Magpies Linked With £18M Cameroon International Player Exchange Deal

The Daily Mirror are reporting today that Newcastle are interested in Marseilles center-back Nicolas N’Koulou – full name – Nicolas Alexis Julio N’Koulou N’Doubena.

Nicolas N’Koulou – 23 year-old Marseilles center-back

The Cameroon International turned 23 last month, and is interesting both AC Milan and Juventus but the Yaoundé, Cameroon born player seems keen to move to the English Premier League.

However, his transfer price is estimated at £18M, and if that’s true that will be too much for Mike Ashley to pay out for just one player – we brought in five French players in January for that same estimated amount.

Newcastle will need to bring in an experienced center-back this summer, whether or not Fabricio Coloccini leaves to return home to Argentina.

The news is that Marseilles may be willing to do a part-exchange deal and Marseilles are thought to be keen on Newcastle’s 27 year-old former England U21 captain Steven Taylor.

But let’s say it our loud – there’s just no way Newcastle would include local lad Steven Taylor in any part exchange deal – just no way.

This is what the Cameroon International had to say:

“The club and me are together on my future. If they receive an offer they can’t refuse, then we will have to part company.”

Newcastle may want to include Mike Williamson in any deal in the summer, since it’s very likely that Mike will leave Newcastle, although he’s already been linked with Swansea, who will be in the Europa League next season.

N’Koulou has played 36 times for Cameroon and joined Marseilles form Monaco in the summer of 2011, and has played 90 times for Marseilles and played around 86 times for Monaco.

Judging by his height and price. He’s not what we are looking for unless he’s going to play DM. He doesn’t win many aerial duels.

    Cash + Obertan and Perch

But they might see this guy as replacement for Colo, and have for example Douglas for free as replacement for S.Taylor ready.

Then buy Carroll and call it even. A lot of fans is not going to see it that way.

Ed, I think you’ll find that this story came from the Daily Fail, not the Mirror

The reason I mention it is because the author is Simon Jones, the same reporter who wrote an article back in January saying that we wanted to sign David Ngog. As some people may recall, that “story” turned out to be a deliberate hoax on twitter, and Jones was one of only a handful of journalists who fell for it. The article was subsequently removed from the Mail Online website, presumably because it had become an embarrassment to them. I suspect this article will suffer the same fate:

Haha yeah right no one wants Saylor anymore and I doubt we would be keen to lose our only real starting Englishman specially a when he’s getting international consideration these days

Plus this lad is meant to be Arsenal bound from what I’ve gathered…though so was Mbwia tbf

Interesting looking at one of the Bindippers” websites. They are actually nervous about playing us and in particular about Cisse! One even said he was anxious about them getting a caning! When was the last time we caned somebody?
    Funny seeing other people’s perspective.

Saylor living/playing in France? I’d definitely like to see a documentary about it, if it happened, the culture clash would be comedy gold.

That’s just probably down to the scar left in them, by the debacle (from their standpoint) of a match last season.

Obviously rubbish, but, just to play Devil’s advocate – where does that leave us if Taylor and Colo leaves and one Centreback comes in? hmmm.

To be fair, I guess if this lad could stay fit he would probably manage more games than Taylor and Colo put together next season, the way they are aging.

Joey Barton made this one up =)

I didn’t see anything special on video comp, and his stats is average in an average league. So not overly keen. I think he might be good signing for a Ligue 1 team though as first step.
