Shola Ameobi came on as a substitute last week at West Ham for the first time for a while, and with his first kick of the game, the 31 year-old seemed to injure his knee, and the news today is that he’s out for the rest of the season.
Shola Ameobi – out for the season
This is even more proof that Newcastle cannot expect more than half a season out of their local striker, because of all the injuries he picks up over the length of a season.
And it also seems that French International Moussa Sissoko has played his last game of the season for Newcastle, as he too is ruled out for the season with the knee injury he picked up last week in training.
Since these two players have been known to score some goals, it leaves our goal-scoring capabilities even thinner than they were last weekend – and we wonder who’s going to score the goals in the last two games of the season.
Newcastle have scored only 3 goals in the last 7 games, while managing to concede a massive 16.
The good news is that both Davide Santon (hamstring) and Sylvain Marveaux (groin) could be ready to play in both our last two games, and we need four points to save us from the drop, assuming Wigan can win both their two remaining games.
And we wonder how Massadio Haidara’s hamstring is doing – and whether he will be able to play in either of the last two games of what has been a disastrous Premier League season for Newcastle.

Comment #121Pard’s comment… “We had to move for Moussa Sissoko, who probably we may have done at the end of the year if we had got Loic Remy, and he is not a goalscorer. He’s a midfield player-cum-number 10.”
WTH is he smoking?

Moussa sad himself that he is not a no 10 and he prefers both attack and defend.. that to me is a box to box CM from the player himself, the man has lost it!

Comment #125Krul – Everyone can see him as a box-box or holding-occasional-marauding forward midfielder but Pardew thinks he is #10… Unfortunately he is the manager!!
