This Is Why Newcastle’s Situation Is Grim

Everything seemed so good after the second leg of the Europa League against Benfica, when we just failed to make the semi-finals of the Europa League, but three games on and we are fighting for our Premier League survival.

daniel agger first goal

Daniel Agger scored first goal in 3 minutes

After the second Benfica game we had six games left, 36 points and a goal difference of -14, which was a lot better than the bottom four teams of the league, so if we were in a points tie – then we’d still finish above them.

But then we were hammered 3-0 by Sunderland at home, we got a point at West Brom and then we were trounced by Liverpool 6-0 at home on Saturday, and suddenly we have only 37 points with three games to go, and we look to be in big trouble, and this is only our third season back.

And our goal difference is now -23 – the same as Wigan and only slightly better than Aston Villa.

And those two terrible defeats  were at home, and we have only won one game on the road all season, in what is turning our to be our second worst season ever in the Premier League, and at the moment it’s a toss-up whether we’ll be relegated.

Our best chance is that Wigan keep losing or drawing – any Wigan wins in their last four league games could put us down for the second time in four years – and what would happen then at Newcastle we have no idea.

It’s not in the plan that we get relegated after finishing 5th last season.

Worse than that is our five new French players have not acclimatized to the league, and they are now suffering from culture shock, as Newcastle fans are furious with the players and the manager – and anyone else associated with the club for that matter.

I would like to write that it’s now up to the lads to save our Premier League place in the last three games, but the Sunderland and Liverpool games were so bad, we haven’t much hope that these players have the fight to stay up.

The situation at Newcastle is grim, and we are dependent on other teams – specifically Aston Villa and Wigan – not to do well in their final few games.

That’s not a good position to be in.

While you may not agree with what Check says, he isn’t exactly panicking. He has been advocating change for months now.

Yes, support them during the games. No harm voicing discontent on this forum, or after we have already capitulated during a game. Were we going to turn it round? No, so where is the harm showing your discontent. I have never left a game early, and will always support them, but it is each fans own choice. I think Pardew has received a surprising lack of vocal protests given our demise and his inability to halt it. Many previous managers have received a lot more for a lot less.

Agreed about the fans being kind to Pardew.

I expected the whole stadium to be singing “You don’t know what your doing”. All I heard on the stream we’re moans and groans.

The reason I never gave Mashley credit for hiring Pards and then seeing him finished fifth was the fact that it was hardly an inspired decision resulting from Pards impeccable CV it was from the same school of thought that had Dennis Wise appointed to see over two times European footballer KK,and it is now undeniable that Pards was brought in as a yeas man,and a possible two relegations the worst goal difference the worst run the heaviest defeat the least away wins, shows there is something inheritley wrong with the way Mike Ashley does business.

    Morning gents.

I have totally lost all respect for Pardew now. The Liverpool game completely changed my opinion. I no longer believe he is the right manager for this club, and if we keep him, it seems like having stability just for the sake of stability. If he is not the right man then stability is just as bad.

Although the players were truly awful against Liverpool, Pardew did not send out a team to win. At home against a Liverpool side that really aren’t that good, is criminal.

I can’t see anything other than a defeat at west ham, and against arsenal, so we need points of QPR, or just pray that other teams don’t pick up points.

*IF* we stay up, I would like to see Pardew leave, and a manager brought in that can get us playing to our strengths again. Attacking football is Newcastle United.

There are obviously rumours of Rafa Benitez, and in my opinion it would not be a bad idea. A proven premier league manager, looking for a job in the summer.

There are other options aswell, most notably Bayern Munichs Juup Heynckyss (We can dream), and a couple of French managers such as Rene Girard of Montpellier.

I honestly believe that Pardews time has come now at this club, and whilst I do not blame him for everything this season as some do, the buck has to stop with the manager this season.

Ok, Ed we get it! Its grim, now its time for everyone to roll there sleeves up, That includes you. We need to get a positive response at West Ham, We did against WBA for 1 half so we know its possible.

Its a disasterous result, shout it out loud! Now let it go and move on. What happens to Pardew? We will see, but not untill the summer.

Wow…what a weekend! Disgusted by the attitude and effort of some of our players.

Find ourselves in the position of looking at other results and even hoping for a makem win tonight!!!

    Not a good feeling…

Do any of you think Pardew would ease a player like say Di Maria into the side and only play him a full 90 minutes when he was sure that he put in a defensive shift?

I know what I think and thets the reason Pardew is no longer the way forward for me.

Conaldo… Welcome on board the HMS neggars, we’ve needed a new wizard for a while now 🙂

Liverpool was grim, if sunderland didn’t completely turn opinion then liverpool has. Luckily i think we’ll stay up on the basis that amazingly theres 3 worse teams than us this season.

New managers is a whole different kettle of fish. Jupp would be amazing and he wants to manage in the PL. I’d urge ashley to be bold and stretch out an offer to him.

    My team for West Ham:

    Elliot
    Simpson Taylor Colo Perch
    Cabaye Sissoko Anita
    Ben Arfa Cisse Gouffran

We can’t win against them playing long ball.
Our only hope is to have a defensive wall at the back, tell the full backs not to come forward, and then play football from out infront of them.

If we play this team, I will be confident of a draw. Sadly, anything else and I think we will lose.

Rotunda – re not having Barton and Nolan last season…

You need fist shakers and leaders when you are doing badly, its easy keeping your chin up when things are going well as they were last season.

I criticised Barton for his nonsense and thought Cabaye and Tiote were a good replacement for him and Nolan. However, we haven’t replaced the leadership in the team and it was there for all to see in the Sunderland and Lpool games. With so many french players we need at least of them to be our fistshaker but it looks like none of them are that type of character. If we get relegated a huge part of that will be down to lack of leadership and fight in these last three games.

And yes, that is a fault of the management for not recognising and addressing that issue.

I would like to see Sissoko in front of the defence, He can be stronger in duels and in the air than Tiote, Anita, and Cabaye. Pluss he has a good aceleration and can move the team forward quick. Playing Cabaye low so he can spread his long passes isnt working as intended. I think Pardew thinks of Cabaye as aPaul Scholes player spreading the passes controlling play from deep. But we need to move bodys forward and Sissoko does not have that killer pass, apart from the through ball to Cisse against AV.
