Newcastle Youngster Going Nowhere – He Can Still Improve

We expect some clubs, probably from Italy, to come in for our 21 year-old left back Davide Santon in the summer, and the youngster has already played 8 times for the full Italian side.

The full-back was linked with a January move to AC Milan, and we expect at least AC Milan and maybe Roma too to come after him, since the Rome club  have expressed an interest in the youngster previously.

And it seems Davide supported Milan as a youngster, even though he signed on at Inter-Milan before signing for Newcastle for around £5M in the summer of 2011.

Santon’s representative is Renzo Contract, and he thinks that Newcastle will refuse any offers for the Italian in the summer – this is what he told Radio CRC:

“I believe that Davide will remain in England because Newcastle want to count on him next season too.” “The club believe that he still has great room for improvement.”

Santon has made 63 appearances for Newcastle since he signed a five year contract for the Tyneside club in 2011, and it’s fair to say he’s  become a better player since he joined, but there is still room for improvement with Davide, especially in his defensive play.

Alan Pardew and the Newcastle coaches have done a good job in bringing this lad along in the Premier League,  and it’s probably within Davide’s best interests and Newcastle’s best interests that he stay on Tyneside for at least for another season.

Santon will then be worth a lot more than we signed him for – because he will be a much better player – that’s for sure.

Would like to see the lad stay another season at least then if we can make megabucks off him leaving, then that would leave room for haidara to come through or to bring in a better defending LB.

Lets be honest he’s nowt special at defending, but he’s still one of our top players 🙂

santon should take jonass place next season..
hes very good at going forward..plus his price would double..at least 😀 (considering defenders are not as expensive as quality midfielders..or strikers)

but i hope he stays here for a another decade..very talented player..

    A litltle ode.
    The three brave warriors.

    Oh Ian Toon
You have created Pushy then along came carl
Where you seem to whimper they try to snarl
Sometimes they seem to try to talk sense
But always sucking up to Ibiza who sits on the fence
The way you back each other is so easy to predict
It’s because you’re all reading the same script
You’re all fond of poems and putting me down
Hope you enjoy this you’re all one deluded clown.

He’s an exciting player and as many say he could be better at defending but quality going forward.
Hope we keep him at least another year.
Oh and top news is that Fletcher and Clatterhole are out for the season.
Could they be on their way to the fizzy pop?or are there 3 worse teams?theyve got a difficult run in

Best player first half of the season. At only 21 still has an abundance of talent. His pace can mask a few of his defensive frailties.

Bench mark for the calibre of youngsters we need to be bringing to the club. £5m mark seems to be common price we are willing to spend on the right player.

One worrying stat to come out of financial report was 68% wage to revenue!!!! Are we returning to paying top dollar to attract players to our club?

Is anyone worried the mackems may be relegated?

I am not bob, robin or any of those scumbags but we need them in the Prem..

    The Derby
Not far to go to away game (accept not a nice place to go either!)
Historically do better than them (elevates up 1 position)
    Historically take more points
Shola is still playing for us
Their main ST till end of season is a Geordie

Haven seen much of Santon for me. Just a learner still. and haven really contribute much and make himself counted much.

With his quality he has room for improvement. Milan will not come in for him yet.

And how much will he cost Milan?
But this is not a problem because he can hand in a transfer request and ask out. If Milan offer 6.5-7m. (Its not alot really)

    There’s a football agent called Renzo Contract…wtf!?!

Hats off to the guy and the fact that he isn’t simply trying to engineer another pay day by moving his player on to another club

when you see 21 year old Santon being a first team regular and performing well and has for nearly 2 years now, it shows how much players like Ferguson, Abeid, Almafitano, Sammy all need to push on and make a break into the first team. As for Dan Gosling at 23, i think his chance at Newcastle is up, shame as he could have made for a decent enough squad player – versatility etc !
