Debuchy, Steven Taylor And Tiote All Start Against Sunderland

Sunderland_2

As expected Mathieu Debuchy, Steven Taylor and Cheick Tiote return to the starting line-up this afternoon, but 20 year-old Massadio Haidara is on the bench and Jonas Gutierrez starts at left back, as Alan Pardew goes for experience.

So six of the starting eleven – Krul, Yanga-Mbiwa, Gutierrez,  Cabaye, Sissoko and Cisse – also started the game on Thursday night against Benfica – whereas 10 started the game against Fulham, who also played in the previous game in Lisbon against Benfica.

Sylvain Marveaux gets another well deserved start today, and the bench is very strong indeed –  Rob Elliot, Massadio Haidara, James Perch, Vurnon Anita, Hatem Ben Arfa, Adam Campbell and  Sunderland slayer  Shola Ameobi.

Three local lads could be involved, with Steven Taylor starting and strikers  Shola Ameobi and 18 year-old Adam Campbell on the bench.

Gateshead born Danny Graham starts up front for Sunderland today.

We must get the win today, and it will see Newcastle in 11th place in the league table with 39 points.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Newcastle (4-2-3-1): Tim Krul; Mathieu Debuchy, Steven Taylor, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Jonas Gutierrez; Cheick Tiote, Yohan Cabaye (c); Sylvain Marveaux, Moussa Sissoko, Yoan Gouffran; Papiss Cisse
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Massadio Haidara, James Perch, Vurnon Anita, Hatem Ben Arfa, Adam Campbell, Shola Ameobi

How come Tiote is straight back into the team amd Anita is dropped? Though I don’t mind seeing Tiote if he is on form

Possibly our strongest team. Only addition would be Ben Arfa ofcourse for Tiote and Sissoko playing in Tiote’s position

we have a lot of fresh legs although slightly concerned about tiote’s enthusiasm, but I trust Pardew;s judgement. Lets give the mackems a wacking! HWTL

Steven Taylore was never injured. He was rested for the Benfica game, Pardew was worried that resting our best defender would be seen by some fans as basically “giving up the tie” and so it was banded about that Steven was injured. (Never a single official quote, just banded about) The bigger picture was that Steven was vital for todays game, we still aren’t safe from the drop, today is a big game and much more important for the club than winning the Europa Cup.

shane, very true, debuchy was also fit for benfica but not chosen, as was tiote. imagine saying you were starting simmo and willo out of choice and listening to the groans

we had enough with bigi alone. astute by pardew and was oh so close to coming off

Debuchy wouldn;t have been picked for Benfica even if he was on top form banging in three goals a game. He wasn’t elegible for Euro, we picked Mbiwa over him.

Feed Tiote raw meat before the game, so he’s mot too hungry, put Marv on speed so’s he can run for 95 mins. Sub Benny and Mackemslayer on in second half when we’re two up. Good bench great starting lineup

Its a shame really, he could have provided more for Cisse down the right with his penetrative runs. Something simmo doesn’t really offer.

Cisse…. Debuchy couldn’t even play benfica because he was ineligible, and stop saying cabayes head might have been turned after a pointless innocuous paper rumour.
