Steven Taylor is a local lad and was a ball boy during the great Kevin Keegan era, and che ame through the Newcastle Youth Academy, and he is one of the few players still at the club, who were part of the relegation side of four years ago.
Steven Taylor – at the final whistle yesterday
I hate to keep writing this – but it was our worst defeats since 1925, and that’s when my late father was two years old, and he hadn’t even watched Newcastle at that time – that’s how bad yesterday’s result was.
To say it was an absolute disgrace is being too kind.
This is what Steven Taylor said after the game, and he looked like death warmed up as he left the field after yesterdays’ disaster:
“It’s a sick feeling. At this moment in time, it feels like a family member has died, if I am being honest with you.” “In the dressing room, looking around everyone was devastated and realized the situation we are in.”
“We have got to accept what’s coming our way, and that’s going to be the criticism this weekend leading up to the West Ham game.” “We have just got to put that to bed and focus on ourselves.”
“Everybody is going to be criticising the team, the manager, everybody, but we have to stick together.” “We have heard those words a lot in the past six months, but that’s vital now.” ” The last three games are going to be like cup finals for us.”
“We have to apologise, first and foremost, to the fans, for everybody who came here and watched the lads, and hold our hands up because we know we let them down.”
“We are devastated with it, it wasn’t acceptable and we all hold our hands up. It wasn’t good enough.” “But we have to stick together and get on with it, and make sure next week we put this to bed and get the three points that we need. It’s vital.”
It’s a pity the lads didn’t stick together yesterday against Liverpool, when we gave an excellent imitation of waving the white flag after Liverpool’s third goal went in – it was simply shameful and it’s hard for Newcastle fans to take.
And I’m not going to accept all these statements that will come out from our players this week – what will happen if we concede an early goal at Upton Park next Saturday – will our players simply wilt like they did yesterday?
That’s where guts, passion, pride and commitment will come out – if there is any left in our players.
And what happens if we get hammered 4-0 (excuse the pun) – will the players keep apologizing?
Pardew and the players have lost a lot of credibility in the last two home games, and it’s up to them if they want to repay the fans for two shameful results.
But talking about it will not do it, and I will not be the only Newcastle fan who is still fuming about what happened yesterday – it was a complete disgrace to Newcastle United.

Comment #54jail @36 i can understand that in some circumstances, however , in this instance, can lt do any more harm to the team than what pards has already inflicted on it. i doubt it. maybe it might be the kick it needs at this moment in time. we have 11 players , who i think dont want to play for their manager, pardew is blaming them for the last 2 games, if we sent out a chant aimed at pardew, then would it not pick the players up when they understand the abuse is aimed at him and not the players trying to play football under pardews rules.

Comment #55It will be Rafa if we stay up
If we dont it will be oblivion an yet another waste of time chancer who will say much but deliver little.
If we go down i cant see many player hanging around, and the crowd who stuck by the toon last time wont be so forgiving imo
Its total oblivion if nothing changes 🙁

It looks like the momentum of fresh faces has been nullified by a man so up his own arse that the players have lost sight of what they’re supposed to be doing, did Derek not announce that Pardew wouldn’t be getting sacked as Mikes not like that.

Comment #57Does anyone know the odds on us going down, versus the other two? Given that we are in freefall, are we favourites now? I can see us getting only one more point, so we’d better hope Sunderland beat Villa, but thats not going to happen. Pardew really is a bullshitter. Sadly, if we stay up, he’ll stay because of our great 5 yr plan and 8 yr contract.

It’s sad how right he is, but Pardew could turn Barca into a bunch of wondering, clueless fools.
There’s a damn good reason why he always ends up being sacked and why no one would go within a million miles of him

I’m not as against Ashley as you are, but do respect your view and see why you think what you do, just I see the same but interpret it differently, but more positive in Ashley’s favour for me.
But I have never believed the five year plan. Only once have I heard it mentioned by Ashley and that was early on when I heard there was a five year plan to be challenging for the title.
No there seems to be a new five year plan which seems to have no goals set, no plan to achieve them or anything.
It’s just fed to the fans to ask for patience really. It’s an excuse if we have a bad year for whatever reason that its a five year plan and to Wait til the end of the 5 years. No actual target or time frame when it started or will end.

Players accept Pardews first yet. Try to impress and play gritty football until his system settles in. Players give managers time normally.
Second year they get sick of it and stop playing which over his career is when his teams do badly and he gets the sack.

Comment #70I just hate how he is constantly pleeing with the fans to help. There aren’t many clubs that would be dumped out of Europe midweek with 52,000
Stuffed by our rivals at home 52,00 there
And then the worst defeat in 88 years with another full house. Short of pulling a shirt on ourselves what else can we do ?. I’m sure Pardew will start blaming his wife for our results before long FFS.

If you know that you are a talented, technical player, the last thing you want to do is be playing for an 80’s relic like Pardew!
We need a forward thinking manager who can see what he has at his disposal and utilise that. While what we have is a one dimensional manager who is trying to mold players into something their are not.
If this chancer stays with us into next season I don’t know how I can stand it

Comment #74That Benfica game seems to have been a well spring for the pent up emotion built up over a long arduous season.
Letting it all go seems to have left us utterly deflated, with little chance of rebuilding the immense desire and focus needed to recover the position we’ve fallen into as a result.
I think it’s entirely probable that we are now in reality relying almost solely on other teams to save us. Teams that all have more fight in them than us.
Nightmare scenario.

Look no further than Marveaux . I and many others were calling for him to start not just over Gutierrez but Obertan as well. Sylvain oozes class and everyone can see it exept Pardew. Doesn’t he also have the most assists despite being injured and hardly started ? . Also Anita (product of the Ajax academy), Dutch international can’t get a look in for James Perch. Not that Perch is awful but Vurnon plays football on another level.
