Who Was Newcastle’s Best Player In 4-0 Rout At Manchester City?

5:06 pm, Saturday, March 30th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 31 Comments

Newcastle were no match for Manchester City today, and we were well beaten 4-0 and dropped two places in the league table into 15th position, but our goal difference took a hammering and it’s now -15.

Silva and Yohan Cabaye struggle for the ball today
We cannot ignore the fact that a number of teams near us in the league table have gained points on us today – and this is the third league defeat out of our last four games – and all defeats have been on the road at Swansea, Wigan and Manchester City.

We are nowhere near being clear of the relegation zone after this very disappointing result – and while we didn’t expect to get much out of this game – we also didn’t expect to be hammered 4-0.

We had the same goal difference as West Ham (-11) going into the game but the Hammer’s 3-1 win at home against West Brom takes them to -9 in goal difference and on 36 points.

That’s three points more than Newcastle, and with our goal difference  now of -15 – and that’s an extra point when the points are the same. When we were relegated four years ago our goal difference was -19.

For the second league game running it was not a good day at the office for Newcastle.

Let us know who you think our best players was today.

It’s time to appoint Temuri Ketsbaia as manager with Laurent Robert being appointed as assistant. We need 3 strikers, Alderweireld and Belhanda.

Why can’t I vote for Pardew?

  • 3 Ketsbaia9 // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:08 PM

And Douglas as well on a free.

  • 4 knottsy82 // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:09 PM

should be asked who deserves to be playing for this club? embarrassing

  • 5 daztoon // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:09 PM

It aint injures it plain old negative boring football. We sat back and didn`t even close players down

  • 6 beefman13 // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:10 PM

Every result has been bad apart from the mackem game, we are in it thick, depressed me fully this display, our manager is a putting at risk our whole premiership survival.

  • 7 Eddie // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:12 PM

We really are desperately short of attacking options. If we stay up two top quality striker/winger/AM types are a must.
In fact, I would go so far as to say that the worst thing about our defence has been our attack!

nee toon player thanks to pardews inept management skills

  • 9 Tinman // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:12 PM

Not the players fault, negative management. Playing Jonas LB was a mistake. Playing Obertan was a mistake. You have to remember how good Man City are…

  • 10 spitfire_ // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:13 PM

    Pardew was MVP.

  • 11 hugenufcfan // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:13 PM

More than the fact we got hammered, we shoed no real courage and the will to fight. Was itbecoz of pardews stupid tactics. i beleive so, #hoofballs from the back, no composure in passing, totally neagtive attitude. playting obertan instead of marveaux was a travesty. Not sure why that bas***** is warming the benches.
Is relegation a real threat, absolutely. Is EL a distraction . absolutely.
Who was our MOM, Elliot saving us from a 7-0 defeat.
Anita, Obertan, Goufrran, Guti all looked terrible.
Its something like we came here knowing that we’ll loose, therefore dmamage limitation.
Pathetic, Pardew out, he is not gng to take us to the next level with his schoolboy tactics, at least he should walk the talk, giving bold statements int he press conf and not showing anything on the field, absolute disgrace.

Best player! You’re having a laugh!

  • 13 Jail for Ashley // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:14 PM

    Band B,
Where have you been, like I said earlier I am not pro or anti Pardew, but like Mike Ashley the guy (Pardew)really isn’t going anywhere and we have to pay our money and put up with it.

  • 14 Transfer Sage // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:15 PM

definite mistakes by the manager today but consider the reasons.

Even a full strength team playing 100% could be beaten there, they are very good when on form.

Didn’t risk some players who we need for thursday so not too bad, can forgive that. Understandable.

The attitude of the team and the way we just sat and let them play was the problem, but lets hope this is the game where pardew learns that doesn’t work.

  • 15 daztoon // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:15 PM

Jonas played well today. we were playing for a point from the start and invited all the pressure on us in doing so

  • 16 tannerabag // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:17 PM

I’m waiting for Elliot to be caught out when he comes up field to take these stupid long punts into the box – oval ball tactics.

  • 17 daztoon // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:17 PM

    @Transfer Sage
Any team looks good when you stand off and let them play.Swansea did until we got stuck in.Man city have had two good games this season and both have been against us

  • 18 Eddie // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:18 PM

huge – Agree with you about Pardew coming over very well in interviews but not really matching it with anything on the pitch. I just hope he learns to be a better manager during his stay with us.

  • 19 Marty-Toon // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:18 PM

    Obertan got a vote?????
A blind man i guess lol

  • 20 beefman13 // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:18 PM

Yes i suppose we are expecting a win next week but its going to be tight and if we go one up is Pardew going to order backs against the wall, probably, ans ir could be another bad move!

  • 21 Ketsbaia9 // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:19 PM

We need to sign these players in the summer:

    Alderweireld
    Douglas
    Belhanda
    Benteke
    Remy
    Zarate/Gameiro

  • 22 BandB // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:21 PM

    Jail

I had to keep me heed down for a bit , as one or two colleagues were starting to suspect that I was exceeding my terms of employment by commenting in a way that wasn’t entirely “compliant”. I’ve still been commenting, y’know. Just not on here……

  • 23 hugenufcfan // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:23 PM

Eddie – i’m not sure he’s the right guy for us. We need a manager who believes in the team not matter who the opponent is. well man city are a class team no doubt, probably around 200 million quid diff between the players theirs and our plpayers, that shouldnt stop anyone from putting a real fight.

  • 24 tannerabag // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:28 PM

We need to sign these players in the summer:

    Alderweireld
    Douglas
    Belhanda
    Benteke
    Remy
    Zarate/Gameiro

    ——————————————————-

Why would any of these players sign for a club in the lower part of the league and who will not be playing European football next season. WE are going to be competing for the same players as Wigan, not players also linked with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool.

  • 25 The next Mike Williamson // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:30 PM

well, i’ve said it before (about 90 times) but maybe Pardew has finally realised Obertan is useless. I’m sure he only plays him because he’s the only player that he personally signed.

  • 26 karasu // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:44 PM

I voted Gosling. He gave Gouffran a chance to rest for mid-week pretty early. For that, I’m thankful.

  • 27 woolerbill // Mar 30, 2013 at 5:47 PM

It’s down to tactics, and Par dew has only one one defend even when you can’t. He is the tickets manager in the Prem, any team can beat as they know Par dew will never play to win , he will protect his one point. This is why we will go down, even with the French , it’s down to him.

  • 28 Craborumtoon // Mar 30, 2013 at 6:26 PM

No one they were all useless especially gouffran, he is a waste of space!!!!

  • 29 gazzaforever // Mar 30, 2013 at 7:15 PM

Funny , I think I said here. A few times howgouffran was horrible, I guess I was right. Why do you think bordeaux didnt care about selling him

  • 30 Footballwatch // Mar 30, 2013 at 8:09 PM

If you wish you can watch the game in full or its highlights on http://www.footballwatch.net/team/137

  • 31 Craborumtoon // Mar 30, 2013 at 8:54 PM

Anita is dreadful too, decent passer but he just has no impact on the game. Obertan and gouffran look as if they just don’t care and simpson’s crossing is what you would expect in a school game it is absolutely shocking. Although I still do belive in vurnon.

Get rid of: Obertan, Gouffran, Simpson, gosling, amalfitano (why did we sign him!!!!)

Sign: pierre-emerick aubameyang, remy, douglas, sako,

We need another right back. 2 more strikers, we all know shola and cisse isn’t the best. Cisse does ok but he can’t play every game. Shola should stay though. A winger too!!!
