Perch Out – Yoan Gouffran In For Fulham

2:06 pm, Sunday, April 7th, 2013 by Ed Harrison · 443 Comments

nufcfulham-fc

James Perch cannot make the game today and Yoan Gouffran will start up front with Papiss Cisse in a 4-4-2 attacking formation.

Apart from that change it’s the same team that played in Lisbon on Thursday evening – and Adam Campbell is again on the bench with Shola Ameobi, in case more firepower is needed in the game.

It looks like Moussa Sissoko will be playing the defensive midfield role in the center of the park – and of course he’s played this position many times for Toulouse – and it could even be his best position.

This is a very important game for the club – and a win would give us some relief from relegation – but now is the time for our players to produce – and hopefully they can get the job done today and win this game for the fans.

For Fulham Dimitar Berbatov and former target Bran Ruiz are the danger men for the Cottagers, with Damien Duff, the former Newcastle winger also starting the game, and no doubt he will be soundly booed this afternoon.

    Sexy 4-4-2 coming up.

  • 2 Big Pappa Cissé // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:08 PM

Not bad I suppose. I just hope we attack attack attack. Especially at home

  • 3 TimKrulFan // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:10 PM

Guti and Marv as wingers blokes clueless.

  • 4 Tommyy // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:10 PM

    Finally a change from 451!

  • 5 toonarmydownsouth // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:11 PM

Fulham have not named the strongest looking side tbf want too see us really go for it

  • 6 Tommyy // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:11 PM

But agree that Marv is going to have to take things into his own hands and play in the hole, or there’s not much point in him playing.

  • 7 TimKrulFan // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:11 PM

Get Marv in the middle every time he plays their he assists someone he’s are most creative player.

  • 8 Edd Case // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:12 PM

This 4-4-2 will either go very well or horribly wrong.

Wasn’t that long ago I remember lots on here screaming for AP to drop the 4-4-2 for the 4-5-1…

Don’t care what we play or how we play though, as long as we get 3 points! HWTL

  • 9 Eddie // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:13 PM

TKF – i imagine cisse and gouffran will work between fulham’s cbs and fbs. Hopefully marv and jonas will help dominate the centre of the park.

  • 10 Eddie // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:14 PM

Cisse is certainly not a lone striker, so it’s worth trying him with gouff.

  • 11 Toonboy_84 // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:15 PM

Feeling very confident today. About time we had some luck me thinks.

  • 12 Eddie // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:16 PM

Also looking forward to Big Mo proving movement through the middle.

  • 13 Eddie // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:17 PM

    “providing”

  • 14 Tommyy // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:18 PM

Most were screaming for 442 in favour of 433 not 451. I don’t know why Pardew is so scared of an attacking 433! We’re at home against Fulham for God’s sake.

  • 15 Tommyy // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:19 PM

Sorry that should read 433 in favour of 442.

  • 16 gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola) // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:19 PM

    links?

  • 17 Ben_BKK // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:19 PM

I’m not sure if it’s a 4-4-2, I think it might just be the usual formation with Marveaux in the hole, Moussa and Cabaye in the deep midfield positions and Gouffran and Jonas on the wings. The club never actually announces what formation it’s playing, they just announce the players.

  • 18 northernirishtoon // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:20 PM

Hopefully change in formation will spice things up a bit. Especially for goofy and socks

  • 19 NUFC_LEAZES END // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:20 PM

Would love to see a 4-4-2 diamond with sissoko in his natural position and cabaye behind gouffran and cisse

  • 20 northernirishtoon // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:21 PM

    Ben

It says 442 on official website so guessing that’s what it is

  • 21 Jail for Ashley // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:22 PM

    Tads,
I wouldn’t know who Fulhams strongest side are, who apart from Sidwell is missing, no point in me asking for any links the wi fi out here is sh1te.

  • 22 Marty-Toon // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:22 PM

Surprised that Frimpong isn’t on and their midfield should be there for the taking.
Would rather have Marveau on the left than the right but Jonas has probably been given the job of stopping Duff man.
Karagounis against Cabaye or Sissoko should be ours and enoh I don’t know of but manolev is a tidy player

    Getting excited now
    Howay the lads

  • 23 toonLYF // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:22 PM

I think this will actually be 433, with Sissoko, Cabaye and Marveaux in the middle, Jonas and Gouffran on the wings and Cisse upfront.

  • 24 Eddie // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:22 PM

The problem with 4-3-3 is that we don’t have a credible front 3.

  • 25 dembademba // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:22 PM

looking forward to 442. gouffran is primarily a striker, and does link well with cisse. moussa playing the role he’s more used to, deeper, alongside cabaye.

i think there’l be goals. we will have to run harder n faster than fulham if we’re to win. if we want it more theyre there for the taking.

not overly confident gotta be honest

  • 26 wreker16 // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:23 PM

Is it actually a 4-4-2? To me it looks like it could have Marv or moussa in the hole with either guti or moussa joining cabaye in the centre of the park with only cisse as a striker.

    Who knows with Pardew though

  • 27 Eddie // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:24 PM

Think the front 2 and fullbacks will do most of the wide work, with jonas and marv coming central.

  • 28 Rotonda heights // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:24 PM

Most of us were wanting Pardew to drop the 442 hoofball and go back to 433, but instead Pards went 451 then 4231 and now 442 with 2 non-wingers. You couldn’t make it up.
Marv has to be played centrally in the hole. Lets be honest there’ll be little to no overlapping on Simmo’s side.

Let’s hope Fulham won’t be beastly and let us get some good passes in to the box !!!

  • 29 Ben_BKK // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:24 PM

northernirish – They’ve done that before and then we’ve set up differently to what’s being reported. I’m just saying, the players that are on the teamsheet could very easily be lining up in the usual formation.

  • 30 dembademba // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:25 PM

i agree that formation could be different and change throughout but im expecting n hoping for 442.

we should crowd karagounis out but hes clever player. seen enoh before n thought he looked decent but our midfield is better.

hope duff gets crippled within a minute. or gives away a pen. or gets sent off. i hate him

  • 31 2_goal_tino // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:26 PM

Good adaptable team. Can easily switch to a 4-2-3-1 if 4-4-2 isn’t working.
    —Cabs-Moussa
    Gouff-Marv-Jonas
    —–Cisse

Or Jonas CDM, Marv wide and Moussa CAM.

It’s great to have the pace of Gouff back in the team.

  • 32 Klatoon // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:26 PM

Hope we really press and move our cb’s up the pitch as Ruiz and Berba aint the quickest pair.

Has Vurnon Anita been banging Pardew’s wife. Why the hell doesn’t Alan play him? Can see him going back to Ajax.

  • 39 check the toastie // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:29 PM

Pleased to see Goofy given the chance to play further forward, hopefully will link up well with Cisse, Fulhams CB’s arent the most mobile, however if we play long hoofballs into the front two, Pardew needs Sacking after the game, If we go long it will be a nightmare and complete stupidity, unfortunately its ahat i expect.

Anita should be playing full back instead of Simpson, baffling.

  • 40 Rotonda heights // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:30 PM

    Tommy @ 14

If we knew that it would go a long way to explaining things that’s for sure/.

It’s ell documented Pardew spends 4 days out of 5 training days defending so may be it’s to be expected, but surely a manager should be able to do attacking and defending and not have so much emphasis on negative play only.

If Pards is 4 days defending and carver gets 1 day attacking then it’s not fit for purpose.

  • 41 Marty-Toon // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:30 PM

Duff will have to hold back a bit too with Gouffran being up there they’ll be asking him to tuck in

  • 42 Newcastle for alltid // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:30 PM

I really like this lineup. Apart from the absence of Debuchy at RB and Ben Arfa, we should be strong. The last couple of games I’ve really wished us to use Sissoko in a deeper role. The way Yaya Toure bossed us really opened my eyes as to what we can do with Sissoko. He’s got a sick work-rate and is a strong tackler.

He has also looked a bit “heavy” for the number 10-role. He’s a good passer, but might lack some of the agility and creativity as of now. Some of his runs with the ball ends up in nothing. They would suit a deeper midfielder more.
Expect Gouffran to drop down and offer some creativity behind Cissè as well. After being smashed against Benfica in a 4-2-3-1 formation, I’m actually full of hope on this one.

  • 43 toonbrother // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:31 PM

Formation for me is what leazes posted.
Cabs played in the attacking role with moussa sitting to use his sttength and presence to break up their play with help from jonas.
Break quickly using pace of marv and gouffran and vision of cabs to feed cisse.
Positive determined display is needed. Home advantage should have us on top. A cautious defensive display will invite pressure. A defeat today and MA needs to seriously reconsider his opinion of AP being the man to take club/team forward.

  • 48 Ketsbaia9 // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:32 PM

The sooner we get Sven in, the better. We need a proper manager. There aren’t many managers that have a better track record than Sven.

  • 49 MosesNUFC // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:33 PM

I’m pleased with pardew being brave and playing 442. Lets just hope he hasn’t set the team up to play hoofball. i want to see some nice football, and i like that solid midfield of sissoko and cabaye. Will be interesting to see how marveaux does. Gouffran will come short during the attacks, jonas will stay back mostly. So it will probs be like this in attack:
    ———————Cisse
    ———Gouffran————-Gouffran——-Marveaux

    —————–Sissoko/Cabaye
    Then like this in defence:
    ———————–Krul———————–
    Simpson M’biwa———-Taylor—–Santon
    ———Sissoko——Cabaye——Jonas

    Marveaux——Gouffran

  • 50 Ketsbaia9 // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:33 PM

Anita should be in the starting line up. We need players who can keep the ball and do the simple things. Simpson just boots it up field and gets caught out of position.

i think anitas an awesome player, i really do but i think pardews decided hes just too small, too lightweight for the prem. he does get bypassed pretty easily. cant really blame him for it, hes playing for the wrong manager, the wrong team in the wrong division

  • 56 Ketsbaia9 // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:38 PM

  • 57 Rotonda heights // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:39 PM

anita under a ”footballing” manager would thrive, but he doesn’t suit pardew’s direct and defensive style.

  • 58 Ketsbaia9 // Apr 7, 2013 at 2:40 PM

He can have an operation to increase his height, but he’d never be the same player again as he will have to have his legs broke.

I dont understand the logic in this. And cisse is once again left on his own. It’s sad to see us being so clueless going forward. With or without injuries we always don’t know how to go forward, which is why we can not control a game home or away.

…did anyone see what happened to Santon?

  • 117 TurkishFan101 // Apr 7, 2013 at 3:30 PM

I cant bare to watch this mate, most of our players are playing out of position, the likes of Marvo should be slotted straight behind Cisse, instead his way back in midfield. No support for Cisse at all rather then seeing sissoko next to him, sorry but Pardew is to negative to play attacking football I don’t see where the win is going to come from unless its a long shot or deflection type of goal..

  • 118 colwell // Apr 7, 2013 at 3:30 PM

We are not playing like a team in a relegation fight more like a team with nothing too play for, this attitude will get us relegated.

  • 141 Tuna // Apr 7, 2013 at 3:38 PM

Our strikers do need to learn to stay onside though. Even though that wasn’t Cisse’s flick to Gouffran, he could have got there first and stayed onside. Obviously I don’t have to explain why Papiss needs to learn how to stay onside.

  • 142 AmeobiTheMackemSlayer // Apr 7, 2013 at 3:38 PM

On the whole injury front. I hear that the reason we get so many injuries – particularly hamstrings – is because of the pitches we use is training. Apparently there is something about them that makes player more likely to get problems. Don’t know why, I’m not a physiotherapist. But that’s what I’ve heard

  • 143 Tommyy // Apr 7, 2013 at 3:39 PM

Pardew needs to train our team on attacking football.

  • 154 Tuna // Apr 7, 2013 at 3:42 PM

But he’s playing further back than he should do, because of the 4-2-3-1. If he were in a normal 4-4-2, behind the strikers in the middle of the park, he’d be much more instrumental.

People keep talking about his lack of service – that’s really not true any more. No, he’s not got Xavi and Iniesta behind him, but he’s still getting four or five good/very good chances every match and screwing up.

how much longer will he insist with the stupid 4-2-3-1.
this is the barclays premier league NOT la liga english games are designed to be 4-4-2
at this moment cabaye is playing too deep cisse is always left alone goffran and marvo are getting too central the FBs go too far forward in other words the team starts to look like this
    CB CB
    anita
    FB cabaye FB
    marvo sissoko goffran
    cisse
if we did 4 4 2 it would be much easier to know what you aim is as the FBs are FB or wingers the wingers are wingers or wide forwards and the CM are CDM or CAM but what doesn’t happen is they are not all over the place.

    City won the league with it last year. Manchester United mix it up as well, they regularly play 423 and 433. I don’t think we have the wingers to play 442 – we’ve barely got one player at the club that can cross a ball (;

It does sound like it, , I’m in between here and the bbc website.

  • 247 BIGUPNUFC // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:21 PM

its just becoming a joke, we just cannot score…

  • 248 Marty-Toon // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:21 PM

So unlucky, gotta keep this up now

  • 249 Jamiemac // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:21 PM

    Should be pen!

  • 250 davis_toons // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:22 PM

    Its a HANDBALL.

  • 251 jimiley // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:22 PM

We are going for a world record in corners. Never scored one in a whole season. Somebody should be sacked. Lets start with Pards.

  • 252 Ben_BKK // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:22 PM

Their lad on the post handballed it. That should be pen and red card. FFS typical of our luck!

  • 253 Tuna // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:22 PM

Looks like a handball on the line, and hitting the post twice. Not our day so far.

  • 254 Papiss9 // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:22 PM

Pathetic to read the most negative posts.

We’ve been the best team all day, we just haven’t put the ball in the back of the net.

Fulham are an in form team and we are clearly the better side.

  • 255 NUFCarter // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:22 PM

I tell you what if we dont win this….

  • 256 Papiss9 // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:22 PM

we should have a pen on that corner

  • 257 karasu // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:22 PM

Cisse totally has to go. Missed the return to Marv. Missed the one on one with Schwarz. And now, missed that chance from the corner. **** off Cisse. You’re not needed anymore. We need a new first choice striker.

  • 258 Ravensd // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:23 PM

    not our year

  • 259 TheToonKing // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:23 PM

Cisse is useless….how can you not score from there?

  • 260 Ben_BKK // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:23 PM

It would just be typical for us to lose this now. It’d be like the Reading defeat all over again. I’m praying it’s not, but I’m getting that feeling, we desperately need a goal!

  • 261 NUFCarter // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:23 PM

Thats handball! Nothings doing for cisse.

  • 278 Tuna // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:26 PM

Gouffran isn’t going to be playing in Benfica either, why not take off some tired legs that will be playing next week too? Goofy was playing well too.. I don’t understand that one.

  • 279 Sazzer // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:27 PM

Zamora sent off on advice of linesman. High boot into lads head

  • 289 Tuna // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:32 PM

Cabaye can’t go a lot because he’s stuck in the 4-2-3-1 infront of the defence, with Anita I think. Though he has threaded a couple of neat balls through, he’s not been able to be himself really.

  • 290 TimKrulFan // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:33 PM

    Omg so nervous comeon lads.

  • 291 Ben_BKK // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:33 PM

  • 296 Tuna // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:34 PM

    So it won’t happen.

  • 297 Marty-Toon // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:34 PM

  • 313 Tuna // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:38 PM

Rogallega coming on for Fulham, and Campbell coming on for Simmo. Positive move for sure, 4-4-2 I guess, with Anita into RB.

  • 314 Ben_BKK // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:38 PM

jesper – Yes we want QPR down but if Wigan win then they’re level on points with us. We want a QPR win or a draw.

Yes, we shouldn’t have to be thinking about what’s happening below us, but we’re in that situation now. I wouldn’t be too downhearted with a draw in this game, as long as we don’t lose, and then we need to go and smash the mackems next week!

  • 315 Marty-Toon // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:38 PM

    Well this is adventurous Alan

  • 316 Ravensd // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:39 PM

Cisse’s allround game is getting better. his touch is much better than for 2 or 3 months ago, yes he should have passed the ball to marv in first half, and in the second (but ameobis control there was really poor).

He worked hard, good technique and did a good job today. his first touch on the goal was unreal.

    Now lets beat the mackems

  • 392 Marty-Toon // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:56 PM

Campbell didn’t do so bad,had a few good runs.
Cisse looks a real threat but should’ve passed the ball to Marv in the fist half for a goal.
Again we’ve hit the post twice and crossbar once.
    Deserved the win today though

  • 395 Alan Pas-de-clue // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:56 PM

  • 401 Ben_BKK // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:57 PM

It was a great goal from Cisse. It was just a shame it took so long coming! I’m surprised I haven’t had a heart attack yet with all these late winners!

  • 402 Black and White with an army lol // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:57 PM

    christ I love NUFC!

  • 405 yorkshire_magpie // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:58 PM

cisse and sissoko too. celebrating with the fans. Just saw the replay of the goal and that was a class goal. he flicked over his head and then buried it. Hes not a great goal scorer but a scorer of great goals.

  • 406 nufc786 // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:58 PM

Since The mighty SBR i have never seen a manager celebrate with so much passion when we scored..

Pardew cares he shows the passion

  • 407 NUFCarter // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:58 PM

Pardew was just a legend running into the crowd!

  • 408 Spuggy // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:58 PM

Mackems lose get in, Now QPR need to do a job on wigan but are down to 10 men – a draw would be good too, but will be tough.

Come on Remy, pay some of that fee back!

  • 409 DxSkyline // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:59 PM

Benfica just got alot more intresting!!! Cisse scored but he misses too many chances for my liking, but a much need victory

  • 410 toonking // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:59 PM

what i want to see is a 4-4-2 formation designed like a diamond against sunderland
    cabaye the CAM
marvo and jons wide sisoko CDM while goffran and cisse are forward that way if cisse is offside we still have goffran to pass forward instead of jonas and marvo getting crowded by the CB and midfield he can pass to cabaye who will likelly only have the midfielders to worry about while the CBs are covering both goffran and cisse and if cisse is off side then pass to goffran.

  • 411 Marty-Toon // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:59 PM

    Anita had a good game
Cabaye was quiet a lot today
Gouffran and Marveau had top games

  • 412 indian // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:59 PM

This is why Pardew is the right man for the job. He may not be the brightest, but he is so passionate! He will learn and get better, he will learn new tactics and overcome his short comings, why? Cuz he is passionate about it and cares. I’ll rather have pardew here, than a Laudrup who will just use the club for a couple of years and go away!

  • 413 Alan Pas-de-clue // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:59 PM

Derby next week is HUGE. momentum from benfica game will play a huge part

  • 414 Benji84 // Apr 7, 2013 at 4:59 PM

  • 415 Black and White with an army lol // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:00 PM

keep playing as we did today through out the season and next season we will be TITANS of Europe.

    im fcuking buzzing today

  • 416 NUFCarter // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:00 PM

Cisse was a different player with gouffran beside him. He was so confident and pressurised the defence all the time. How many times has cisse scoref in da 90th minute?

  • 417 Jamiemac // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:00 PM

Guti and Marv stand out players today. Marv really showing his potential lately. Campbell way out of his league

  • 418 indian // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:00 PM

Amd after what pardew just did, if anyone on the blog wants him out, I must say I feel sad for them. He is the man for this job, he will get us success

  • 419 Ketsbaia9 // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:00 PM

Now we can try and beat Benifica and play our strongest team. Marveaux was excellent again. Love watching him play. Hardly ever loses the ball.

  • 420 Alan Pas-de-clue // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:01 PM

loving marvs creativity. also anita will be overlooked but was effective in helping the rhythm of our play

  • 421 NUFCarter // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:01 PM

  • 422 BIGUPNUFC // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:01 PM

at the reverse fixture we were the better team with chances but we couldn’t deliver, look how much has changed now since january. The spirit is there

  • 423 gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola) // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:01 PM

    Howay the lads!!!

  • 424 Tommyy // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:02 PM

Can’t fault anyone today bar perhaps Simpson attacking but defensively he was solid. We absolutely battered them second half.
Just need a bit more fluidity and flair with HBA back and we can start to play some football. Loved Pardew’s passion, we need to see more from him though, he needs to consistently get the results.

  • 425 brighter // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:02 PM

Thank you for all of player who having play today.
This goal is best of the season.
Now my heart was satisfied in supreme bliss.

  • 426 toonbrother // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:02 PM

crosssection of comments from toon “fans”

Cisse totally has to go. Missed the return to Marv. Missed the one on one with Schwarz. And now, missed that chance from the corner. **** off Cisse. You’re not needed anymore. We need a new first choice striker.

Cisse is useless….how can you not score from there?

C’mon Pards are you daft? Cisse is the one who should go.

Cisse. He has all the attributes of a brilliant footballer, all except an ability to read the game

Cisse you twat when will you ever pass to Marveaux???

Cisse just doesn’t have a footballing brain.

  • 427 TheGallowgateEnd // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:03 PM

Marveaux was a beauty today! Maybe, just maybe, Santon out can get the team a little bit more fluidity against Benfica. I hope so anyway…

  • 428 BIGUPNUFC // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:03 PM

cant see anyone in a managerial post who could possibly have as much passion as pardew, legend.

  • 429 Newcastle for alltid // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:05 PM

Great result. They simply don’t come much more important than that.
I’m not going to put my finger on too much today, except Campbell. I’ve got high hopes for him, but I don’t think it’s smart playing him out of position this early in his senior career. He is a striker, and playing him on the flanks where he’s more exposed and not as experienced might hurt his confidence a bit.

But that’s not too important today. A massive 3 points!

  • 430 papattack // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:05 PM

    toon brother

these so called fans are anything but, genuine idiots is more appropriate

  • 431 Papiss9 // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:06 PM

We are going to beat sunderland, sure of it. That will give us a lot of confidence in the next matches and hopfully more players avaiable.

If we manage to beat benfica and maybe go to the final i EL and end up between 10 th and 12 th it will be great. I allways said april is a big month (3 of 4 games in PL are at st. james). If we win all those matches who knows what we might fight for at the end of the season. Swansea at 9 th is just 5 point ahead of us

  • 432 Marty-Toon // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:08 PM

Good game but we shoulda scored earlier, unlucky not to get a peno or the 3 that hit the post and crossbar
We got lucky at the other end a couple of times.
Krul was immense as were Mbiwa Sayls, simmo and must admit Jonas

  • 433 toonbrother // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:08 PM

@papatack, for a change i watched the game without checking comments on this blog. and i thought we played very well throughout. People forget Fulham are a very good team. To dominate them the way we did today and take all three points we did exceptionally well. Im no fan of pardew but all his changes were spot on (apart from taking off gouffy) and you could see his passion when the goal went in. We deserved three points today make no mistake

  • 434 brighter // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:09 PM

you are not newcastle fan. hahaha
Cisse was really working hard to get the goal.

  • 435 BIGUPNUFC // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:09 PM

christ football is fickle, one day we are whispering relegation, then the next we are talking about going to final of el!

  • 436 NUFCarter // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:09 PM

People are already talking about how we should play against sunderland next week. We just beat fulham and played brilliantly. Celebrate it!

  • 437 Ravensd // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:10 PM

    @ Toonbrother
It’s banter said in the heat of a game, which to me shows passion for a club. We could all sit here and say “oh well Cisse lad, you tried your best. Keep on trying. Good show.” After a match when the excitement is settled, cooler heads can prevail and we can take a better, fairer look at each player’s pros and cons, but in the heat of the game, we feel the frustrations and victories deeper, and it comes out.

  • 438 Papiss9 // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:10 PM

agree 100 %. that’s what I said during the game to. Fulham are an in form team and we were the best side all day, just couldn’t score before 93. min.

  • 439 BIGUPNUFC // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:13 PM

yeah remember they were unbeaten in 5 matches and had just won against tottenham

thank $£$$ for that, now all I want is for us to beat benfica 3-0 and to hammer the scum 5-0 that would make my week :)

  • 443 Ravensd // Apr 7, 2013 at 5:25 PM

We only need 2-0 to beat Benfica, but a third would be good security
