Pardew – Newcastle Must Win Today If We Are To Go For It Thursday

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has been interviewed in the local papers today, and of course he has said we must win the game against Fulham today, in what we hope will be a sell-out crowd at St. James’ Park.

Alan Pardew – we must win today

Since we have one of the worst away records in the league this season and still have only one win on the road against Aston Villa, we have to pick up points in our home games – and we have four left against Fulham, Sunderland, Liverpool and Arsenal.

They are not particularly easy games and maybe the easiest of the four its today’s game against Fulham,.
This is what Alan Pardew told the local press today:

It’s a big moment for us. We have a second leg of a quarter-final and the Sunderland game is looming on the horizon for a number of reasons.” “We have a little bit of pressure on us because of the league position.”

“Now we have two home games. We have got to capitalize on that. So this game is the most important game of the season for us because if we can get a win then we can take the safety net off and really go for it on Thursday.”

“I have said to the players that I want that, and for them to give me that opportunity. Therefore we need a win.” “Is this the most important week? Well, this is when the big games come.”

“We have the quarter-final of a European competition, which is fantastic, and that’s the sort of thing we want to do. Next season, we want to be in the semi-final of the FA Cup and be in big league games.”

“We have big league games coming up now and that’s because we are at the bottom of the division.” “We have suffered so many injuries. We have five first-team players missing for this game. But that’s not unusual.”

“So next year, without the complications of the Europa League, we will be better armed for the league campaign, for sure.”“The derby is going to be huge, regardless, no matter what results Sunderland and ourselves have this weekend.”

“To be honest, I’m not thinking beyond Fulham and therefore our focus is very much on that.” “The last three defeats have been really contrasting games. We should never have lost at Wigan, we were well beaten at Manchester City, and then at Benfica it could have gone so much better for us.”

“But well and truly we need to put it altogether on Sunday to get a win.”

If we can win our next two home game against Fulham and Sunderland, there should be a huge relief among Newcastle fans, because that will take us to 39 points, and we should be fairly safe and still have five league games to go.

Here’s hoping we can get the win today. 😀
