Sunderland got a valuable point tonight after going one goal down to Stoke City after only nine minutes, and then having Craig Gardner sent off with a straight red card after 34 minutes.
Jonathan Walters opens the scoring after 9 minutes
But Sunderland came back in the second half against the odds, and looked a much better side, even with only 10 men, and a goal by John O’Shea after 63 minutes equalized the scores and they looked the more likely team to win the game after that.
Craig Gardner lunged in with two feet on Charlie Adam, and there weren’t many complaints when he got a straight red card, and like Stephane Sessegnon, he will now miss the rest of the season, and it’s the second game running that Sunderland were reduced to 10 men.
The point takes Sunderland above Newcastle on the same points total – 38 – but they have a much better goal difference, and Newcastle are down to 4th bottom – the lowest we have been all season.
Given the circumstances of the game and their position at half time, this turned out to be a good point for the Black Cats.
Newcastle’s position could get worse tomorrow night, if Wigan beat Swansea at home, and the Latics would then go above Newcastle on goal difference and we’d be in a relegation place for the first time this season – 3rd bottom.
Results don’t seem to be going Newcastle’s way, and we’ll need to take some points out of the last two games of the season if we are survive the drop – which seems to get closer with each game played. 🙁

Comment #83i swear we need to change our clubs kit to Pink and black…just like Palermo. Its the sweet with the poor. Pink and Black. They also seem in trouble with some great players.
I am acually in denial this is happening to my Newcastle. last seasons tribulations to this years utter agony. I just cant believe this is even possible.
To me Pardew has shown he has no real tactical knowledge of the game whats worrying me is that Ash will cut of his nose to spite his face. He will let him run it just so he wont go back on his word. Insane…..His stubbornness to fire this man who is taking us down is just stupid.

Comment #93What worries me, is how Pardew actually gained a certificate in managing with absolutely no tactical knowledge?
Was the course easier back then or something? Serious question…

Comment #99pardews constant playing of players out of position, is just him saying “im the boss, i run things round here, im top boy, i can tell these players exactly where to play and they will do it and love it whilst they do it”
his stubborn big headedness ego inflated personality will be the death of this campaign officially

A few years ago I saw a young gangly black kid in Eldon square with a pretty young lass, he was on crutches and dressed in an NUFC tracksuit, I wondered then was he a young player, looking back it must have been Sammy Ameobi.

Comment #105Jail, tell me about it dude….Its down to us or Norwich boys, you can forget Wigan and the mack and tacks. If Norwich beat WBA , get ready for some visits to great clubs with great history – like Nottingham Forest! Yes mate, I’m miserable. I also cant unerdstand how many f**kwits there are on this site who think they are deeply intelligent by supporting Pardew. The same tools supported Ashleys non purchasing last summer….told us to wait till the summer transfer window closed ….when logical guys like me were screaming for investment. Then when Ashley BIZARRELY hands out a huge contract, they told me to respect continuity and stability. You couldnt make it up. Are these guys stooges for Ashkey llambias and their gambling friend who was out of a job, and walked into NUFC uncontested????

Comment #110catchy, i just assumed that as part of the football managerial course, they would teach football tactics. I mean crazy of me to think that i know, we all know being a manager in England just requires either a decent looking suit, or a tracksuit that you still have on from when you were 7.

Comment #111So Pardew always use excuse with “injuries” but the scum can take a point after 60 mins play with 10 men and without they 3 best players… 4 if we count Gardner. What a pathetic pu$$ we have in charge, eh…

Comment #112Truly awful news regarding Toby Edwards; 29 years old and he suffered a fatal cardiac arrest. I can’t believe that.
It seems like we both share a similar love for Ben Arfa,
and I also hope we sign Aubeyemang,
And obtain a new manager in the summer.
God bless your soul Toby.

Tactically, strategically, mathematically, logically and eurythmically, and I know now what needs to be done.
Yes God, it WAS me who got Fr Stanson’s hair-piece out of his desk and put it in with the guinea pig.
And you got me. I was never truly penitent, despite what I said. He had no right to make me hungry and miss my dinner.
But I solemnly promise to join the order of St Fatima of the Arsenal next Monday.
