Another poor result for Newcastle tonight at Villa Park, as a resurgent Aston Villa beat Sunderland 6-1, and are now level on points with Newcastle and Sunderland, but go ahead of Newcastle on goal difference. So that puts us in 17th place – 4th bottom.
Newcastle target Andy Weimann scoring Villa’s second goal.
The score was only 2-1 at half time, but then Christian Benteke got a second half hat-trick, and to make things even worse for Sunderland, Stephane Sessegnon, arguably their best player, was sent off with a straight red card in the second half.
He will now miss the rest of the season.
And Villa’s goal difference is now -22, which is one better than Newcastle and in the last game, Aston Villa gained 11 goals on Newcastle as far as goal difference goes – we went -6 and Villa went +5 – unbelievable.
But it shows the gods may not be with us in the last three games of the season, especially if our players put in one more performance like against Sunderland and Liverpool – two of the worst home performances in Newcastle’s long history.
It doesn’t look good – and we’ll just have to hope that Wigan don’t come alive – but we may have to live or die on what we can do in the final three games of the season.
If we mess it up, we may even deserve to be relegated. 🙁

Comment #41Because everyone is very afraid of the history to repeat itself.
Therefore Pardew should not be sack at this present moment.
Apart from MA late signings, pardew just can’t play/ sub the right players at the right moment.
I would want us to play defensive and counter attacking to see us through these last few matches.
The game that we “used to play” last season. “Stay back and defend Hatem! only counter when we can”

Given our defence over the last ten years a ‘bit defensive’ is just what we need.

Comment #43We will then sign Benteke and Remy in the summer. Benteke, Anita and Phillipe Albert will persuade Toby Alderweireld to join us. Douglas, Belhanda and Weinmann will follow adnd we’ll end up in a champions league spot next season.

Comment #44Act Five, Scene Four. St James’s Park, Newcastle. Newcastle United need to take three points from Champion’s League-chasing Arsenal to avoid relegation.
CARVER …”BOSS!!!!!! It’s five-nil……at half time…
PARDEW…”Who to John?”
CARVER. “The LONDONERS boss.”
PARDEW…”Phew! Thank God! London clubs shouldn’t get beat by Noocarsle at home.
CARVER…” But we ARE Newcastle boss. And we ARE at home.”
PARDEW…Sorry squire, I wasn’t paying attention. BTW, can you just take these jotter notes I’ve been making up to Peter. You’ll see the last two are on the All-Weather at Lingfield after four thirty. Even Pedro could get down to the Ladbrokes on Percy Street by then, surely?”
CARVER…”Man. I told you boss, download the app! There’s a ten quid free bet y’know.”
Exuant stage right, then returns.
PARDEW ” You are right. We are losing. I’ve checked. John, who do I take off?…
CARVER…(without breathing) “Ben Arfa boss….these Fancy Dan Froggies can’t pick a pass even when they are surrounded by five players.”
PARDEW…”Fair point John. But who do I put on?”
CARVER…”Perch boss. He’s fantastic.”
PARDEW…. “I KNOW that! That’s why I gave him a start instead of Anita Harris, or whatever she’s called.”
CARVER…”Sorry boss. They all look the same to me. What about Obertan boss?”
PARDEW….”Is he here? But wait! Isn’t he one of those Fancy Dan Froggy too?”
CARVER…”Yes boss, but he’s YOUR Fancy Dan Froggy!
PARDEW…”Gabby, go and show them what I saw in you my son.”
SMARMY SKY COMMENTATOR. “And helpless play on the Newcastle right means it’s six nil to Arsenal. And I think I’ve just come!
PARDEW..”Did I pick Gosling?
CARVER…”Course ya did, Boss! And that Cisse’s looking tired….!”

Comment #45This ad thing is a shambles first of all!
Secondly – Stuartno9: Freddie Shepherd Told Sir Bobby Robson that it was his last season in 2004-05, so I guess he kind of told him he was giving him the boot.
And finally, I think this result tonight will actually have some Sunderland supporters not all that miffed, they realise that Newcastle are terrible at the moment and their goal difference is significantly better.
Can we beat West Ham? Not on recent form – I think Carroll will get 2 in a 3-1 Hammers win.
Then QPR – A drab 0-0
Arsenal at home – another 2 goal loss I’m afraid.
That’s 38 points and GD of -27.
Wigan by my estimate will probably get 7 more points, if so that gives them 39.
Villa have a couple of winnable games, I expect them to get at least 40 points… Sunderland likewise, unless this completely knocks them for 6 (no pun intended) and Sessegnon’s absence means they peter out on 37 points. I think they’ll get 40 though.
That leaves Norwich – can they lose all three remaining games? Their GD is as shocking as ours.
The big worry is that some of those players didn’t seem too fussed on Saturday, how do you raise them now for these tricky matches? That Sunderland result might effectively be the one that sees us down, surely there’s somebody behind closed doors who can rally the troops – Coloccini in his final act for the club gives a speech on a par with Al Pacino’s in Any Given Sunday and inspires the side to their greatest performance of the season, a 1-0 win vs QPR (Hoillet OG) to reach that mythical 40 points with half of the French national side and numerous other ‘top class’ players around the place.
I’m rambling on now, just one more thing I’d like to add.
If we do stay up, then I think it’s time to get a few more British players in, or at least those that understand the league.
I would LOVE to see Andy Carroll re-join Newcastle, even for £15m and also to see Nathan Redmond on board. Carroll would give us an option we sorely need, Redmond is a proper winger.

You couldn’t write it, how all the clubs left involved we’ve got rancour with if some sort:
Mackems
Villa – many still haven’t forgiven their carry in when we went down.
Wigan – Whelan/MA are foes and the travesty that occurred against them.
Funny how these things turn out.

Comment #49Thing is with our French players they are used to sort of playing in a defensive team but its more a technical nature
We just try and park the bus and hope for the best when was the last time we scored a brilliant counter attacking goal ??
I would love someone of Benitez quality to come here it would be the first time since Sir Bobby that we would have actually employed a proper manager

Comment #504th bottom – hard games ahead , now is the time to sack pards. he will never pick those players up enough to have a real go against west ham. we need someone in to make them feel 10ft tall , not scared and beaten before they arrive at the ground.
As i said before ,a new manager with a few simple words to make them feel winners before they leave the dressing room is all it will take- pards cant do that, he must go!

“I cannot believe it’s come to this”
Probably shouldnt have put all your faith in a serial loser like Pardwho Tommyy ? This man will take any club down within two years 🙁
The pain of relegation will only be eased by Fatman realising he cannot leave numbnuts in charge of what is a very large and potentially profitable business. Llambias and Pardwho out, Kenyon or similar and Laurent Blanc or Benitez in. We need people who know about football not casinos !

Comment #68i dont think tonights result was actually that bad, as now atleast sunderland are essentially back in it with us and villa, all 3 of us on 37, i can really see us getting atleast a point at upton park on saturday, i atleast hope so as im going to be there, id actually like to see ameobi played with cisse, tiote and cabaye centre of the park, guti one side, hatem the other, and then simpson, colo, taylor/willo, m’biwa, and just for us to go back to bog standard 4-4-2, and literally play shit football and get something out of the game, after all thats more or less how we beat utd 3-0 and more or less the same team, i have to say i have backed pardew, but i am more or less at my wits end with the guy, he just doesnt have the tactical nouse to play the style to suit the players, i think we will look completely stupid if we sack him as it will go against the whole stability thing that his 8 year contract represented, but i do think a change of manager in the summer is so needed, and therefore a change in the whole backroom staff at the club the have failed us so badly this year, i do tihnk we will stay up though, i think were going to get another fairly solid 1-1 or maybe even a lucky 1-0 2-1 at west ham and i am really hoping that we will beat qpr and that will be us safe, believe lads… and beleive it or not lads, despite our dreadful away form, i actually think 2 away games might do the lads some favours, as the pressure at st james’s must have been getting a bit much for them, especially the newbies, if they can put some pressure on the home teams as we know they can maybe the can use the opposite pressure to there advantage, honestly think we’ll get 4 points out of these 2 games and then arsenal will be a bonus, then we’ll just see what happens with pardew in the summer….
also dont forget boys, wigan have too play 3 games in 7 days, one against swansea at home on the tuesday, one small matter of a cup final against man city in london on the saturday, and then they have the play arsenal at the emirates on the tuesday after! and they have about 5 or 6 players out injured… all hope is not lost yet boys! 😉

Unfortunately, I believe our recent form will have galvanised all the other teams around us and given them belief that there is a team down there who are so shambolic that they can indeed survive.
I look at the managers of the teams involved and without a doubt Pardew is the weakest link! He is only still in a job by default – there is no other obvious short-term candidate available, bar De Mateo!

Comment #79Its between us and Wigan. How sad is that????? Only the Toon could go fom 5th to relegation in 10 months. Anything is possible with this club except success. We will never win nowt. The Vikings roamed the land the last time we won the league. Big support (which is taken for granted) but we are there to make up the numbers. A bit more than a wee club in the north east. When you cannot win nowt, derbies are our cup final. Shame on the club for the scum game. The bindipper games was the worst performance in 50 years of viewing. Two successive home disasters and Pardew’s (after a season of crap hoofball) position is untenable. But who gave him the 8 year contract? Chelsea fans dare not boo the Russian because he is a sugar daddy but we put up with a robber. Pathetic.

sunderland are right back in the mix, their most important players missing and being trounced 6-1 by Villa will crush them just as Liverpool did to us
