Newcastle Target Arrested On Suspicion Of Rape

5:35 pm, Wednesday, May 15th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 42 Comments

ESPN is reporting that Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy has been arrested today on suspicion of rape, along with two other unidentified men.

The QPR club will not comment on the charge,s but Metropolitan police have today confirmed that three men, aged 26, 23 and 22, were arrested at an address in Fulham on suspicion of rape.

The police have not publicly identified who the suspects are – and QPR issued this short statement:

“The club is aware of the allegations regarding Loic Remy, but due to police investigations is unable to comment.”

A 34-year-old woman says she was raped by three men on May 7th – a week yesterday.

Loic Remy is a French International striker who at the last minute decided to join bottom club QPR in January instead of Newcastle, whom he had agreed to join earlier in the week he surprisingly ended up signing for QPR – because they offered ridiculously high wages.

QPR were then bottom of the league – and they are still rock bottom of the Premier League, and have been relegated to the Championship.

Newcastle are currently in 13th position having beaten QPR on Sunday by a score of 2-1, and they did the double over QPR, having previously beaten the London club 1-0 at St. James’ Park.

In the game last Sunday Remy scored QPR’s first goal in five games, with a penalty in the 11th minute.

Since he will now leave QPR in the summer – how’s that for loyalty – the 26 year-old Frenchman has said he would like to join Arsenal – who Newcastle play in their final game of the season on Sunday.

Comments welcome.

Note – I’ve been told there’s going to be a minute’s applause for Steve Harper in the 37th minute of the game on Sunday – that’s his number – and it’s in appreciation of Steve’s 20 years at the club and all he’s done for Newcastle – we should be 2-0 up by then too – please pass this on to those attending the game on Sunday.

Yeah it looks like a training kit to me, but then I never buy the away kit anyway. The only one of our away kits I’ve liked in recent years was the black one from last season.

Neither hate nor love the kit.

Jesper…Do we have to go over it again? I think if we do it will just cause offense again :)

  • 10 Tinman - Pardwho? // May 15, 2013 at 5:47 PM

    On Rooney;
The season ticket promotion campaign has started early this year due to our poor performance and our soon disappointment when we find Pardew is still going to be our manager next season.

  • 11 toonking // May 15, 2013 at 5:47 PM

when i think back to HBA first game with Newcastle i keep thinking myself that he was played on the left and i have ready things about him and they seem to all prove HBA’s best on the left hand side not the right side which is where he is playing at the minute.
maybe we just need a right winger because on the left we have probably got enough with Jonas and fergie already plus HBA and marvo who probably are better of as left winger but the RW seems to only have one at the minute and that is obatan 2 if you include injured raylor.

Tsunki..Don’t do it! I made a similar remark earlier and then all hell broke loose :)

Not that I’m taking responsibility mind.

Commotion? Offense? …..and why was I not informed?

  • 14 Ibizatoon - Back By Popular Demand // May 15, 2013 at 5:48 PM

Why do people think the Rooney story is a club publicity stunt?

Surely they’re not daft enough to think we’d believe we’re in for Rooney? Isn’t it just some twitter rubbish?

on the remy situation, first he was going to join us then changed his mind at the last minute for more money, then he gets caught up in this rape assault ( guilty or not ) is that not enough to say – hang on a minute , is he worth the hassle that comes with it ??? the proverbial barge pole comes to mind.!

  • 19 Ibizatoon - Back By Popular Demand // May 15, 2013 at 5:51 PM

Bascially then, people trying to differentiate between what’s offensive and what isn’t.

It resulted in Beattie saying he’s done with the blog for good.

  • 21 Ben_BKK // May 15, 2013 at 5:51 PM

Ibiza – not just Twitter, it was a story posted on the SportsDirect website lol. No doubt just a marketing ploy to get a ton of page views!

  • 22 Tinman - Pardwho? // May 15, 2013 at 5:53 PM

    On Cabaye freekick/corner debate;
When having a shot, Cabaye knows his objective, get it over the wall and hit the top corner. He can clearly visualise what he wants to do.
When taking a freekick (cross), he is told to aim for Williamson/Taylor. When it gets there, it doesnt work. When it doesnt get there, it doesnt work.
When taking a corner he is again trying to aim for the big defender. Its hard to visualise how to get it to the defender, aim too hard and it will be ‘a floater’ and easy for the keeper to claim. To avoid this he tries to put power on it, so it doesnt get past the first man or it goes out for a throw…

In my opinion the best way to take a freekick/corner is too aim for an area, not a player. This way the player is more likely to attack the ball.

    Meh, just a theory.

Ben…What? The sports direct main website?

You have to be kidding me :)

Anyone know what the sports direct website is? You don’t see it advertised much…

  • 24 Tinman - Pardwho? // May 15, 2013 at 5:55 PM

Ibiza, the news came from Sports Direct News Site, saying Newcastle are in talks with Rooney, it was then taken down just a hour or so later. And the media storm has taken over.

  • 25 Ibizatoon - Back By Popular Demand // May 15, 2013 at 5:56 PM

Tinman…That’s crazy stuff. Just because it works on Fifa you think it will work for us?

    Honestly mate, get with reality.

  • 26 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // May 15, 2013 at 5:56 PM

    Ibiza…haha mate ;-) good one!

  • 27 Ibizatoon - Back By Popular Demand // May 15, 2013 at 5:58 PM

SportsDirectNews? Is he taking on Sky as well now?

I need a to sit down on this chair from Sports Direct….ahhhh, he’s taking over.

  • 28 toonking // May 15, 2013 at 5:58 PM

it should be easy enough to see just how good a player really is, when the team who decided to steal him away from us was a relegation battling QPR.
why would a decent player end up at QPR.

  • 29 toon22 // May 15, 2013 at 5:59 PM

    Taking a corner.
If your wanting a player to run onto it,then you need an out swinger. So it travels way from the keeper.
If its an in swinger Imo we need to be hitting it in with alot more pace,at least some times it will go in off someone.
Our corners have been so poor for ages, myself i would just run in with the ball.So far its where our goals come from, hardly ever from a cross of any kind.
But you think some one would have noticed before now lol

    Ibiza –

  • 31 Spoof // May 15, 2013 at 6:03 PM

Ed you have dropped a real clanger putting this one out, if you can, delete the whole lot, there has been more than enough problems caused with this story, we don’t need any more trouble

  • 32 Toon-Prodigy // May 15, 2013 at 6:04 PM

    I reckon Remy said no.

    Spoof, Ibiza.

So we are aspiring to a top 6-8 finish. Im on the same level here.

Very achievable with a fit squad, keeping our star players is a must for this. I think this is all we can get out of Pardew and I think he is capable of this job alone. The only time i’d muster a change is if we seek more (top 4, dreaming) and that time isn’t at the moment. A little stability right now is the answer for me.

I think this club is growing and baby steps wouldn’t hurt at this point in time. A consistent top 8 performance year after year is what Pards is for. Until we get to another level im level headed. Its been a bad season in the premier for us but i don’t think I’v seen enough that he can’t do the job in hand next season. Next season will be nothing like this one. This is NUFC where talking about.

With the correct signings this summer, I can see us really kicking on next season with good and sound quality in depth which we lacked last season.

  • 33 stuart no9 // May 15, 2013 at 6:10 PM

toonking- since he joined them what has he done? i have seen him score 1 excellent goal wigan – i think, apart from that , the odd touches but not really a player who would improve us as a “team”.

  • 34 Spoof // May 15, 2013 at 6:11 PM

T-P, to go to a higher level would imo, take heavy investment, we would need a good manager an a good owner, the former would be wasted without the latter, so the way I see it, our hopes for next season is possibly the max that we could get to with the current regime.

  • 35 Toon-Prodigy // May 15, 2013 at 6:20 PM

Looking at this situation and our current squad, do you think we will hit a target of top 8? I’v got every belief we will. We won’t suffer another season like this one in my own personal opinion. Pardew or not we will hit those targets should Derek and Charnley learn from their mistakes or Mike Ashley for that matter. This season we have more investment into the squad also with extra revenue from TV money.

Ah chelsea have just arrived at the Amsterdam Arena. If only man eh!!

  • 36 toonking // May 15, 2013 at 6:39 PM

i am not saying myself he is good.
i was saying it like a question asking just how good would a player be if it was QPr he joins.

  • 37 toonking // May 15, 2013 at 6:40 PM

basically it is easy to answer

  • 38 Ketsbaia9 // May 15, 2013 at 6:43 PM

Remember the time when Bernard, Bowyer, Dyer, Woodgate and Bramble were all involved in a gang rape? That story was ridiculous.

  • 39 north east lincs toon // May 15, 2013 at 7:21 PM

34 year old he must go for milfs!

  • 40 toonluvva // May 15, 2013 at 8:05 PM

Remy arrested of suspicion of rape. If the case is prgressed by CPS that’ll put a cat among the pigeons concerning any transfer deals ffor him over the summer.

On another subject, I’ve read that Poyet might be leaving Brighton for Fulham putting Martin Jol back on the market.

There was a lot of paper talk that Ashley was a big fan of Jol and might of appointed his as our manager. Would anyone fancy having Jol here?

  • 41 Geord Aye Mind Tricks // May 15, 2013 at 8:32 PM

Watching the Benfica v Chelsea game, I wouldn’t mind Benfica’s manager. They’re playing really attractive, attacking, incisive football. Don’t get to see that much as a toon fan.

Read an interview with Rafa Benitez in the Express today where he was quoted (about where his future lay) that he would choose between a team ready to challenge for trophies straight away or an ‘interesting project.’……… would have been getting excited if I didn’t have a strong feeling that Pardew is going to hoodwink Ashley into keeping his job.
