Arsenal And Inter-Milan After Newcastle Target

It seems that both Arsenal and inter-Milan are interested in signing what appears to be Newcastle’s number one striker target – St. Etienne’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang –  according to reports in  talkSPORT.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Newcastle striker target

Newcastle are said to have bid around £8M in January for the 23 year-old striker, but his club wants around £10M, and it seems that Inter have already lodged a bid to sign the player.

Aubameyang has scored 17 goals this season in France, and is second in the goal scoring charts only to PSG’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has 26 goals.

And St. Etienne are now in 3rd place in the table just below Marseilles and above Lyon,  with PSG now 7 points clear at the top.

Newcastle missed out on our top target Loic Remy in January to QPR, of all clubs, and the small London club now looks certain to be relegated after spending mountains of money on players over the last couple of years – since they were bought by Tony Fernandes.

Loic will leave QPR if they are relegated in May – the release clause is in his contract – but Newcastle will not be interested in a player who turned us down only a couple of months ago.

And we missed out on our top target last summer, Luuk de Jong, of FC Twente,  who went to Borussia Mönchengladbach, so we are hoping we can still attract Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the summer. but with some top clubs now interested in him – it could be tough.

What do you think?

Think ppl are missing the point about Carroll at liverpool! Rodgers problem with Carroll isnt that he can’t play touch football, it’s that he doesn’t compliment the way Luis Suarez plays! He did an interview recently about how they are basing tactics around getting the best from Suarez! In the striker position they want players that can interchange with central and wide positions as suarez gets a free role and sturridge stays central when luis is wide and will go wide when suarez comes central!
Carroll is a lot better on the floor than people give him credit for, his signing would be an improvement on our current squad and if the lads dropped nearly half his wages (which he will have) to come back to nufc then fair play to him! Ive always said you get an extra 25% from carroll just by putting him in black and white! If he signs then we need to get behind him, hes made a mistake in leaving but he was a young lad, seems hes doing all he can to come back and thats the exact kind of player we need! Imagine in 2 seasons an all geordie strike partnership of campbell and carroll….

Talksport talkshite. Would 8.5mill get him? I’m pretty sure St Ettienne will be aiming higher than that for him. Particularly with all the ‘reported’ interest in him.

Arsenal are reportedly close to wrapping up a deal for Jovetic, who would play a similar role in the Gunners set up to PEA, so massive pinch of salt with this story.

Not sure on the Carroll link mate gold has made certain assurances to allardyce about transfers, Carroll is top of there list and there prepared to meet Liverpool’s price tag, can’t see him coming here at all
But like you say nothing’s for certain in football

PEA will go for 15-21m! Hes very ambitious and is all about football, took a wage drop to leave milan for first team games! He plays a lot wider than jovetic too, arsenal would be a good fit for him but i reckon spurs will take him on personally!

TADS – Really? Well you are better placed than me to comment on English based news and rumours. So you may well be right. Plus is WHU are willing to pay the rumoured £17m – then more fool them.

I know they have recently made firm contact about Bony this past fortnight, and I read today they want Remy. So maybe they are looking at plan b and c for the summer!

Emerick – Aubameyang remains our #1 target.

I’m not sure that anyone can say he is doing all he can to come back. He may well be, but no one really knows.

I haven’t heard any rumours about his heavy drinking or alleged drug taking for a while, but I know last time I saw him, towards the end of last season he was in aspers with about 5 drinks lined up in front of him.

If he has managed to sort that side of his life while away from old friends and life up here, maybe he isn’t best suited to coming back to his friends and life here which obviously encouraged that.

Injury free he could be a useful weapon, but only at the right price, very low, and not at the expense of others.

Jovetic can play left, and they would probably both end up playing off a central striker, similar to how Walcott/Gervinho and Podolski do. Still at 8.5 million, this story is utter twoddle.

The point that you have pointed out surely applies to our team and our players.

How will Carroll bring out the best in our creative players? How can playing Carroll as a target man improve the way that Ben Arfa plays for example?

It cannot. Ben Arfa needs to be the focal point of our team and we need players who compliment his, Cabayes, Cisse’s etc… style, not Pardews.

That’s the point people are missing. Yes Carroll is good on the ground but he either a very expensive sub or Pardews main striker in a long ball team.

For me it would be better to sign a young striker like that lad from Portugal who is 6’4” to put on the bench and a big CB like Sane of Bordeaux to hit at set pieces rather than Carroll.

We need a creative AM to push Cabaye and a LW to start over Jonas. We lack creativity, ideas and cutting edge and that is a reason we are struggling this season. Carroll will not change that.

I feel that PEA has gone, another mistake from the lack of investment last Summer.

If you stand still you go backwards.

Now his price has doubled and there are more sharks to contend with.

Couldn’t agree more mate, tbh the signing of Carroll for me would indicate a horrible return to hoofball and krul leading our assists for the season!!!

not sure you’ll get PEA for 8-10m any more. also there is no chance of Bony going to west ham, chelsea are seriously looking at him according to report in the papers today.

You will always be our French king!!
Don’t hear much tbh only asked about Carroll because of all the Ben arfa swap deal BS!
As its been reported fat sam is stalling on contract talks, gold thinks that carroll would ensure fat sam and cement west ham in the top half, apparently carroll is also quite happy in London and wants regular 1st team footy to help him get back in the England set up

Beattie – I know we tried our best to get PEA this winter transfer window, but he was insistent on seeing out this season with St. Etienne. €10mil was a good offer, but even after the wi shut, we were in constant communications with players representative’s and his club.

But with all the rumoured clubs in for him, coupled with his form this season, possibly would out price us, not just on transfer fee, but wages as well.

I think HBA needs to prove his fitness before becoming the focal point. For me his best position is as the central attacking midfielder, with Socks and Cabaye behind. This leaves us needing top class wide attacking players. Goofy would be solid back up, but I think we need to improve on both sides.

On top of that, central defence and right back need strengthening, along with bringing in some top potential of 18-21 who could do a job now, but have the potential to become top class. In the mould of Bigi and Haidara.

Swiller – wouldn’t read too much into that. Bony wants to play through the middle wherever he goes, if he goes. So pretty much rules out Chelsea who have Torres, Ba and Lukaku (when back) who all want that role.

What do people think of Charlie Austin? I think he could be worth a shot, has had a fantastic season in the Championship. I am a Carroll fan and I would have him back if the price is right. Also on Sakho, if we purchased him I guess he would replace Saylor? If so we would not have a single Englishmen in our first 11, to me that would be an extremely sad sight.

Agreed, Chelsea are overstocked through the middle, but if they wanted two Drog-style players and they manage to offload Torres to some rich muppets…
Also, Bony plays for Vitesse who are basically a feeder club for Chelsea; they’re owned by Merab Jordania who’s one of Abramovich’s buddies. Word in Holland is it’s Abramovich stumping the cash and Chelsea gets first dibs on Vitesse youth.

We need to get real about Loic Remy. Ok he took up QPR’s silly money in January, but I doubt that very few people would have turned down such an offer.
If we can sign him for a decent fee and on reasonable wages, stuff what happened a couple of months ago, sign him up.
