Steven Taylor Injured In Training – Doubtful For Benfica Game

Some really bad news today that Steven Taylor has suffered a knee injury in training this morning, and is now doubtful for the massive game with Benfica tomorrow night.

Steven Taylor – injured this morning in training

This is not good news and we suppose that if Steven cannot play it will be a chance for big Mike Williamson to get a game for Newcastle, but the Newcastle defense has to be at their very best tomorrow night – if we have any chance of going through to the Europa League semi-finals.

James Perch can also play at center-back, but we’re not sure he’s available after missing the game against Fulham on Sunday.

It seems that Steven cannot play too many games without picking up an injury – but we think if James Perch is available he will probably partner Yanga-Mbiwa in central defense, and the two of them have played well before for Newcastle in Europe.

There’s no more news about how serious the knee injury is, and whether he will also miss the upcoming Sunderland game on Sunday, but here’s yet another case where a top player at the club is injured in training.

It seems to have happened far too many times this season, and Cheick Tiote is still out after picking up an injury a week or so ago in training.

Comments welcome.

Note:  For those attending Thursday’s game (and Sunday too) please bring your scarves to the the game, as there is an effort to recreate the atmosphere at Alan Shearer’s testimonial, and hopefully inspire our lads to two famous wins.

Could have done without this before a derby game. Typical. Williamson fills me with dread. Benfica would tear him to bits. Even sunderlands front line would have a field day against him. I better clean my boots……

Thought he was playing too often, it was a matter of time before Saylor was injured again.

Lets hope its not too bad or Colo is fit……

If Willo gets the nod…then it’s time for him to step up and earn his paycheck. He’s got a potentially world class centre-back that will partnering him in Yanga-Mbiwa. And players like Cabs Anita Marveaux and Sissoko infront of him who can keep the ball well….keep the faith lads!

Ibiza.. it must be a delayed reaction to when the ball hit him NOT on the hand last week. His acting must have gotten badly bruised!

Yeah, luckily the medics have confirmed that it wasn’t even a hilluseination. It was only a minor spelling mistake

We may as well just forfeit the match. There’s no point in competing if Willo and Simmo are both starting. We’ve got absolutely no chance.

What’s the deal with our training methods. There must be something wrong as we seem to have lots of players injured in training. Also we have lots of hamstring injuries which suggests somethings wrong.
This not sometyhing new though as we’ve had loads of injuries every season for the last 20 years.

This is a disaster. Hopefully we won’t be needing to defend

Maybe our coaches are useless. We’ve had some good assistants in past like Hughton & Pearson but I’m not sure Carver or Beardsley have anything but passion and loyalty to bring to the table
