Krul And Santon In Squad – Haidara and Tiote Miss Out

Fit again Tim Krul and Davide Santon are in the squad that jetted off to Lisbon today – but a little surprisingly, Cheick Tiote and Massadio Haidara did not make the squad.

cheick tiote stoke

Cheick Tiote – didn’t make the trip

Youngsters Adam Campbell and Gael Bigirimana made the squad and they are two of Newcastle’s most promising teenagers.

We have to think that Alan Pardew is keeping both Tiote and Haidara behind, and they hopefully can start the important league game against Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

The game on Thursday night in Lisbon has a 8:05 pm kick-off Newcastle time – and we have to hope the lads will play a lot better than they did on Saturday – it would be difficult to play worse than in that first half.

Here’s hoping.

And here’s the full Newcastle United squad on the plane, in alphabetical order:

Shola Ameobi, Vurnon Anita, Gael Bigirimana, Yohan Cabaye, Adam Campbell, Papiss Cisse, Rob Elliot, Dan Gosling, Jonas Gutierrez, Tim Krul, Sylvain Marveaux, Gabriel Obertan, James Perch, Davide Santon, Danny Simpson, Moussa Sissoko, Steven Taylor, Mike Williamson, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.

Don’t personally like krul. His distribution of the ball is shocking. Takes too long. Then just hoofs it up the park.

Pardew out. Would like to see di Matteo next season.

maybe but unlike Sissoko he needs to start his runs on the edge of the opposition box not from ours.I would like to all the front players mix it up a bit change positions now an again. We might as well be cardboard cutouts were are that static

What does Elliot’s nationality have to do with his ability to play as goalkeeper for us?? Mental.

I agree that Elliot has done nothing wrong to justify being dropped, but it’s up to Pardew to monitor them both in training and decide who is in the best form.

I am not here to lambast pardew – I really want him to do better. But the injury excuses can only be used so much. Without a doubt he is not getting the best from the pool of players he has available. I genuinely like how he conducts himself etc, but we can do better – surely? Why does our scouting system work so hard to produce talent – and yet we get defensive football all day long, crap set pieces, low motivation, awful first halves etc etc. We are trusting him because he had one stellar season based on two hot strikers ….and thats …er ….it ……..are many Toon fans being too fair?

Daz – I reckon that Cisse needs a hand… I am not so sure he likes being the only one up top… he needs a partner up front… not like BA who never passed it to him but involved him… he gets nothing to do all game and then he is expected to bag us a winner… he seems to have the knack for that but we cant depend on it – we need better attacking midfielders… if Padrew aint gonna use the wing..

Munster – good points but he must be good at something if the players back him and so does the majority of the fans… he doesnt seem like he knows what the best plan for the squad is – I reckon season 3 will be his best yet – well lets hope he hasnt peaked too early with the 5th we got… that was probably 4-5 seasons too early… I give him 2 yrs and then we will see…

Anyone know how many yellow cards Tiote is on in the league at the moment? When is the cut off for ten bookings and a two match ban this season?

Isharsehole, add some more of that rich fertile footballing knowledge of yours. Such as Eliott is a great goalkeeper not, and Simpson and Williamson, are great defenders not. And how about possibly your finest statement Pardew, is a great manager. What a moron you really are,you are to thick to call a mackem!

Di Matteo is a shite manager!!! Sacked at West Brom for being shite and got lucky to win the Champions league with the most negative displays ever! Then gets sacked at Chelsea because he cant get a team of stars to play football the game against Juventus showed he never had a clue putting Hazard up front on his own against their back 3!!
    Would be worse than Pardew!!

I think Ashley will give Pardew one more season also think he will be backed in the summer with more funds and if we could get De Jong, Remy and a proper winger to get the crosses in we will see a healthy improvement in the teams fortunes

Defo easy for the opposition defence to mark our only forward player.Sissoko is the only player to get in the box after a 50 yard dash

Daz – Yeah and what can he do after running 50 yards… eh? Who’s waiting for him? An OFFSIDE Cisse…. 🙂 We need a new-gazza-type hero midfielder… and also a striker… I’d say we raid Southampton if they go down… 3 or 4 of their players would walk onto our team… no?

What’s the point of the anti-Pardew rants? He managed to get us to 5th last season didn’t he? Top 8 would have been the target this year, but that was unrealistic given the injuries to our top players (particularly Krul, Colo, Cabaye, Ben Arfa), the debacle with Ba, the lack of performance from some of our young players, the loss of form of others compared to last season (Tiote, Cisse), and the loss to injury of some decent back-ups (Vuckic, Raylor).

We’re definitely lower than we should be though, let’s get a couple of wins, we should finish top half at worst with this squad really.

Can`t see Southampton going down but if they did i`d take their manager first before anything else.Cisse offside so much because the pass he wants takes that long in coming he`s on his way back

Daz – I dont know people on here have said that too and I have seen him many times and in fact concentrated only on him and he does seem to watch the line too quickly and he is off… like a racehorse without the ball… he has to learn to hold… Cabaye is forever looking for him… I think, honestly that Pardew sees Carroll up front with Cisse as the dream strikers… What you think? I think they would work really well…

Would personally like to think that Bigiramana starts tomorrow ahead of Anita or Perch as he is a much better player of the ball.

However, this is Pardew we are talking about, so no doubt he will go there with the same mindset as City on Saturday.

Plus, what channel is the game on tomorrow?

I agree with the Carroll and Cisse up top scenario, Cisse playing off the knockdowns would bag plenty of goals, withuout a focal point up top it means we are counter productive from the wings and when we put balls in we need to regroup and get our shape back quickly meaning we don’t capitalise on the attacks, I don’t think our wingers are that bad, but I do think we are bad at attacking balls in the box with only Cisse up top
