When this season is over one question that should be asked and answered, is how come Newcastle players have picked up so many injuries this season, and too many in training.
Alan Pardew – two more injuries
And Alan Pardew has just said that French U21 International Marveaux is injured, and will miss the game tomorrow at West Brom and that Cheick Tiote is now very doubtful for the game.
Marveaux has suffered another groin injury, which is what he was suffering from a week ago, when he was held back from the Benfica second leg game.
And Cheick Tiote is said to be a big doubt for tomorrow with yet another a hamstring problem.
This was the report Alan Pardew just gave on injuries:
“We’ve got a couple of injuries on top of those we knew about,” “Cheick’s a big doubt, and Sylvain Marveaux will miss out with a groin injury.”
We’ve had an unusual series of injuries this season, and only last Sunday Tim Krul dislocated his shoulder and is out for the season.
And this week Ryan Taylor picked up another ACL knee injury, and now we are told Marveaux and Tiote are out for the vital game tomorrow – presumably injured in training.
Is this just bad luck?

Comment #43why does anyone want anita to play….hes the worst midfielder ever to play for nufc and i do include des hamilton….
to me hes an alibi player…he hides, dosnt want the ball, makes no runs, nowhere to be seen…..frankly i rather play gosling (and that says a lot)…anita was supposed to this playmaker defensive midfielder (and purple too)…just cant see it….a lightweight…rubbish in my opinion….there go and object (i do think hes better suited as right back though)

Comment #44Ernie Hem, in fairness marv has been fit 9/10th of this season, many a time AP had him as a sub, same with Anita who was coming in to some lovely form, dropped sitting on the bench getting 20 mins here and there, I really don’t think our manager is strong enough to drop some of his purple?????? players, that is a massive weakness in a coach, massive!

Comment #45E we home knows that part of the ashley model was to but players with bad tempers and injury prone players because their value is not balanced with their talent.
Marveaux is injury prone. We all knew that. We sign injury prone players, ill tempered players or players with release clauses/contract issues.
The only players I’m surprised we got were Cisse and Mapou. 2 players yet to be injured.

I think that perch is best for DM now. Need somebody who can tackle, anita isn’t the best for me at that, don’t think he is up to being a DM currently, not keen on his tackling really.
I think with cabs and sissoko in there too you can afford a player who is mainly defensive in perch, he can also play a decent simple ball and does so much more often than tiote.
Not against anita, just prefer perch.

You are a walking example of a fan that only watches Newcastle United games and is totally ignorant of other teams, leagues and countries.
Either that or you’re saying things to start arguments because no rational fan of football would say such stupid things.
He might not have shown continued excellent form but any fan with half a brain can see glimpses of a real player in Anita.

it has to be…no such thing as bad luck. There is definitely something wrong somewhere in our training. the chances of us getting as many injuries as we do as often as we do must be extremely low yet it continues to happen under every manager and backroom staff team.

That’s sad. I liked you once upon a time.
I suppose it comes down to whether you prefer technical players who could in theory play out of trouble and build sustained attacks through ball retention or whether you want to invite pressure by losing quality in the middle and sacrifice technique for a player good in the tackle.
I think players like Perch invite pressure. If Anita and Perch both played you wouldn’t see the best of Anita but Anita in with Sissoko and Cabaye would certainly showcase the little mans ability.

not ignorant not to watch other league, i mainly watch prem league, dont watch lower league much if at all and watch champs league but not too much of foreign leagues other than a bit of spanish.
I just think in newcastle anita hasn’t done much, not as bad as suggested above but not a stand out star. He keeps the ball and moves but for a DM he isn’t a good tackler and also I haven’t seen anything of him in a toon shirt to suggest he has a good range of passing, nice little tapping stuff but nothing longer distance.
Might be due to lack of games, him adjusting to the system we play, lesser players than at ajaz etc etc…it hasn’t been easy moving from a passing team at the top of the league to a sloppy team in the bottom half….so see why he has struggled. In his defense though he did improve until he was dropped.

Comment #62If anyone watched an Ajax game on the second half of last season you would see the talent Anita has.
Pardew has mishandled him. I’d rather put a player in the match from day 1 to get used to the tempo of football in this league and allow him to make mistakes than to give 10 minute cameos and make him watch from the sidelines.
If Anita had played more he’d be used to the league and showing you all up with your blatant ignorance of football.

Comment #63Tomorrow i want to see Ben Arfa in the “Sissoko” role, and Sissoko as a defensive midfielder/box to box with Cabaye slightly more offensive. Jonas right and rest of the team picks itself.
I’m afraid it won’t happen though, and that we’ll see Ben Arfra right and Jonas AND Cabaye as DMs “just in case”.
Have a good feeling though! We have everything to play for.

Comment #64beefman…I threw out some “stats” earlier about what has been our most played team this season. Granted it came from Wiki so needs checking, but I was shocked to see Marv and Anita are both in the top 11 starters this season.
Take a look:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012%E2%80%9313_Newcastle_United_F.C._season
I will add though, that I don’t think Anita has been given a long enough run to hit any real form. I think the lad is class, but hasn’t had a chance to settle to date, but nor has he earned, imo, the right to be a guaranteed starter…but then neither have many of our team this season.

it’s a shame you dont like me anymore haha.
Thats where i disagree though, i think perch is a good player on the ball, he doesn’t often lose it and is a solid DM. tackles well and also moves the ball on quickly to the better players around him, knows what he can and can’t do and thats a great strength of his i think.

It is ignorant if you don’t watch other leagues yet feel you can comment on them.
I wouldn’t talk about the Portuguese league like I knew what I was on about when I don’t watch any football from there.
It’s ok to say I haven’t seen enough of a player to for, an opinion or to say for me he hasn’t showed anything, but to rule him out as being rubbish and worse than Des Hamilton is plain ignorance.
Not aimed at you btw.

fair enough then, i get where you’re coming from with that.
I just think for us aniat struggles. He may have been great at ajaz, wont deny that, never saw much of him and the games i saw ajax play city cant say he stood out to me, thats if he played i dont know.
Just I think moving from a passing team, which dominates their league (or at least always around the top) is much easier than playing for a mid-low table prem league team who play more long balls and dominate a lot less, more on the backfoot with us.
Not saying he isn’t good, just not sure if he is right for us at this time or possibly at all. At man utd he would look good as he wouldn’t have a lot of pressure, would have a lot of the ball so more time and space to pass plus more players would make good runs for him.
Time will tell, hope he comes good and gets some more game time.

The games in which he has played (which by the way is too few to form a well balanced opinion) he has been asked to be Tiote or be Cabaye. He’s been stuck on the right wing, stuck at full back and asked to be the warrior Tiote is.
In this rigid awful football system nobody has shined, so I don’t understand the abuse Anita is getting. He is a ball player. Good in the tackle but better at finding space and passing the ball. That’s his job.
He isn’t Ben Arfa skinning players for all their worth or Cisse smashing them in from 30 yards, he’s a midfielder that sits deep, supports the defence and plays the ball out.
One of his biggest attributes is composure but the style Pardew plays voids all composure Anita has because when the ball isn’t flying over his little head it’s coming at him whilst 3 players surround him or he’s looking for a player that simply refuses to offer any movement or support.

I do think you need players who can put in a tackle…not at the total expense of being able to pass/keep the ball but soembody who tackles well and anita can’t be that guy which is what he would be if alongside sissoko and tiote.
Hell if we were safe it would be worth a try to see if we could win buy dominating in a passing sense more, but we aren’t so hard to risk him now…but the alternatives aren’t great.
For me its him or perch in that DM role i think.

That’s a different story. I agree he’s wasted but I cannot understand why you would say he is the worst midfielder we’ve had since (or even worse than) Des Hamilton.
The lad would have many suitors all over Europe if we decided to sell him and we would easily get our money back, he isn’t a bad player and is highly regarded all over Europe.
The manager is not using the right players in the right position in the right tactics for any of the team to show any quality.
If Anita is worse than Des Hamilton the surely Saylor is worse than Darren Peacock, Canaye is worse than Dumas and Cisse is worse than Guivarch.

Anita has played 35 times this season 8 of which he came of the bench, thats a lot of games and he has made minimal impact on our squad. He may be a ball player fair enough but when hes had the ball in the PL hes lost it or missed a pass more than he has done anything positive with it imo
Am not saying hes a bad player at all but hes not shined this season, he hasn’t broken into the squad and he has added nothing more than depth so far.
Also for a ball player he doesnt seem to like to show for the ball.
Now he is a Carr buy so that buys him time and this is his first season in a very different league so its harsh to judge him so prematurely either way but just because he was good in one league doesn’t mean he will excel in the PL. He needs to do more in the remaining games, pre season and next season but he has to earn the right to start now
