After the 0-0 draw today at Upton Park today when our lads played very well, Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew says that a win at QPR next Sunday could secure our place in the Premier League for next season.
Newcastle players applaud their great fans after the game today
But we now wonder if 41 points will be enough this season, with teams like Wigan and Aston Villa starting to win games.
In truth our PL survival doesn’t look too good right now, after Wigan beat West Brom 3-2 today, and they could go above Newcastle after playing their game in hand on Tuesday night at home to Swansea – if they can win.
Here’s what the Newcastle manager said after the game today:
“I think if we win at QPR it’ll be enough.” “It’s a huge game, and it’ll be a tough one, but we’ve got to go there and try to win.”
“Obviously they’ve already been relegated but it won’t stop their enthusiasm to try and beat us and finish strong.”
“A lot of other teams have been brought into the fold for relegation, Sunderland, Norwich and Southampton, they’ll all be a little bit nervous I should think.”
“But we can do is worry about ourselves, try to win at QPR and see where that leaves us for the Arsenal game.”
If we do win at QPR next week and other results go in our favor, there is a possibility we could be safe before the last game of the season against Arsenal – and that would be a huge relief for Newcastle fans everywhere.
The lads must go all out at QPR and try to get goals and the win, but QPR don’t give too many goals away – and today Arsenal won only 1-0 at QPR – with a goal in the first minute from Theo Walcott.
It’s going to be a big big game for our lads next Sunday afternoon.
