Aston Villa Hammer Sunderland 6-1 – Overtake Newcastle

Another poor result for Newcastle tonight at Villa Park, as a resurgent Aston Villa beat Sunderland 6-1, and are now level on points with Newcastle and Sunderland, but go ahead of Newcastle on goal difference. So that puts us in 17th place – 4th bottom.

andy weimannceleb20130429_576x324

Newcastle target Andy Weimann scoring Villa’s second goal.

The score was only 2-1 at half time, but then Christian Benteke got a second half hat-trick, and to make things even worse for Sunderland, Stephane Sessegnon, arguably their best player, was sent off with a straight red card in the second half.

He will now miss the rest of the season.

And Villa’s goal difference is now -22, which is one better than Newcastle and in the last game, Aston Villa gained 11 goals on Newcastle as far as goal difference goes – we went -6 and Villa went +5 – unbelievable.

But it shows the gods may not be with us in the last three games of the season, especially if our players put in one more performance like against Sunderland and Liverpool – two of the worst home performances in Newcastle’s long history.

It doesn’t look good – and we’ll just have to hope that Wigan don’t come alive – but we may have to live or die on what we can do in the final three games of the season.

If we mess it up, we may even deserve to be relegated. 🙁

Latest rumour is that Pardew has been told that he will be sacked at the end of the season, with Benitez already lined up and interested, to take over.

    Ameobi,
It’s funny that because the idea was rubbished by John Anderson earlier on total sport so it’s just depending on who you believe.

I owe nothing to anyone, and such talk is slanderous or libellous or whatever. If I receive any more insults I will simply walk away from this job, and that will leave you all in deep doo-dah…

Oh, hello Derek, didn’t see you there. Just my wee joke, yeah, I’ve got this week’s payment here in my back pocket…. Is that us square now? Err, no…?

I wonder if we go down and have lined up Rafa whether he would take it – he has enough nous to go for a Cup run and bounce us back whilst building a strong team. I don’t care if he cost a small fortune he’s got to be better than AP

I think we might lose all 3 games. If Villa get something out of the Norwich game I think we’ll go down.

Can’t see Villa getting anything against Chelsea and Wigan. Who knows, Wigan might beat Arsenal away.

no owner of a club will tell the manager he is sacked at the end of season. If a owner sacks his manager it will be with immediate effect. so the rumor is what it is – a rumor , nothing more.

The best thing for us would be a total collapse by the scum into their form before PDC – we can only wait and see but it is looking very very grim now for us.

I don’t know what to make of this. No point talking about Benitez when we look doomed to relegation. Why would Pardew be told that? It would make sense to tell him he’s got 3 games to save his job.

I sense it being a long long time before we are back near the top again if we do go down. No easy route up now. It’s horrible, utterly horrible. I hated that year down there, as much fun as it was at times.

    Feel sorry for Anita
Came from a top club and just gets left to little sub appearances in a rubbish team
How on earth is Jonas and Tiote the way they’ve been playing getting on the team before him?
He is small in stature but they knew that when we bought him,he can pass a ball well which Jonas certainly cannot do for the life of him

Well there’s the first of my predictions correct, that I made on the BBC site (although I did only go for 2-1), which ultimately left us relegated, a point behind each of Aston Villa and Wigan, having us gaining just a poxy point at QPR.

North-East football is really thriving at the minute.

I cannot believe it’s come to this, i really can’t. I’m actually looking forward to welcoming Simpson and Williamson back to the line up against West Ham, get some fight and grit back into the side. I’d even start Tiote for his fire alongside Jonas in mid.

If Wigan stay up & we get relegated, Pardew is a gonna. MA will be so furious & pxxxxd off that his big enemy Dave Whelan has led his low-cost Wigan team to the FA cup final, and moreover, retained their EPL status at the expense of his own relatively expensive team of international stars, that he will undoubtedly sack Pardew. There will be no place for Pardew to hide.

Have to disagree – I think Villa are strong favourites to beat Wigan now who do have to cope with the side issue of the FA Cup Final slap bang in the middle of a survival thrash. If Wigan win the FA Cup, they’ll be on a roll and we will go down. At present it looks like us Scum and Wigan as Villa’s tails will be up

So it’s all down to goal difference with both club playing arsenal

If we go lee Clark for manager if we stay up happy with the fat waiter
His sides don get hammered and he is tactically sound if a little defensive

I’m over defending Pardew as I did earlier in the season, I think you all know that imo he was shafted by Ashley and his well defended by some ridiculous policies, the rot set in when it was made apparent that mid table was the goal this year, I did think we’d pulled it round and were a bit unlucky in some of the games after the new arrivals, this misfortune and lost points sent Pardew over the edge and made a guy with already suspect tactics completely lose the plot.
