There was a report out yesterday that Newcastle would be interested in signing Loic Remy this summer, if QPR ar relegated, which now looks likely.
Loic Remy with Harry Redknapp in January
And we put a poll out yesterday asking readers whether we should sign Remy in the summer, after he had rejected Newcastle to get around £80K/week at QPR, which is all the small London club could offer – cash.
The results are almost right down the middle, and we think Newcastle will not go after Remy this summer, but will turn to other targets, in a bid to replace Demba Ba, which we didn’t do in January.
It’s rare that Mike Ashley and Derek LLambias want a player who has publicly shunned Newcastle – and they only want players who want to come to Newcastle, and that’s worked out well over the last three years.
That didn’t seem to be the case with Loic in January, after everything had been agreed, and we think he will again go to the highest bidder, and maybe one of the top six clubs in the Premier League.
There again, if he agreed to walk on his hands and knees to St. James’ Park from Loftus Road, then there’s a chance we could still sign him – but we doubt it. 😀
