Newcastle Linked With Aston Villa Forward

News in the Sunday Mirror today that Newcastle are interested in Aston Villa’s 21 year-old striker/winger Andreas Weimann.

Andreas Weimann

Andreas Weimann – 21 year-old Aston Villa forward

Weimann’s current contract runs out next year, and there is some uncertainty on what his situation is,  since Aston Villa are yet to negotiate an  extension for the five times capped Austrian International.

Chris Hughton at Norwich ,as well as Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund are said to be monitoring the contract situation, and it seems that Newcastle are in that category too.

Weimann signed on at Aston Villa as a 14 year-old from his home town club Rapid Wein back in 2007, and came through the famous Aston Villa Youth Academy.

The youngster can play out wide, or as an out-and-out striker, and he’s been one of the few successes at Villa this season, scoring 11 goals in 33 appearances for the club

It remains to be seen if Aston Villa will offer the lad a decent contract, but from what we’ve seen of him at Villa, he looks a very good player with an eye for goal.

Andreas has played for all the Austrian Youth sides, and has been out on loan in the last couple of seasons to Watford, where he played 23 times with four goals over two separate loan spells.

The 5’11” forward has played 50 times for Aston Villa with 13 goals.

Would be a great signing if we get him.

My man of the match would be the bus that came on in the second half and was parked in front of our net.
Oh wait the parked bus still conceded a goal.

If he can score and keep onside – get him in.
Watching The Toon causes my right thigh to get a hammering.
This is caused by my right fist crashing into it with frustration every time we gave ball away in a non threatening position.. Many times in the final third. What is it with the training regime? Can’t they see one the main problems…. Simple passing and possession.
I was thinking of writing to the medical staff for advice on my thigh problem…. Then I looked at their record on injuries and recovery times…. Maybe just Deep Heat.
