We Need Experience, Passion – Here’s Saturday’s Team

We think that Alan Pardew will have been dismayed at the way a lot of our new players  gave up in the second half on Saturday, and simply were not up for the game against Liverpool.

fabricio coloccini in action

Fabricio Coloccini – must start Saturday

And with Coloccini and Ben Arfa both fit, we’ll have to start them at West Ham, and the least we want to see is a gutsy performance from the team, although we don’t expect to get anything at all out of the game.

And with Steve Harper available and close to 200 games in the Premier League, he should be brought back in goal for the inexperienced Rob Elliot.

Mathieu Debuchy is suspended for the game, but he was simply awful against Liverpool, and we should see Danny Simpson back in at right back.

And Moussa Sissoko should be given a rest, as we’re getting tired of seeing him get the ball, and simply run with it until he loses the ball,

So maybe this is a side we could start at West Ham on Saturday:

Harper
Simpson Coloccini (c) Taylor (S) Yanga-Mbiwa
Ben Arfa Cabaye Perch (Anita) Gutierrez
Gouffran Cisse

We show Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa in for the inexperienced Massadio Haidara at left back.

Any player not willing to give his guts and fight for the side on Saturday, should be left at home and not even travel to London.

We still don’t expect to get anything out of the game.

The problem Ashley has now, is that having failed to see that Pardew was just making excuses, his whole business plan now goes out the window. If we get relegated ( likely ) , all his ideas of getting cheaper french young fellas in to fatten up and sell at a profit is is ruins. Because these guys will not get us out of the lower division. As for Di Matteo – no thanks….very defensive manager and not what we need in the medium term.

I thought your paint a picture style post on Saturday- (the sun was etc) was about the best you had posted. I didn’t agree with much of it but thats for another day. I don’t think we will be relegated but I am considering the possibility of life in the championship. You will recall me mentioning how highly I rate Ian Holloway and he would be the man to get us back up and it would be fun on the way. My whole immediate family, sister as well are going to the West Ham. I forecast 42 points some time ago and stick by it. I hate negativity which is why your sunlit post was quality.

I’d honestly consider the Willo/Colo partnership, they would hopefully play their natural games, not making rash decisions in the key area, feeling they have something unnecessary to redeem themselves – fresh minds – Willo was also our best defender against Benfica and has done well against Carroll in the past. We all know teacher’s pet Saylor won’t be dropped though, despite he and Mbiwa been in different libraries, never mind on the same page.

    I’d go with this:

    _______________Harper_______________
    Simpson____Willo_____Colo____Anita
    __________Cabaye_____Sissoko
    ___HBA_______Marveaux_______Gouffran
    _______________Cisse

I realise I’m asking for flak with that line-up, but I honestly think it’s the best course of action.

Chris Waddle used to chaperone Gazza around the pubs and clubs in Newcastle when they played together at the Toon in the early 80?s.

Gazza used to give it a real nudge even then and Waddle also fancied a drink.

After one particularly huge bender and early morning Sunday fry up at a Quayside caf, Waddle was pulled over for drink driving on their way home.

Gazza quickly nipped over the into the back seat and as the policeman, a huge Toon fan, was giving Waddle a stern warning, dropped his tweeds and cheekily mooned the copper out of the back window.

The constable, unfazed, duly finished his warning to Waddle before he turned to face this bare arse and began a second tongue lashing with, ” and as for you Beardsley………..”

You can’t have someone looking and talking like that Managing the club in this day and age, brilliant player or not.

    Won’t happen!

Cisse needs support, he’s not getting that in the current formation. Don’t kid yourself, its not a 4-2-3-1 it’s a 4-5-1. We have to go back to 4-4-2 and play Goufran alongside Cisse to work those channels.

We need Taylor at CB to combat the aerial threat of Carroll. Mbiwa and Colo are just too short. It makes sense to bring Colo back alongside Taylor as they have a lot of experience alongside each other and compliment each other well. This means Mbiwa can go left back and cover against the defensive inadequacies of Ben Arfa.

Ben Arfa playing on the left, he’s left footed and this should encourage him to get a few more crosses in for our front 2. Anita on the right simply because he can pass and cross a ball. Sissoko and Cabaye have to play in the middle. Tiredness is no excuse, they have a weeks rest/training and we need Sissoko’s aerial/physical strength in the middle, particularly taking Cabaye’s small frame into consideration.

Lastly, Harper has to go in net. Elliot was at fault for 2 of Liverpools goals.

    ——————-Harper——————-
    Simpson—-Taylor—Colo——-Mbiwa
    Anita—-Cabaye—-Sissoko—Ben Arfa
    ———-Cisse———-Goufran———-

Why did we play Jonas FFS, why did we play Sissoko on the right, Why did Perch get dragged off & shiote get kept on! I was so bewilderd with the team selection before we kicked a ball! Why was Goofy & Benni on the bench in a must win game???? FFS AAAArrrrggghhhhhhhh! How can we all see it & Pards cant especially with Jonas! Benni has been saying all week he was 100% fit then he starts on the bench in a must win game! Pappis can not play up front on his own he’s not like Demba who can hold off the defender & play people in, Papiss plays on the shoulder of defenders & needs a lot more support!!

I’ve been an ok supporter of Pardew but his selection on Sat was shocking & he & the team deserved everything they got in front of us 52,000 people! Not beein funny but the sunday league side i play for is full of NUFC fans & i know we would have gave a 1000% more than they did on Sat awfull! Sat is another game tho & who bloody knows eh??? HWTL!

    I think we will…

1 Stay up on 37 points
    2 wigan to drop.
3 Blanc will be in this summer
    4 Pards will move upstairs

Can’t see us getting another point but villa and wigan still have hard games and have to play each other.

Ash is not stupid and will realise Blanc would be the right manager for the team.

“I have no problem getting the flak, I accept that,” said Pardew. “That performance was not one of my teams. My teams are renowned for being organised and being on the front foot and you could not say that about my team against Liverpool. I will take responsibility for that.

i have to say im very dissapointed in most of you ,

you have all decided to jump off the pardew express now its crashed,,

the fact that its been heading into a brick wall all season didnt accure to you,

pardew has been playing a merry tune for you to sing and dance too, well i hope your all proud, our team is on the verge of slipping out the prem, and if that happens, we wont have that good core of solid fighters to get us back up

pardew set a new record before jan had ended with the longest run without a win, and you all believed it was for 2 main things, injuries and the summer spending, when the main fact was / is he carnt motivate

how many think he is a great man manager now ?

its been said so many time to me “be careful what you wish for” this is what you wished for,,

been led a merry dance by the pide piper,, and you laughed and danced all the way for him

Harper is still the Better Keeper all these years. Pardew buy is shit or just now suitable to play at this level at this club.

Please Select Harper for this Job, he is more experience, yes you may say he is old and slow. But he knows, lots of things what a GK should do to help the team at the right moment. That can only gain through experience at this level.

This is not the time to test new keepers. Ever Real Madrid Iker Casillas is beach when the manager feels not right. Pardew u got to do that.

    Pardew’s quote from today:

“We could not get a grip, though, and we lacked threat down the flanks.”

Does he actually think that with Jonas on the one side and with the DEFENCIVE MIDFIELDER on the other we will be any kind of threat on the flanks? What a moron!

catchy – i see where your thoughts come from, yes the football has been pretty tacticless [is that a word?] and boring etc etc but he was never going to be sacked so early in the season and so soon after the ‘8 yr contract’ and so imo you just have to get behind the team as best as possible, because nothing we say would influence MA. he’s his own man but just my opinion of cause mate

I’m actually glad Simpson’s going be playing. He’s always shown fight and commitment to this club and is actually a good defender, its just a shame his crossing is awful otherwise he would be a great full back. I don’t think my eyes have ever witnessed a worse full back display from the blogs so called ‘hero’ Debuchy. Lacking in the defence department and his crossing isn’t great either!

He always gets found out. He had Tevez and Mascherano and wouldn’t play them.

As well documented there were a lot of extenuating circumstances for last year and as a West ham fan pointed out it goes to his head, starts drinking his own bathwater and the rest is history!

2 record losing streaks at 2 different clubs and taking Charlton from the PL to the bottom 3 of the championship takes some doing.

None of the other bottom clubs had nearly 20M worth of 5 new players in January with half a season left to play.

We’ve had all the excuses. Maybe the pitch is the wrong shade of green for him. Who knows? Ultimately you could give him Barcelona and he’d f..k it up. Maybe not straightaway but it wouldn’t take long. Imagine the look on Mascherano’s face if he turned up there!

I’d love nothing more for Pards to steer us to safety with a win at West Ham and then go on to save his job and take us into the top 6 next season.

But yeah, wishful thinking to put it mildly. So I’ll settle for being dragged over the line on the bones of our arse and the time then taken to find the right man after a thorough inquisition at season’s end.
