Big News On Newcastle – There’s No News

The news yesterday on Newcastle was there was no news, after Wigan were defeated by Swansea 3-2 – which gives Newcastle some breathing room as far as relegation goes – but our lads still have to produce the goods in the last two games – which we have hardly done in the previous four games – getting only 2 points and scoring just one solitary goal – and conceding 10, and having two of our worst ever results at St. James’ Park. 🙁

Alan Pardew – press conference Thursday?

Newcastle fans are not happy that we have to depend on clubs like Wigan losing games for our club to avoid relegation – and it’s interesting that nobody from Newcastle made any statement at all about the Wigan result yesterday – even though it could be a relegation saver for Newcastle.

We expect Alan Pardew to give his news conference tomorrow for the QPR game – and there will enormous pressure on the team to perform well, and get a win, which could make us safe – and it will if Chelsea beat Aston Villa on Saturday.

We expect the Newcastle manager to say it’s up to his team to produce the goods now, and get us to safety.

If and when we are safe from relegation then the debate will start – it’s already started of course – about who is the right man to take Newcastle forward. Is it Alan Pardew or will Mike Ashley want to bring in another manager in the summer,

And we always thought David Moyes would be the perfect man to lead Newcastle, but he will be announced today as the new Manchester United manager, taking over from the retiring Alex Ferguson.

And as we said earlier today, we also expect there to be lots of comings and goings this summer in the transfer window on Tyneside.

We just cannot let a season like this happen again – it’s been a complete disaster for Newcastle in the Premier League – and coming just four years after our relegation in 2009, makes it even harder to take.

The fans have been taken through the wringer by Newcastle this season – fact.

Pardes looking upset there to see he ain’t in the running for the Manure job. He did finish 5th last season what more does he have to do to prove he’s the man for the job

Why should anyone at the club come out with a statement about that result tho? Surely it would make us look a tad more inept than we do ourselves if we came out saying something along the lines of “its great that wigan lost, it gives us some breathing space”
I do agree with a fair but of what ed says, not all mind, but he does have a tendency to over exaggerate some situations. Imo the best thing the club can do is say nowt and let our talking be done on the pitch, not with our most recent whimpers but with a roar that can make us all proud.

I think Pardew will still be our coach come next season to redeem himself with a fit and healthy squad if we survive.

The other person we need to look at is Carver as he is also part of the problem.

What is the role of a Assistant manager? To take drills, help improve players technical skills and improve their understanding about football. Carvers training might be the reason we are having so many injuries.

Not only that, the whole backroom need to be looked at. From the strength and fitness specialists, trainers, nutritionists, biomechanists, physiotherapists and coordinators. They all play a part in the overall long-term success of the club

Based on a desire for stability alone, Pardew will stay. I’ve already posted 8 or 9 players who will be sold. My fear is the Pardew will replace them with 8 or 9 defenders.

You have to have the right guy in place to go for stability.

Pardew isn’t the guy. He sucks.

We’ve played some rubbish this season and with a good squad.
Look how much energy the French lads had before Pardew coached them for a month.

He’s had his chance and blown it, time for a new manager.

Personally I think it best that AP and the club remain silent re: Wigan defeat and focus on what we’re going to do in the next 2 games….safety is still far from a foregone conclusion, we need to produce against QPR and Arsenal to dictate our own fate and then debate where we go from there….a new, tactically astute manager would be a start….Glenn Hoddle for me

    Charlie,
My friend mentioned those rumours to me a week or so ago, and Sage was saying his mate on the inside had said that talk was sweeping around SJP of that.

I’m still not sure on it, it seems a huge change for Ashley to employ Benitez on the wages he would want. And Benitez is also heavily linked with the Madrid role after Mourinho. (More through his/agents statements than Madrid mind)

On another note, I have been selected for the England squad for the Annual Malawi International School World Cup (It is a great honour to be chosen to represent my country 😉 ), and we have to pick a players name for the back of our shirts. It is a Euro 96 theme, so do I go with Les Ferdinand, or as I’m primarily a centre half, Steve Howey?? (Shearer was still at Blackburn)

On no announcements, I think Ed is being a bit tongue in cheek that we didn’t release the usual rallying call, and how we were all together in this, until the end of the season where they can head off and we remain.

It would be a big change for the club to pay a manger more. But if that means you get a lot more from the players you have so even save on one 5mil player a year then it’s worth it.

Daily mail have pardew on 1.5mil a year…klopp gets 1.7 at dortmund so maybe we pay a decent wage.

    Transfer,

I’m not against paying more for a top manager, I just haven’t seen anything in Ashley’s dealings to suggest he will go against his policy of lowwage high incentives.

I thought Pards was on about 800k, with a huge incentive scheme. He is widely accepted as the lowest paid (Basic) manager in the league.

    Sage,
You certain it will be his last post match? You heard any more from your friend on Benitez? Personally, I think the only reason we are waiting is so Ashley can activate one of his break clauses in Pards contract. Or that he isn’t getting rid, which is a worrying thought for me.

Yeh i hear he was lowest paid, i heard 400k though, either way pretty low.

I just think Ashley might think i could give pardew 20mil transfer budget a year to get us top ten or benitez 15mil a year for top 6.

Ashley is no fool and will learn quickly what will get him best value for money. If benitez agrees to work in our set up it could be great for us as he is proven at the top level (not worlds best but just below i think).

then again pardew might go and we might bring in gary megson or the likes…who knows haha.

From everything I hear Pardew is 100% gone (never like to guarantee things as things change but seems certain). Think you could be right on why we wait til the end of season too.

My friend in certain benitez has been spoken too and that an agreement has been reached. But also paper report that monpellier manager rene girard said he would manager in the prem or championship so he may be the option if we dont escape the drop.

Martinez is out of the question he is going to be the replacement for moyes .
I personally think Rafa would be brilliant for us a little defensive perhaps but well organised and let’s face it we have hardly had free flowing football under our current tactical genius have we
Rafa will also get the dressing room on side by surprise surprise playing people in their correct position and picking people on form
    Not if the face fits

That was before all the fans turned on him though, he has been more careful with his money since then. Think it taught him money doesn’t mean a good player.

I just wish he would scout as well as now but spend like he did then.

    Sage,
I’d be happy with Benitez, I’d also be happy with Girard, and he claims to be talking to a premier league club. That is likely to be us or Everton I would think. Girard fits in much better with Ashleys vision as he has won a title on small budget and has brought through and developed players. The fact Girard said Premier league or Championship last week/week before suggests to me that we have been in talks with him.

Apparently Everton want Martinez, as far as I’m concerned they can have him. In what way has he improved Wigan over the last 4 years, other than they can pass the ball well. They constantly battle the drop. Against Swansea in the second half they were a disorganised rabble.
