Premier League Results Go Newcastle’s Way

There were three Premier League matches last night, and the results went Newcastle’s way,

andy carroll west ham

Andy Carroll – played for West Ham last night

Wigan, West Ham and Fulham played their games in hand, and Wigan lost 1-0 at Manchester City, whom they will meet in the final of the FA Cup in a few weeks, and they played very well and were unlucky not to get at least a point.

West Ham again picked up a good point at home, with a 2-2 draw against Manchester United and Fulham were beaten 3-0 at Craven Cottage by Chelsea.

That leaves Wigan 3rd bottom on 31 points and five points behind Newcastle, with a slightly worse goal difference and they still have one game in hand.

Wigan are one of the worst teams in the Premier League this season – but they will represent England next season in the Europa League, since Manchester City, the other FA Cup finalists are already in the Champions league.

But the fixtures have piled up for Wigan with the final being on 11th May and the Latics also have six league games still to play by May 19th, so that’s 7 games in the next 29 days for Wigan.

Wigan have a small squad so that could tell on them, unless they start winning games like they did last season to avoid the drop.

But it could also be the second time in three years that England have a team relegated from the Premier League as one of the three Europa League representatives, Birmingham did that two years ago, and Swansea the League Cup winners (Capital One Cup), are also a representative next season.

If Newcastle can put a good run together, we are just 5 points behind 9th placed Swansea, but we’ll have to play a lot better than we did against Sunderland on Sunday.

West Ham got to 39 points, with the point they picked up last night – and look to be safe in the league now.

Some good news, but we still have to do our bit.

It will be interesting to see Wigan in Europe.

Since the formation of the Football League in 1888, every club which has played in the top flight has at least one relegation to their except for one – who?????

Morning to you. I know what you were I,plying about Mancini and you were pointing out the fact that players do get tired but if you weren’t referring it back to Pardew why say it in such a way.

Anyway I can’t stay here for the moment as I have some work to do but what I’d like you to do is to put your tongue slightly out of your mouth and then blow to create a long farting noise some refer to as a raspberry because that’s what I’m doing right now in conjunction with your tired excuse for that tired excuse.

I think putting a run together is out of the question, the way we have played so far this season, another lucky win and a draw from somewhere would make me happy

For anyone thinking this second injury will finish Raylor’s career, just take a look at what Ian Harte achieved without being able to run, dribble, tackle but being able to take a good dead ball and cross it. Champions League semi, spanish top flight, premiership games, lots of international caps.

    Let’s look at the positives!

Rev Beattie…That is certainly true to an extent, I was highlighting an issue, but I wasn’t applying it to our whole season. There can be some middle ground without you assuming it’s me trying to completely remove any blame from Pardew.

You know where you can stick your raspberry x

Someone mentioned we don’t play hoofball under Pardew and only Tiote is at it. You must be watching a different game all the time then.

When we do pass it around we look hopeless going forward. We are quite clueless under Pardew in that aspect. We don’t have any attacking nuances and our off the ball movement is pathetic. Thus we end up hoofing most of the time.

This is where Carroll comes in. We can also play it on the ground as Carroll is equally very good at his feet. His hold up play is excellent as well. Just because he comes in doesn’t mean we have to hoof it.

He can add another dimension to our attack and if we do hoof it he’s going to be there bullying defenses and breaking them down.

Carroll performance yesterday really won me over. Practically no defence has been able to cope with his raw power upfront this season when he’s on form.

I’d like to see them go down, but it really is only down to that challenge on Haidara and the way they handled it afterwards.

Been away a while but I come on here and what do you know – an article with a picture of AC.

So, I haven’t been entirely keeping up with stuff – do I have to be part of a geometry club, axis of evil or hedge trimmer/ fence sitting society?

I miss OV it was all so much easier to understand.

At the end of the 1912-1913 season Arsenal where relegated to League 2. This marks the only time in the clubs history that Arsenal suffered relegation.

There are new stalking laws you know. You do seem a bit obsessed with mentioning me in every one of your posts. And not in good way!

You need to get a new focus and stop devoting so much time to me.. There’s a whole blog of other people here for you to do that to.

Rotonda…For footballing reasons I’d prefer Stoke to go down, agreed. Although on that basis shouldn’t we go down? 😉

I get your point on Carroll, but we can’t really compare the team that Carroll was in and the one that finished 5th. I do understand your thoughts on what his inclusion would do to our approach.

Also…. i notice yesterday that you had a random rant at me several hours after my last post about anything. So who is stalking who. The best thing from now on is for us not to enter discussion about anything.

Andy Carroll is an option . I do think we need more than 1 striker to sign as we lost best loven and ba. Shola ain’t good enough and cisse can’t do it on his own and needs rests . Come on blind not to get two different types in big Andy and gameiRo

Great that the results last night went our way, but we must’nt get complacent. Survival is best achieved by winning our matches rather that hopping for the failure of others.
I remember the last time we went down, right up to the last day, we clung to the hope that some team, (any team) would do worse than us, but in the end we were relegated.
If we do go down we will not be promoted under Pardew so survival is a must.
