Alan Pardew Hints At Possible Coloccini Stay

6:35 pm, Friday, May 17th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 123 Comments

Alan Pardew held his press conference this afternoon,  and he  was asked about Steve Harper and Fab Coloccini – possibly playing their last games  for the club on Sunday.

fab coloccini and alan pardew

Newcastle captain and manager – together for next season?

Sunday will be Steve Harper’s last game for Newcastle after 20 years at the club, and Alan Pardew said he had worked with Steve for two and a half years now,  and had always found him to be a top class professional.

And then Alan was asked if it could also be Coloccini’s last game, and Pardew said it was clear in these last two games just how important Fab was to the Newcastle side, and when he’s in the side the stats show that Newcastle do a lot better than when he’s not playing.

This is what Alan said when asked whether it could be an emotional game for the Newcastle captain on Sunday:

“It could be emotional – I mean the importance to him and the team,  you only have to look at the stats when he plays and  they are considerably better,  and we’ve really missed him until that point when he returned.”

“And getting over the line has been a big part of Coloccini in my opinion.” “My hope is he stays at his fantastic club,  and that our fans will give him that message on Sunday that we very much want him to stay, and I think there is an opportunity of that.”

We don’t know if Alan knows something that we don’t about Colo – but it will be important that the fans at the game on Sunday let Colo know he’s loved at the club.

And  it would be a massive positive if Newcastle can get Fabricio Coloccini to stay for the next three years and see out his contract.

Coloccini is and has been a massive player for Newcastle United.

Comments welcome.

Ed, when you string together so many posts over such a small period it’s hardly worth the effort to comment.

Pardumb mouth has run away from him again. I dont think he realises blogs like this one latch on to everything he says and turn it into a headline. If he did he’d probably be more careful with his utterances. Colocinni had a farewell party at his house this week. Pics are all over the internet. Face it Come the summer, he;s a GONER!

Could of been pardews leaving party (players only),
Or just a party for staying up showing everyone theres no trouble amongst players.

Pardew doesn’t have to worry about our little blog after he came out and openly critisied both Ashley and Llambias during one of his ill-informed rants that was nothing more than a vein attempt to divert the blame for this shocking season away from himself

Pardew is a kind like Pele… becomes the opposite of what he says… especially in the post game interviews.

    Ed,
I love that you put so much of your own time into keeping us true supporters updated.

The comments of late however see to have turned into a management knocking session, and aren’t worth reading.

What happened to the contributors that provided educated comments about the team – have they been scared off by the doom & gloomers (you all know who you are…). An opinion is one thing, sounding like a scratched record something I’d rather not endure.

Ed, I like I’m sure you, have gone through these sort of times on a number of occasions throughout the years but am proud to say I’ve always stood behind the club through thick & thin.

Let the fair-weather supporters show their true colors and turn in their season tickets – I’m sure they’ll be back when the sun shines.

(and yes, I expect flak from many out there – like I care…..)

could it be that the contributors that provided educated comments about the team have realised that pardew is not the man for the job , and have in fact become the doom and gloomers themselves ??

repost toon kk no we shoudent get used to pardew being manager next season there even if MA wants to keep him he got rid of hughton for doing nothink wrong so why should 80-90 percent of nufc have to put up with it when we pay and buy mechandice . I SAY HIT MA WHERE IT HURTS IF HES NOT WILLING TO SACK HIM or if your happy with boring football week in week out carry on feeding the beast nufc destiny is down to the fans………

  • 17 eaststandgeordie1982 // May 17, 2013 at 7:09 PM

    Stuart from previous

I know hes not bothered if i sell my st it was just me saying i cant watch anymore of pardews games if hes still he even if i make a loss im not fussed.

  • 18 9 // May 17, 2013 at 7:12 PM

donkey @16 : “nufc destiny is with the fans” – how can this possibly be true or anywhere near it when nufc destiny has been rescued from bankrupcy by an interest-free loan of around £150 million. Don’t you think whoever provided this interest-free loan has somewhat of a say in nufc destiny?

  • 19 stuart no9 // May 17, 2013 at 7:16 PM

eaststand @ 17 i wish more supporters adopted your stance ! sadly not many will – but well done!

  • 20 donkey // May 17, 2013 at 7:21 PM

of course he has a say but the fans have a say aswell i dont hate ma think he has done a lot of good things for the club. but just thinks its criminal that hughton gets sacked and pardew gets kept on because hes freinds with them both. im realistic with nufc i dont expect us to go out and pay silly money for players and stuff but i do want some sort of entertainment from how we play

  • 21 eaststandgeordie1982 // May 17, 2013 at 7:22 PM

For all the hoof ball surmisers http://t.co/QfN2tsXg99 we were actually 1 long ball pass behind man u last year. Admittedly more long balls this year but key injuries to cabaye and hba may account for less play on the ground ?

If i m honest to be fair we wasnt a fret this season.

We need more experienced PL players like AC and Peter Crouch to get our passing game going on the front foot .

All the injuries and Europe have made me play the cautious defensive system with players out of position looking bewildered and uncomfortable.

But trust me thats not normal for my teams I m a winner ask the Charlton , West Ham and Reading fans.

Now we re over the line we might beat Arsenal and then if we get some big strong lads over the line who put a good shift in next season we ll be a fret trust me.

Odds on SkyBet for Benitez have came in from 8/1 to 6/1 in the last half an hour. SkyBet is also on taking maximum bets of £30 on it.

Means lots of money is going on him.

Ashley in training ground today, means he has already fired Pardew. Why else would he come visit before the end of the season?

  • 32 Big Pappa Cissé // May 17, 2013 at 8:18 PM

I think (and hope) Pardew will be gone at the end of the season and I picked up on what he said a few weeks ago saying his job may not be safe, as if to set us up so we wouldn’t be as shocked. Benitez looking good IMO.

  • 37 Big Pappa Cissé // May 17, 2013 at 8:50 PM

I’m no conspiracy theorist but a few things point to a new manager coming in.

Pardew said a few weeks back his job wasn’t safe as if to soften the blow if he was sacked

Cancels a radio phone in for no apparent reason.

Ashley flies in to Newcastle on the day of the canceled interview.

Benitez odds change in favour of NUFC and has said he wants to stay in England.

Far fetched I know but I really hope Pardew will be gone after the Arsenal game. Then Benitez can have a full pre season, hopefully get £20 million to spend and get us challenging Everton & Liverpool for 5th next season.

    On Young Players.

Are we fighting hard for the top young players.
(are we buying what Arsenal/ Man Utd is buying?)

Any tom, dick or harry can buy young players.
(Be clear, do be deceived by buying “youth policy”)

Do fans see Newcastle Utd as a mid-table club (Top 8-10)
or do we foresee ourselves to challenge top 4 in another 5 to 10 years time ?? (Some fan might not even be around anymore to watch us win Any trophies, thats sad)

    With this policy.
Only by challenging top end club for top end youth, then will we be able to successfully bear fruits with this kind of policy.

Most of the time. we will swim around mid-table and challenge Stoke, Soton, maybe Hull, Cardiff, Sunderland and etc. (Thats really not what we want to see after 10 years if we are still around)

  • 41 Goodfella // May 17, 2013 at 9:01 PM

Just a guess but I thought the Pardew 8 year contract, if he was sacked, meant only paying the rest of the season? Quite an Ashley type move if the visit was to pay up 1 last game!

Really do hope though if it is Benitez we give him the backing to aim high.

  • 94 matias // May 17, 2013 at 10:24 PM

I´m ashamed by the so called NUFC fans. Pardew is the main reason we got the unlikely TOP-5 finnish last season. He´s obviously very good with most of the players and he`s much more reluctant to make unreasonable excuses after lost matches than most managers. He may be a little bit too stubborn on the formations but he definitely knows the starting line up better than the so called fans here. Looking forward to the next seven years.

Not trolling at all. Makes me sick how people get on a bandwagon and lose all critical thinking. And how they forget the good things when things are going wrong. Many suggestions have been made NUFC would be better off with people like Sami Hyypia (who I greatly admired as a player) or some untested (in Premier league) French managers. Oh come on. Me and HBA disagree.

Ashley just keeps on doing dosnt he? How he became a billionare making decisions like this one I cannot fathom, but I dont hold much hope for our future right now.

  • 108 valle // May 17, 2013 at 10:49 PM

    Doing it* it should say

  • 109 Mister Tuff // May 17, 2013 at 10:50 PM

matias @93 -you state you are ashamed by NUFC fans and then spout some other tripe praising Percy.
Are you the same matias who about a week ago -after the QPR game -when describing the Elliot -penalty box incident asked other posters what the rules were?
Whilst you are entitled to your opinion -like anybody else – if you do not even know the “rules of the game” it suggests you know nowt about football. Buy a rule book and come back next year.

  • 110 donkey // May 17, 2013 at 10:54 PM

I SAY HIT MA WHERE IT HURTS IF HES NOT WILLING TO SACK HIM or if your happy with boring football week in week out carry on feeding the beast nufc destiny is down to the fans………these pro pardew people you have got to be trolls or mentally retarded

  • 111 jimmysmith // May 17, 2013 at 11:02 PM

Isn’t it unlikely that Pards would be sacked with little or no compensation because of a performance stipulation and then be replaced by a manager who surely would want a cast iron deal with guarrantees regarding transfer fees and his own backroom staff.

I’d love it, despite not really disliking Pards, but there’s a cinder in snows chance.

Having said that, my musings Toonwise are rarely even ballpark, so the Porky Spaniard’s doubtless a done deal then!

  • 112 Novocastrian66 // May 17, 2013 at 11:05 PM

There’s no way I would stop going to the match because Pardew is manager. The club is bigger than anyone individual.

  • 113 Black and White with an army lol // May 17, 2013 at 11:07 PM

sorry lads but as long as Pardew is in charged we will be on the verge of relegation every season end off, i would love to give him a challenge my team against his and i would bet my team would stuff his at least 10-0 and that’s at half time.

  • 114 AndyNUFC // May 17, 2013 at 11:16 PM

I really dont sit on either side of the ‘pro/anti’ Pardew arguing, and its ironic we are still clambering for a successful manager after all these years – but at least it isnt the usual mercenary player slagging our club off we have to target hate at these days.

I just want to see the club go forward. If the team is happy, manager is happy and Ashley is happy, at least its a collective positive effort to go forward with.

My thoughts go back to the outcries when Carroll, Barton, Enrique and Nolan were sold, and from the basis of last season Ashley won that gamble. He clearly didnt put his money on any gamble this year, which made it frustrating to not build on such progress.

You have to just accept that if there isnt going to be a change in manager, then hope theres a change in attitude by Ashley, and he keeps Llambias as far away from deals as possible.

  • 115 Cisse's Big Toe // May 17, 2013 at 11:16 PM

    bad news guys

Alan Pardew says he is 100% confident he will be #NUFC manager next season, after seeing Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias on Friday morning

  • 116 Black and White with an army lol // May 17, 2013 at 11:16 PM

personal note, my boys have won the junior league tonight 6-2 tonight against a team who never lost a game at home i’m very proud of them in some way i’m sad because iv’e got 6 lads going on youth develop and thats 4 at Boro, 1 at Carlisle and 1 at Arsenal, 4 years iv’e been coaching these lads from bottom to top and i couldn’t be more prouder.

  • 117 ITUNDERASHELL // May 17, 2013 at 11:33 PM

No signings until July, looking like out of contract and experienced players. Ashley will love that and Pardew has played his ace.
Let me see now who will be available in the summer?

  • 118 SupaToonKid // May 17, 2013 at 11:38 PM

Wouldn’t be great to see Pardew’s smug reassurance of maintaining his job rubbed off his face and he gets sacked. The man is a media tool and 2nd rate tactician. Benitez or Martinez please MA!

  • 119 Joe Blog // May 17, 2013 at 11:40 PM

My heart has sank, Pardew’s staying. The future is bleak.

  • 120 TimKrulFan // May 17, 2013 at 11:42 PM

I don’t think I can handle 7 more years of pardew.

  • 121 HAZZY1 // May 17, 2013 at 11:45 PM

Anyone heard from torq or sage ive just heard because pards is staying and wants Prem Exp he will look at Lescott, McCarthy, Puncheon, Defoe, Carroll, but we r still in for Sakho, M’Bengue and PEA although Pea looks hard to get over the line he wants to go to a big club in Europe also we r still interested in Siem De Jong but that 1 depends on ajax- Price?

  • 122 SupaToonKid // May 17, 2013 at 11:53 PM

Pardew is f’ing idiot. He says we desperately need to sign 2 more strikers as we need more goals. What was the point in signing Gouffran then? We need 1 more striker as we have Cissé & Gouffran. What we need for sure is 2 wingers as we lack creative width, a LW such as Chadli or Mertens would be perfect and I’d love to see us get a Redmond or Ince for RW. Ben Arfa & Marveaux are best operated as CAMs thus utilising them there will benefit creativity more as then we can have proper wingers.

  • 123 Ben3arfa // May 17, 2013 at 11:53 PM

DO PEOPLE THAT SUPPORT PARDEW STAYING HAVE NO SENSE OF SELF PRIDE FOR THEMSELVES AND THE CLUB???

How can you support a manager who led two strong teams to one of the worst derby day defeats then after a fortnight allows the same strong team to be slaughtered in front of a full house in SJP??

DO PEOPLE THAT SUPPORT PARDEW HAVE ANY LOGIC??

Its not about the “one bad season” thing , its the damage he has inflicted to the clubs reputation, and sadly the attitude he has instilled in the minds of some supporters it seems ie. full of excuses , unimaginative and lack of ambition
