Injury Update – Three Players Could Return Against Liverpool

We learned with some despair  yesterday that both Cheick Tiote and Sylvain Marveaux will miss the game at West Brom today, after both seemed to pick up injuries this week in training.

fab coloccini and alan pardew

Coloccini and Pardew earlier this season

This cannot all be bad luck as even now out players seems to be going down like nine-pins.

Alan Pardew gave some updates on the injury front an talked about Cheick and Sylvain Marveaux:

“Cheick hasn’t trained since Sunderland,” “We don’t think it’s serious, and we think he’ll be training next week and available for Liverpool. But he’ll miss Saturday’s game for sure. Sylvain will also miss out.”

So it seems Cheick picked up a knock at Sunderland and maybe that’s where Sylvain injured his groin again – since he’s also out, but it looks like he could also return against Liverpool – with any luck.

And good news that Fabricio Coloccini returned to full training this week, and this is what the Newcastle manager said about Colo:

“Colo’s training, although he hasn’t done full physical work yet,”  “That’s due to come next week, and fingers crossed that goes okay because it will be a big boost to us to have our captain back.”

And we reported earlier this morning that Newcastle will have to be very careful with Ben Arfa and that hamstring of his, as Alan had this to say about his French winger:

“I don’t think he’s ready,” “He’s working hard, but we still think he has a particular injury and we’re trying to manage it to make sure we don’t lose him for the last five games.” “We’re trying to be very clever with him to get the best out of him.”

Ben Arfa will be on the bench today – but with any luck Tiote, Marveaux and Coloccini will all be available for the Liverpool game at St. James’ Park next Saturday.

And Tim Krul will have the operation on his dislocated shoulder on Monday, and he’s out of the season.

If the price is right then bring him back home, it gives a much better than Shola, plus we can play Carroll up front on his own or alongside Cisse. The hoof ball talk is nonsense, West Ham for large parts of games have been keeping the ball on the deck.

Carroll, Andros Townsend and Sakho would do the job, plus maybe Scott Sinclair as i can’t see us getting Aubameyang.

Catchy…At this point I think most are questioning Pardew and regardless of the reasons, that is justified.

However, I don’t think there will be many who don’t want him to do well and turn it around at this stage as it’s our PL survival on the line.

Now is not the time for personal agendas, like it or not, he is our manager and his success or lack thereof will determine our fate. Who wouldn’t want to back him, at least for the next 5 games?

I wish our injuries weren’t discussed in the press conference. He can lie to the fans but not the press …

Why tell WBA Tiote, Marveaux are out? Let them, find out when the team sheet is posted.

i dont see why i should suddenly say, come on pardew,, you can do it,
my opinion has not changed on him , and i would be 2 faced if i started to back the guy,

my point has been all season long that we are in this mess because he is stubborn and unwilling to do the right thing,
most are quick to put this on injuries or lack of spending, when the truth is, you dont need a huge squad to have a style off football
our style has always been , see what the other team are doing then defend against it,,

i feel if we start to back the guy now, he will be here another season, setting us up for failure AGAIN

    so far this season

    33 played
    1 away win all season
no goals scored from free kicks or corners
17th worst defence in the league
19th worst away record (only reading worse)
we dont win away from home but our attck is better away from home than at home

a guy that trains the team defensivly 4 days aweek has got it so wrong

HOW CAN WE TRUST THE GUY

people still slagging Pardew astounds me considering all the injuries and suspensions and europa league campaign. He ain’t top draw but he is a good manager for a decent premiere league team as that is all we are at the moment. Get behind your club as we are stuck with him for a long time and he will prove his worth eventually

Certain people on this board are preaching about negativity when they want to see Ashley fail, and blame him for everything. I mean, it was Ashley’s decision to play Jonas at left-back last week, wasn’t it?

Catchy…I’m not suggesting you change your stance on Pardew, quite clearly you wouldn’t do that, nor should you. One thing I can never claim is that you are two faced with regards to your opinion, you have been relentless all along (yes, that is actually a compliment).

I want to be careful here not to put words in your mouth. I get your point that if he saves this season so to speak, then he would likely keep the backing of the board for more time (which quite frankly he might do anyway). Are you suggesting it would be better to be relegated in the hope that seals Pardews future and we get a new manager?

On a personal note. I apologise for throwing my toys out of the pram the other day, it has to happen sometimes, but as always I’d rather have a reasoned debate. I know in the past I have insulted you along with your opinion, as have you mine. Perhaps, we’d be best to just sticking to topic rather than dragging each other in to it?

For example, I am happy to accept that whilst negative about Pardew, that doesn’t make every aspect of your life negative, much like if someone doesn’t want Pardew kicked out right now it doesn’t make them a loser, just because you think Pardew is.

Pardew has been unlucky with injuries and Europa league etc

However, you can’t deny he should have done better.

Yes he wasn’t backed and that was a shocking decision but still. It’s not got that much better since January.

Also, I agree (obviously) Pardew isn’t a top draw manager, but our first team is. If we had a better manager, imagine what hatem, cisse, cabaye, moussa, debuchy etc could do.

The quality of the team deserves more.

Pardew should go at the end of the season. Not now though. Way too risky

Worst run in Prem history worse than relegation season.
Yet another FA Cup exit to a better team from a lower league.
Gave S’ton their first win (they were bottom at the time).
Gave Reading their first away win.
The heaviest derby defeat in 34 years …

    Playing unattractive unproductive football.
I have to admire the loyalty shown to him by some supporters.

But on top of that we have his press conferences and all the twisted words trying to spin blame away from himself.

We need to get rid as soon as the last whistle of the season blows.

proud…Long time no see, hope all is well.

Wreker…I don’t think anyone has a problem with getting a better manager come season end. But that for me, is not a reflection on Pardew or his season, just that if you can get better, then you should.

Still comes back to whether we would get better. Not blaming Ashley for the whole season, but there are still legitimate questions over his ambition for NUFC, which would dictate the type of manager he would look at, if he were to look for one at all.

2nd,, no no no,, i believe, we could lose every game and stay up,, i dont see stoke winning another game

yes , regardless i do see pardew being here next year, but i think the fans can have a massive say in that, we do have a voice,

regarding me being negative or not, i know in my normal everyday life, im happy go lucky, try my best at everything i do, ALWAYS WILLING TO LEARN, and help,

iv said before,, i like football, i love NUFC, and i will not just sit back and watch this train wreck happen, and i can see more and more seeing pardew the same way i do

he really treat us fans as if we are stupid, that he always knows best,
    🙁
i could do a much better job than him, that sqaud is good
