News in the Daily Mirror that AC Milan continue toi be interested in Newcastle’s 25 year-old Dutch International goalkeeper Tim Krul.
Tim Krul – AC Milan interested
Krul was injured in the second half of the Sunderland disaster on Sunday, when he dislocated his shoulder, and he is out for the rest of the season, and will undergo surgery on the shoulder next week.
The news is that Milan will come in with a £12M offer for Tim, but we don’t think that will be enough to have Mike Ashley agree to a deal for a player who signed on at Newcastle back in 2005, as a 17 year-old..
Tim got a new extended contract only last year, and the contract runs for another four years, and certainly Newcastle will not want to lose one of their best players, who will only get better as he gets more experience.
QPR’s Brazilian international goalkeeper Julio Cesar is also being looked at by Milan, and of course if QPR are relegated a number of their players will leave, via release clauses they have had inserted in their contracts.
But it seems Tim Krul is the number one target of the Italians, and one barrier Milan have in signing Cesar is the huge wages he’s getting at QPR – said to be £70K/week – so how QPR can balance their books with small gates of only 18,000, when they are paying out these ridiculously high wages,is a mystery to a lot of people.
The fact is they will not be able to balance their books if this spending continues, but that’s what the UEFA Financial Fair Play Rules will insist on, within a season or two.
Newcastle fans should expect a number of big clubs to come in for some of our top players this summer, but we are hoping that Mike Ashley will ask for high prices (ridiculous would be even better).
