Two Of Newcastle’s Best Youngsters In International Action

12:47 am, Friday, March 22nd, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 27 Comments

Newcastle 18 year-old Adam Campbell made his debut for the England U-19s in a friendly game against Turkey last night, which England won 1-0.

Adam is one of Newcastle’s most highly rated youngsters, and he has played for the England U16 and U17 teams and now the U19 side and so far he has two first team appearances fro Newcastle.

The game against Turkey was in preparation for May’s Elite Qualifying Round for the European U19 Championships.

Adam made his debut in the 55th minute, when the 5’7″ striker replaced Birmingham’s Nathan Redmond at the New Bucks Head Stadium in Telford,

Adam didn’t score last night and England’s winner came in the first half, when Southampton’s Calum Chambers scored the England goal.

England have to play Belgium, Scotland and Georgia in Group 6 in May for a place in this summer’s European U-19 Championships to be held in Lithuania.

Kevin Mbabu – scored for Switzerland U18

And new signing Kevin Mbabu played for the Swiss under-19 team last night, and they beat Malta’s U-19s 5-0 in a friendly, and Switzerland play Ireland, Serbia and Slovakia in their Group 2 in May.

Kevin also scored the winning goal in Switzerland’s 2-1 win on Tuesday night, again over Malta.

It’s good to see two of our best youngsters doing well.

Comments welcome.

I thought I would do a bit on the thug incident. A couple of days ago I listened on Talk Sport to Darren Bailey, the FA’s Director of Football Governance and Regulation. He spewed out the FA line about the coming together of players, not wanting to re-referee matches on Monday mornings etc etc. He initially suggested that the FA would be inundated with cases to review. But later he said that there would not be many of the type of serious incidents as we saw last weekend. He also said that the current FA rules had been agreed with all the relevant footballing bodies –whilst listing them all he also used the generic reference of “stakeholders” (to any readers beware of those who use the word stakeholders as it is my experience they are usually complete tossers). He also said that the incident was not covered by the exceptional circumstance rule.
Now then – they clearly are not aware that this incident had gone viral/wordwide with just about everybody saying action should have been taken -maybe an incident that is exceptional in its’ circumstances – but no they had to follow the rules.
Do the FA follow the rules – the simple answer is they do not .Remember the John Terry racism case – when he appeared initially at court and got off but was then charged by the FA in respect of the same incident.
The FA have a rule 6.8 — which says the outcome and evidence of any civil or criminal court trial should be regarded as the correct version of events -and therefore further action by the FA is not required.
They disregarded their own rules – so it would appear if they want to they can veer away from their own Regs – if they want to -but in the thug case decided not to. Just shows how out of touch they are with what the rest of the world thinks.
I hope the new FA chairman makes some radical changes.

off topic i know but cant believe that the ref trains with wigan come on fa, next we will have bookmakers who own footy teams and race horses….
got this off the site with the petion linked to above

The FA use retrospective law whenever it suits them , apart from when Neewcastle United are on the receiving end. Just loot at yohan Cabayes subsequent ban against Brighton in the FA cup last year. A far less serious offence than this horror tackle, yet they saw fit to retrospectively ban him. Unjust, Inept, back hander gang who run football in this country need to be replaced. Finally why was this ref given this game?? He trains with Wigan for gods sake and is known by their manager, owner etc. Brown envelope cover up perhaps??

  • 21 Newcastle Brown Alien // Mar 22, 2013 at 8:47 AM

On RVW, I’m a slice upset but compared with who we’ve been linked with he was my 5th choice:
    1. Doumbia
    2. PEA
    3. Remy
    4. Bony
    5. RVW

    south coast toon
Is that correct that halsey trains with Wigan

  • 24 south coast toon // Mar 22, 2013 at 9:33 AM

i personaly dont know but according to this person from reading it seems he does, i know he dosent live far from the ground.
as i said i got this off the petion site and it seems strange its not been mention before by anyone from wigan lol if true
but could account for some really shocking dessions and maybe someone should look into it as surely a ref training with a football team he will be refing is a bit dodge even by the f a standards
nice too see two of our youngsters doing well
on strikers not upset about wolf winkle but would love luka luka, pea and remy on a free if qpr get religated and shove it right up harry
maybe someone can look into the ref training with wigan as this could add some powder to our complaints as its a bit like being on the jury with a mate in court…

  • 25 Bruva_muz // Mar 22, 2013 at 9:33 AM

Hello lads, I have just watch NZ vs New Caledonia and after the game against wigan I thought I had seen the worse refereeing. But No Tonight in our match where we won 2-1 last gasp goal on 93min, We had a player kicked in the head with studs in the penalty box and with blood pouring down his face the ref and assistants give nothing earlier in the second half we had a player kicked off-the ball the the linesman must have seen again nothing, just after our player got kicked in the back of the knee not unlike the tackle on Haidara this plaer got a yellow card but should have been seen. The state of ref’s around the world in very questionable at the moment. HWLT Wish the best of health to Haidara and all other injured players at my Beloved NUFC

  • 26 south coast toon // Mar 22, 2013 at 9:40 AM

what gets my goat is the linesman said he saw it, the fa have seen the video now the linesman might not of been well sighted but which person in the fa if any have watched this tackle and think it is ok, what sort of rose tinted glasses are they wearing, how full our there pockets with brown envlopes and how much longer can nobody get awarded a penalty at old trafford

  • 27 iain // Mar 22, 2013 at 12:37 PM

Who says our academy isn’t very good., this article just got me thinking…

    Harper
    Forster
    Taylor
    Carroll
    Cambell
    Ameobi
    Ameobi

Not a bad lot of ENGLISH players who could all of been playing in the premier league for us at the same time.

One was sold for 35m and Forster is now apparently interesting Chelsea if you believe the papers, Taylor is in the England squad, Shola has played more time in Europe than the entire Mackems playing squads of the last Ten years probably has.

I dunno maybe at times people give us too much stick for buying foriegners, i think you would struggle to find many pl teams with that many local lads never mind all english that they could of had in there squads.

Throw in the carrick and shearer cock ups letting them go early and we aint done half as bad as made out producing local english talent for this league and country
