The tragic news was announced this afternoon, that Ryan Taylor has suffered another ACL knee injury, after he hadn’t even returned to the first team, after suffering the same injury last August.
Ryan Taylor – in happier times at Newcastle
It’s a severe blow to Ryan, who will now probably miss most – if not all – of next season.
It seems that on Wednesday afternoon and evening, Ryan has been inundated with messages of support from Newcastle’s fans.
On his twitter account this is what Ryan said on Wednesday night:
“Before and I’ll be back 1 day in the near future. Once again thank you for your support, it means so much to me.”
“Thanks for all the supportive messages everyone. It means a lot. For me it’s just another hurdle to overcome in my career. I’ve been here.”
If you’d like to send Ryan a message of support that will help him through this difficult time – here’s his twitter account.
Ryan has so far played 91 times for Newcastle, since signing on from Wigan in January of 2009, and we are hoping he will be able to add a lot to that total, before he finishes his career at our club.

I didn’t see the game, I generally only go out to watch us or games that are expected to be crackers. He seems to have stepped up a gear the last few weeks, I won’t argue with that. However too many times this year he hasn’t done enough. Until about 2 months ago most West Ham fans I know preferred Carlton Cole to Carroll, and felt he did more when in the team. For me that is as damning as it gets.
He has unique abilities, agreed, but it is heart not head that has more people favouring him.
I have nothing against the lad, and whether he comes back or not, I hope he achieves the potential he showed when I first watched him and sent scout reports off to Preston prior to his loan deal. I still have them, and they are among the most glowing reports I’ve written, that and a certain Adam Johnson. I just feel that with the way we spend, the money could be better served elsewhere.

Comment #42Lesh…There is a lot of it. It’s going to happen and does at all clubs, but with this many you do have to ask what we’re doing. It seems way out of proportion with other clubs consistently.
What a thing to be consistent with aye, bloody injuries 🙂

Comment #43Actually, all Carroll has to do is come back and regain his form for half a season and all of a sudden he’s worth 20 million plus. That scenario might appeal to the ego and business instincts of MA.
But as I’ve mentioned, don’t see Andy taking the pay cut that would allow the move.

Comment #44Jimmy…I wonder how many times Ashley could pull that off?
Sell Carrol for good money.
Carroll loses form.
Returns to Newcastle at cut down price.
Carroll regains form.
Carroll get sold for good money, but not as good as before and so on.
It could act as some sort of NUFC investment fund.

Good Morning. On the possibility of Andy returning I watched the West Ham game. He played very well as of old. He certainly looked a lot fitter than when I last saw him though not many referees would be so lenient. Reading the above I don’t think Pardew has to become Fat Sam in style of play. He would provide an attacking option but we would need the 2 pacy wingers mentioned to sign to get the best out of him. Jarvis was bought by Allardyce for the purpose of playing the hoofball style that many hate. You make a good point that Cisse and
Andy could make it work whereas Ba was not inclined. I still would
prefer alternative options but there is an attraction of having a local lad back. Carroll’s would find it irrestible and also see it as a way to get the England shirt back.
On another point I have to say seeing the Wizard’s post to himself made me shout Yes ! The multiple posting myth and the accusations which frustrated and annoyed me and others had been exposed. You Sir made the case of the possibility of such a thing happening- so making yourself the perfect Juror as a fellow poster Ian Toon had said .
Well I hope this will encourage others to return. It’s back to football but I was amused what a great illustration of the point.

Comment #46100% with you there Ibiza, but any review needs to be thorough, objective and actioned.
By the way, chef’s still not sobered up so breakfast’s gonna be a cold one – meats, cheese, fruit and coffee ok today?
And, to compound your inconvenience, todays Ibiza Bugle’s still not printed.
Rest assured, a full staffing review will be undertaken today and heads will roll!

I hear what you are saying, but it is easy too lose confidence in someone, even if it is sub consciously and then players can hang on to the ball too long, shoot, or play the wrong pass. It certainly has seemed the case with a number of players when Campbell has come on and been well placed to receive it.
I agree, it is unlikely with Ba and Cisse, and it is probably more down to Ba wanting out and a big pay day. Hopefully his confidence will come back, although it is difficult to rebuild when we are not playing particularly well.

Comment #48Pushy…I did say I wouldn’t get in to it anymore as it has already been given way too much air time, but it did make me smile last night when it happened 🙂
I think I should have expanded on my Cisse / Carroll partnership. I wouldn’t expect that to be our normal plan really, but the option would be there. We don’t start Shola often, but when we do I’d rather it was for Carroll for instance.
I get why people are nervous about our style being typical of fat sam and I don’t really have anything to prove that it wont be. I have seen enough patches of well played football to think that is the desired finished product and do believe that setbacks have altered the manager and players psyche somewhat this season in to panic mode – which is an issue in itself, but not a definitive answer that this is what Pardew wants from his team.
As always, time will tell.

Comment #50Lilongwe, I defer to your greater knowledge and admit to a soft spot for big Andy.
He was something else in that 1st half season back in the Premiership though. Still love him for that. A rare sight in football.

Comment #51Lilongwe…Don’t get me wrong, it certainly could be, it’s just my opinion that it isn’t, far from conclusive I know. Spot on with it being hard to regain confidence whilst the team around him are playing as they are, he came in to a team ready to take on anyone last year and everything clicked.
I can feel a speech about synergy coming on 🙂
Lesh..I am 100% confident many reviews will be taking place this summer. Thank you for the update, he was a useless chef anyway. Not a problem, can I take my cold cuts and tea (this morning only) in the captains cabin…i may tea bag him in his sleep.

Comment #53Ashley would also see Carroll as an appreciating asset which will appeal to his business nature. I loathe the Pulis and Allardyce brand of football and if it were to mean we played like his teams then
forget it. Pardew out.

Can any of the England based friends confirm the news that carver and a scouting team were at west ham last night?

Comment #70Torq…Good morning. Real shame about Raylor.
Beattie…Argument? You think I was trying to make a point that even some of the most highly rated managers in the league point to tiredness as a reason for poor displays until the last 20 minutes?
But yes, Man City did win, apparently not deservedly, quite surprising for the current league champions with world class players and manager against Wigan.

Was Mancini using tithe excuse in September? Is Mancini giving it as an excuse week in week out? Was Mancini talking about the physical or mental tiredness of chasing man united who are so far clear?
Next you’ll be saying ‘you see guys even the winner of the marathon blamed tiredness for finishing 3rd and only clocking 2 hours 15. We can relate to that.’.
Poppy cock sir.

Haha, I think most of us have a soft spot for the lad. Badly advised previously, but we all love to see a local lad come through and do well. I’m just trying to be objective, and base my views on what I have seen of our spending habits, style of player etc.
I think a back to form Andy Carroll banging in goals and flicking the ball on for Campbell to score in a few years time would give every geordie and Newcastle fan goose bumps, unfortunately, I don’t see it happening.

If Taylor is the reason for our bad season, we might as well just give up hope for the 2013/14 season now as well.
So, who do we want as manager when we get back to football in 2014/2015? 🙂

Comment #80Ameobi, thanks for the kind words.
I think Raylor is a good pro with excellent dead ball skills, by all accounts a nice fella and yes that was a legendary strike.
Just, not a player I really fancy seeing on the starting 11 team sheet though. I wouldn’t think I’m on my tod here.
