Debuchy, Williamson Start – Steven Taylor Missing

qpr

Yet another surprise with the team today – with Steven Taylor missing from the squad – and Mike Williamson is back – and have Newcastle picked up yet another injury in training this week? 🙁

This is getting beyond a joke.

Mathieu Debuchy has been brought back in place of Danny Simpson at right-back, and Danny had a good game last week at West Ham – and it’s probably because of Mathieu’s better attacking play that he’s been brought back.

No word on Steven Taylor, but we have to believe he’s picked up some knock – but Williamson can play well when it matters – as it does today.

But yet another injury surprise today.

The returning Sylvain Marveaux makes the bench but Davide Santon is absent.

Newcastle will play in a 4-3-3 formation as they did last week when they looked more than decent at Upton Park.

QPR have Loic Remy and Bobby Zamora up front in a 4-4-2 formation.

This is the biggest game of the season for Newcastle this afternoon, so we’ll see just how much pride and guts our lads show against a team which is already relegated – and has little to play for – Newcastle have everything to play for.

A win will see us safe in the league this season – a defeat will be an unmitigated disaster.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

QPR (4-4-2): Robert Green; Jose Bosingwa, Nedum Onuoha, Clint Hill (c), Armand Traore; Andros Townsend, Jermaine Jenas, Stephane Mbia, Junior Hoilett; Loic Remy, Bobby Zamora
Substitutes: Brian Murphy, Fabio da Silva, Esteban Granero Shaun Derry, Ji-Sung Park, Adel Taarabt, Jamie Mackie

Newcastle: (4-3-3): Rob Elliot; Mathieu Debuchy, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa; Yohan Cabaye, Cheick Tiote, Jonas Gutierrez; Hatem Ben Arfa, Papiss Cisse, Yoan Gouffran
Substitutes: Steve Harper, Danny Simpson, James Perch, Vurnon Anita, Sylvain Marveaux, Gabriel Obertan, Adam Campbell

Referee: Lee Probert (Wiltshire)

not a bad line up really…maybe had simmo as debuchy just through in the towel against liverpool and that’s not what you need in a relegation battle.

Willo is fine with me…he might as well hoof it long, saves the other defenders knocking it back to elliott to hoof anyway.

I see two of our best players Anita & Marveaux are on the bench AGAIN yet the undroppable Gutierrez & Tiote start. Saying that it should be enough to get a result HWTL

ToonDownSouth whilst I agree with you that Colo and Williamson are a good paring Colo wasn’t anywhere near the back four for that game as he was in Argentina.

Williamson did put in a solid performance though, hopefully that’s auspicious for today.

My stomach’s been turning nots since I woke up hungover at 8 this morning. Jesus I’m nervous. So happy Colo’s back in. Please, please boys, for the love of all that is holy and right in this world, bring back the three points!

Guti could run on the pitch naked and take a dump in the center circle, wouldn’t matter he would still get picked.

Exaclty…we could have beckenbauer and baresi at the back but if we sit the team on our 18 yard line we will struggle to defend.

Hoping Williamson isn’t too nervous, he usually looks a bit panicky on the ball.

Positioning is everything with that front six playing.

If we don’t score 2 or 3 goals then I will be very surprised

They look good going forward though, don’t understand why they have struggled to score even more so than us

I’m not Simpsn’s biggest fan by any stretch of the imagination, but dropping the lad after he did very well at West Ham for a man that has been well of the pace and took a gutless way out against Liverpool tell’s you everything you need to know about Pardew

Yeah, you’re completely right, what am I thinking? Did he play alongside Mbiwa?

    Check

I thought Williamson played well. To be honest I often think you may be capable of having a real discussion, then you resort to calling people turds 😐

We can all see Pardew for what he is – a very very limited manager, with far too much self confidence to the point of delusion – there’s no need to resort to stupid name calling.

    jack

simmo isn’t a favourite so after a good display he is dropped.

The annoying thing is like you say, debuchy threw the towel in at liverpool and wanted off the pitch.

Simmo, despite not signing a new contract and getting dropped as soon as debuchy arrived, has still given 100% every time he has been selected…credit to him for that even if he isn’t the best.

Looking forward to our super dynamic duo of Tiote and Jonas, slips trips and falls, its like a safety induction.

How they are in front of Anita and Marveuax i will never know, even Perchy, our best displays this year have featured Perchy, however he is always cast aside,

Pardew is a total f#cking Joke. The sooner he leaves the better. Just pleased Shola’s injured.

In fairness to anita he was starting to settle and look a good player for us (when we were struggling too) then as soon as tiote returned he was dropped for him and then for perch.

    Sage

It just goes to show what a limited view Pardew had of our players.

He did the same thing with Anita who he dropped for a well below average Tiote.

He seems to have his perfect 11 in his head and simply refuses to alter that irrespective of how they are playing

Happy with that line up, now lets get the 3 points.

Decent attacking options in Marv, Obertan and Campbell if needed. No hoof ball to Shola as an option.

With Colo in the back line I think we’ll see a solid back 4 performance from all involved, including Debuchy.

Willo, as limited as he is, partners Colo well, and given how bad Taylor has been in the last 4/5 weeks I’m actually not too bothered that Willo is playing.

We need a blood and guts performance, we need to stand up and give 100%, we need to get in their faces, don’t let them settle and see their over priced, over hyped prima donnas go missing.

Have Tiote and Guti hold the midfield, allow Cabaye to drift forward and free up Gouffran and HBA to terrorise their dreadful fullbacks.

Will we see it? Hmmm, no comment.

There’s a young player (CB) that ive seen play a few times that I think we should take a look at. Hes called Kurt Zouma an he plays for Saint Etienne in Ligue 1 in France.

Cracking you player (18yrs old) worth a shot, he would be a first choice CB for us within 1-2 seasons and would only cost about 7-9M. Worth a shot. Have a look at him on youtube.

Injury or not Williamson could be a better choice. He is secure at the back if he can play simple and well. Stylor looks very shaky, very insecure recently.
