The Newcastle team has just been announced, and it seems the reliable James Perch has been brought into defensive midfield, and Massadio Haidara starts at left-back.
This is Massadio’s very first Premier League start, but this lad has so far looked a good player for Newcastle, and Massadio is one of three changes made by manager Alan Pardew, with Perch coming in, and of course Rob Elliot starting in place of the injured Tim Krul.
It’s that 4-2-3-1 formation with Cabaye and Perch in front of the back four and Gutierrez, Sissoko and Gouffran just behind lone striker Papiss Cisse up front.
Massadio Haidara – first Premier League start
As expected, veteran goalkeeper Steve Harper is on the bench, as is Ben Arfa, and also 18 year-old local lad Adam Campbell.
We need to see a spirited performance from Newcastle at the Hawthorns today, after the listless performance and humiliating defeat last Sunday, and we need to get a result.
For West Brom the dangerous Lukaku starts up front and Irish International Shane Long is on the bench.
