It’s Good News Bad News For Newcastle

It’s good news bad news from Alan Pardew at his press conference today – and the bad news is that Newcastle have sustained yet another injury in training – this time to Massadio Haidara – what goes on in the Newcastle training?

Fab Coloccini - training

Fab Coloccini – in training this week – he’s back!

Massadio has sustained what seems a common a common injury at Newcastle – a hamstring strain – and he will now miss the vital game with West Ham at Upton Park on Saturday.

But the good news – very good news – is that captain Fabricio Coloccini will be back to captain the side.

Coloccini has trained  for over a week now, and it seems his back injury is no longer bothering him, and maybe he can bring some much needed stability to the defense, which has looked hopeless since we were eliminated from the Europa League by Benfica.

Alan Pardew had this to say about his captain:

“Colo is fit and well”

That’s  great news on Coloccini,  and we’ll need him over the last three games of the season if we are to survive relegation.

We’ll bring you more of the press conference soon.

Comments very welcome.

    Pardew’s Press Conference…

We’re pulling together, trying to get a result, and the fact that we have a lot of French players and some language difficulty has been kind of torn up and made to be something else.
“There’s no problem and we go to the next game.
“If you think, because the players are from a foreign countries or some of our players are not bothered, it’s just ridiculous. Of course they’re bothered. Our frustrations and our professionalism are on the line but we have the destiny of ourselves in our own hands.
“No-one else – we’re not in the hands of anyone else. Only us can put it right. We’ve got a little gap so we need to exploit that and make sure we extend it.
“I haven’t even looked at the run-ins of the other clubs because it’s very, very important that you focus on yourself. The destiny’s very much in our own hands and we need to make sure that we get the wins that we need – if it’s two wins, if it’s three wins, I have no idea.
“Some of the wildfire that we’ve had has just been way, way off the mark. But we put a poor performance in on Saturday and we need to put that right. That’s the most important thing.”

    One Word… Balls.

I like your team, bit untested for the toon in the full back positions but perhaps they are the best alternatives.

Consider Simmo right back and Anita in for Tiote, or on the bench ready to come on if the midfield is doing poorly.

carrying, yeah, i could be wrong, but i get the feeling that simpson may be uninterested and not fight, which could be lethal against jarvis and anita would try and fight for a place.

“Some of the wildfire that we’ve had has just been way, way off the mark.”

Alan, we’ve conceded 9 goals in two games at home and played disgustingly. Wide of the mark you say? Are you just that used to being down there struggling and fighting against relegation throughout your career that only a little criticism should be allowed?

It’s not good enough, and you will take what you get from the fans who have to pay good money to watch it each week.

    Appalling.

Anita at RB? No thanks. Would rather have Simpson there.

I’d imagine Tiote will start – exactly what good he’ll do I don’t know, but Cabaye and Sissoko have been no better recently anyway.

The injuries that we have sustained this season are simply sickening, especially when most of them have been muscle pull’s or strains picked up in training. There is something endemically wrong with the players fitness levels and conditioning for it to be as bad as it is and thats why we need to completely change how we operate.

Sacking Pardew has to be only the first step in a coaching shake up. We only have two 1st team coaches in Carver and Stone, Andy Woodman as goalkeeping coach and Simon Tweddle as our sole fitness coach, where the likes of Borussia Dortmun have Klopp as manager, two assistant coaches, two fitness coaches and an athletics coach and a goalkeeping coach plus a medical staff that far out weights what we have.

It isn’t down to poor luck that we’ve had so many players missing this season, it’s down to the fact that we are being run on a bare minimum and thats something that seriously needs to change

Simpson has actually played very well the last few games that he played did i just say that??

He has never just packed it in during a game for us either always gives 100% even if he is not the best technically plus I think he can deal with Jarvis not sure Debuchy would at this time of asking needs a little more time to get used to premier league

Plus Simpson has a new contract to play for either with us or someone else so he has to play well to impress because it does not look like there has been a queue of clubs trying to get him

    Luke Edwards on 5 Live:

    * Some players moaning about tactics to Pardew

    * Back-biting from players

    * Was contacted from his contact within the club about the goings on.

    * Says he has notes and short-hand writings from convo with contact.

    * Clubs generally lean on local journalists to promote positives from the club.

Just a few points from him talking on radio.

Well that didn’t really reveal much.

Claims info came from employees, including playing staff.

Mainly he discussed how he thinks it’s bizarre that he’s been banned, not really about the actual problems.

Oh and he did it to help the club, by giving the information he’s giving them an opportunity to sort it out.

Still not sold either way tbh. Struggle to portray a journalist as an innocent victim.

Having said all of that, the club could have handled this better.

It’s just another case of the heavy handed way that the club deal with people. By banning him they have caused bigger problems and this will not go away now

Well I am glad that there is players arguing over Pardew’s tactics and methods cause they have been shite all season !!

Wish the players had voiced their concerns a long time ago as we would probably be safe by now and in the semi final of the Europa league!!!

No way to Jonas left back, did you not see him against Man City?!!! Mbiwa has to go left back with Simmo right back, that way we’re not getting caught out with them playing as wingers. It might not be a bad thing with Simpson returning, he’s better defensively than Debuchy and is particularly strong in the air.

Also, we need Sissoko in his propper DM role as we need height and power to combat Nolan’s aerial threat. Taylor to combat Carroll and obviously he knows how his game as well, and Colo to be calm and collected in possession.

4-4-2 for me as Cisse needs a partner to work the channels and link midfield with attack, I’m torn between strolla and Goufran for this role, problem is Goufran will work the channels but Strolla will hold it up better.

I feel this is a game we’re not going to dominate in the air, so we have to get it down and play. Dominate possession and keep the ball (never going to happen though is it?). The midfield is key for this, Cabaye and Sissoko in the middle, Anita on the right and Ben Arfa on the left. They can both deliver an early good ball into the box on their favored foot, without having to cut inside. Anita obviously will provide a bit of extra defensive cover, and Ben Arfa will be playing in front of the more defensive minded Mbiwa (who is pretty quick). So that’s how I would set up, plenty of experience, technical quality and pace in the right areas.

    ————————Elliott————————-
    Simpson——Taylor—–Colocini——Mbiwa
    Anita———Cabaye—-Sissoko——Ben arfa
    ———–Cisse————-Goufran————–

Might as well as put Shola there.

Anita or Perch for me as both have played there previously including Anita for half a season at Ajax.

Jesper…I’m not convinced either way tbh. I’m sure the club don’t want negative reports out there and I’m also sure that a reporter will make things seem worse for a good story.

A few phrases in the article make me feel it’s a bit of a cop out

“Newcastle United’s dressing room is in danger of a damaging split”

“The tension is believed to be down to the fact some individuals have been more interested in complaining about tactics and worrying about their own personal agendas rather than helping the club to survive in the Premier League.”

I’m sure there have been words had and complaints made, but how bad is it? I suppose we’ll know more on Saturday.

Beattie25, Why shouldn’t Mbiwa be played at left back?

He plays on the left side of CD and he’s actually got a strong left foot which makes him better equipped for that role than either Perch or Anita, both of which are right footed.

Perch never looks particularly good in a full back role and tends to be quite rash and jumps in. Anita … well… he’s about 2 foot and we need as much height as possible in defense.
