Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew was in Paris last night to watch the World Cup qualifier between France Spain, which Spain won with a second half goal from Pedro on 58 minutes, and the victory fives Spain a one point lead over France in Group I.
Mike Ashley – will give manager more transfer funds this summer
Alan met with Mike Ashley to have talks over their summer transfer targets, and it really seems Newcastle will make a big push this summer to bring in three top players, and keep the players they already have.
If we can do that, we’ll have the strongest squad in Mike Ashley’s almost six years as owner of the club, and that coincides with the club making a profit for the first time since Ashley bought the club in the summer of 2007, although how big that profit is we don’t know yet.
The Newcastle Journal is reporting that Newcastle will bid for a number of top young players and three “purples” to add to their squad this summer.
And it seems that France remains the country where Newcastle will recruit their players from, and Newcastle’s name in that country has only become even better and higher profile since we signed the five Frenchmen in January, and all five talk in lyrical terms about Newcastle and their fans.
Mike Ashley has been impressed with the five French players who arrived for around £18M in January, and he will give Alan more funds in the summer to improve the squad with St Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a strong target.
Other big clubs are interested in the Gabon International and his agent Oscar Damiani said this today about his player:
“St Etienne have already turned down a bid from another French club back in January and will now demand a minimum of €12M.”
But you cannot really believe what agents say, especially on the price, because they always try to raise it – so they get paid more – and in any case that’s set by the club.
But it seems that another potential striker target, Ricky van Wolsfswinkel has agreed to join Norwich for £8M this summer, so there’s one potential target already gone.
We assume Newcastle think they are in with a decent chance to get Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, after having an £8M bid turned down in January, and some rumors are that he even wants to join Newcastle.
But whether they are true or not we don’t know.
