Newcastle Touring South Africa This Summer – Maybe

We’re not sure if the news is true, so we’ll be a little careful, but it’s being reported that Newcastle United could be touring South Africa this summer, and that will be great news for fans in South Africa, who were so disappointed when last year’s tour was cancelled at the last moment.

nufc

The news is being reported by kickoff.com and Newcastle will play two games in late July, but again we caution this is not official – until announced by Newcastle United.

The games are said to be against Ajax Cape Town and Everton – and the dates are as follows:

Newcastle United v Ajax Cape Town (20th July 2013)

Newcastle United v Everton (27th July 2013)

Everton v Ajax Cape Town (27th July 2013)

Newcastle fans – especially those in South Africa – will remember last summer when we were supposed to be in the Vodacom Challenge – but that was canceled at the last moment, and the club had to scramble to get some pre-season games arranged.

And only a couple of months ago, Derek LLambias had said the sponsors had let Newcastle down at the last moment, and it seems Newcastle are trying to get something arranged earlier this year – so it will be more certain, and we’ll not have similar events happen this summer.

So this will be great news for our fans in South Africa – if it’s true – but we should probably take it with a (big) pinch of salt until it’s confirmed.

And it’s being partially confirmed by a Cape Town spokesman, Grant Pascoe, who gave the dates of the above matches – but says it is all still subject to the council signing off on the games and the relevant costs.

That doesn’t sound too cast iron certain to us.

Hopefully this is just a cover story that ashleys using so he can drop pardew into the middle of a cape town ghetto 🙂

Also doesn’t it seem a bit pointless going abroad to play a team we play twice every season?

Is this because the guy who owns Wonga is from South Africa ??

The way we have performed this season we should not be going away anywhere we should have them up at 5 in the morning doing running for 10 hours a day this pre season !!And then the other 10 hours of the day they should be working on free kicks and corners!

i really dont understand some of the guys that are comming on and shooting down suggested new managers becacuse they dont have experience

PDC,POYET, SOLKsJÆR, and many others have achieved more in there playing and managerial carrers than pardew has and ever will, right now EUROPE has many fantastic bright young managers that could get our squad top 6 ,

you put your trust in a guy that disnt even have a rep like harry for escaping the drop, more of a fuy who has failed everywhere he has. been

i could understand it if the guy had built somerhing at anothwr club and was trying to replicate it here, but he isnt, which ever way you look at it, that squad is fantasic, uet the guy still finds something to blame, the grass, fitness, small squad, crap kids, all of which he has had 2,5 years to sort out,

billson and manxpie are on another plannet with what they see ,

wishes do come true? Please please please. I’m a cape town south african and my biggest wish this season was to spend all my money in amsterdam at the Europa final. Second biggest wish is for one you to say “Hey i’ll pay your flight and ticket to St James Park and Arsenal on the last day.” Bring em to the mother city!

TELL someone who cares ED. There is nothing left to play for, not even pride with PARDEW at the helm.

The game at WBA was absolute dross, shocking stuff. Ameobi up front and nobody playing left hand side (LOL?)

I see that Saylor is the latest defender to come in for stick. How long before the ‘overrated’ Mbiwa or the ‘disappointing’ Haidara join Santon, Saylor, Simpson, Williamson, even Perch and Anita to the tried and failed list of back liners?

I wonder if its worth considering that the focus on our defense highlights all their glaring inadequacies simply because of a harsh truth – that they are woefully exposed time and again by a hapless midfield of mismatched and badly organised players, who not only leave their defensive counterparts open to repeated attack, but also have no drive to supply our equally-criticised forward line?

Whoever it is that drills our mid section needs replacing imo. the weakest mid in the league = weakest team in the league. I wonder if any statmongers out there can assess how busy our defenders and forwards are compared to other teams in the Prem?

mattoutremont – I feel so much better after that cheery post. 🙁

Anyone else sick of ‘over the line’?

Pardew told the Chronicle: “All we need to do is get over the line. I don’t care if we finish one from bottom, I really don’t.

“If we can get over the line, our fans know we have a good group of players. When everybody is fit and we can get one or two new signings in there we are a top-10 team. There is no doubt about that”.

There is doubt about that, Alan, there really is.

    @Tsunki

Was thinking about this the other day we actually could do with signing a proper holding midfielder not a destroyer but like someone who can tackle and keep the ball moving Carrick is one of the best at that he can do everything but he stays disciplined giving the backline cover as well as keeping possession well

Anita could actually perform this role for us if we could learn to keep the ball on the deck and give him a proper run in the team look at Swansea’s midfield most of them are actually smaller builds than Anita but because they move the about quickly they don’t get bullied off the ball cause teams cant get near them!!

Sissoko beside him would provide the relevant muscle if he was getting bullied with Cabaye in a free role in the centre to wander and keep the ball moving and If we really need to play Jonas we should play him on the right wing and make him press high up the field him and Debuchy done this well against Chelsea in the 1st half

Our problems are honestly so simple to fix its totally tragic why Pardew cant see it or does not want to see it this is the best job he is ever going to get in football and yet he just does not get it Carver and Stone obviously dont have a clue either cause Liverpool are not that great either even with Suarez in the team if we played the proper way we could dominate them would it not be great to secure our status with a win over that pack o shite!!??

Hate them just as much as the Mackems , their fans are scum and I hate how they always view us as a feeder club really want the win Saturday

“You wouldn’t feel that way if you had to pay to watch this week in, week out.”

I get why people are upset and angry, I do think though that people are losing sight of their points and negativity has well and truly set in.
