This French Forward Has Improved Greatly This Season

When Sylvain Marveaux arrived from Rennes on a free transfer two years ago – just one day after Demba Ba signed on for the club – we thought Sylvain was going to be an excellent signing – and he would add some class to the Newcastle side.

sylvain marveaux wigan

Sylvain Marveaux has looked a very good player this season

But before he arrived on Tyneside,  Sylvain had struggled with injuries at Rennes, and had missed the last seven months of that season with a groin strain, and for his first season on board, Sylvain suffered a number of groin and other injuries, and didn’t play too many games.

He only appeared 10 times for Newcastle last season, but this season he has appeared 35 times with two goals, and he’s looked like the player we thought we had signed two years go.

Sylvain is probably the most improved player in the squad, and is one of the few players at Newcastle, who have played better this season then last.

Sylvain has been out recently with a groin strain,  but returned to the squad last Sunday at QPR, but was surprisingly not brought on in the second half of that game – Gabby Obertan was preferred.

But it seems that Alan Pardew will use Marveaux in our last game against Arsenal tomorrow, and the Newcastle manager had this to say about the skillful French forward:

“We’ve missed Sylvain,” “The fact that he’s back is great news. He could be important for us. We didn’t need him last week, but this could be a different scenario. He’ll certainly play a part.”

Sylvain could again have a big impact next season, when we are hoping the side will be challenging for a top six position, although we need at least two new strikers this summer – so we don’t struggle so much to score goals.

We think Sylvain is the most improved player at Newcastle this season,  and he leads in assists at the club this season with six, and Davide Santon is second with four assists.

What do you think?

No he hasn’t. Pardew, ever quick off the mark, has just decided to give him a couple of games; can’t be having too many though, we don’t want to create too many chances and cause a fret, do we?

Nice to see them show some real ambition, the seasons target is to slide into mediocrity?
Maybe with a massive push we might become average…

At least we can look forward to a cup run….lol

No he hasn’t, Ed. He has shown some talent, as he had when he first arrived, injured! He is enigmatic, frustrating but a lot better than Whoppernut – and is in reality, a player like Stephen Glass from many moons ago – can stand out occasionally when surrounded by a sea of dross and under achievers.

    And here we go again.

Everyone reads Pardew’s quote with excitement, as they sense they may be able to twist it into yet another reason to post abuse about him in a blog comments section.

donkey’s right. Go to a game, make a banner. Please.

Your just the sort of poster i was talking about misinterpreting one line from an argument consisting of 15 to justify your silly little boy dig at Pardew, perhaps if you were able to understand the rest you might be able to join in proper debate, its stopped raining now so you can go out and play with your little friends again

How are we meant to react to what he says?

Yes Alan we also hope to struggle up as far as 10th?
If were lucky we might avoid another cup run?
And its a blessing we werent unlucky enough to have to play european football?
It seems to me the toon need a new press officer who can have a quiet word with AP.

    Afternoon chaps and chapesses,

Been busy fighting fires since this morning, so thought I may be able to bring my new found skills to the blog. Just call out “fire” or preferably “fuego” and I’ll be there!

So, what’s happening then? Do I need to ask?

    Fray

Some people are understandably frustrated with Pardew, and when people are of that mindset then one line from a cogent argument is often all it takes to render the rest of it unreadable.

Pardew has lost a significant amount of support, and will need to drastically improve next season with not only results but performances to have a cat in hell’s chance of undoing this damage.

Of course he’s not solely to blame for this season, but a lot of people put much more responsibility for this season at his door than others do, it’s a matter of perception really.

We are all fans of the Toon – and like or not you don’t have the monopoly on wisdom. Your opinions are no more relevant or important than anybody else – but it would help if you expressed them without just slagging others off.

    Repost—-
@Jamiemac and other pardew lovers —

Pardew got us to 5th but he could of achieved even champions league if he adapted to the 4-3-3 correctly and not go negatively to try out his stupid negative sit deep tactics in the second half of that good season. Also let me tell you this, he has done well for West Ham, Charlton, Southampton first year as well, well until he…. got found out! The first season he took over a good squad with high morale, spirit and chemistry and god bless Chris Hughton for this. Pardew has always failed on his second season because his tactics got found out by every Premier League team as his adapts to his normal hoof ball deep playing philosophy.

He changed players work rate such as Tiote which used to be a holding defensive midfielder to attacking midfielder which he himself quoted “I am trying to make him be like Essien from Chelsea and adapt his play” Tiote is not Essien, and this has completely destroyed Tiotes build and play. He turned Ben Arfa one of the most talented players in the whole world to a defensive player and made him track back so much that he barely gets an opportunity to attack.

You don’t need me to explain how negative and how big of a ego this guy is full of. When has he ever blamed himself for how he got it wrong? once, twice, three times? NO not even once. He goes around blaming everyone at the training ground, players, owner and even us fans!

What do you mean its not Pardew’s fault for the team playing bad? Are you blind, stupid, an idiot? Is he not our manager? does he not direct the philosophy of his tactics and intemperate it within the squad? have we got another imaginary manager you are not telling us about? He directs how the players play, long pass, short pass, speed, tempo, defensive duties, attacking duties, pressing, containing. He is in charge of all of these stuff, he is our manager. Do you not know what goes on in the management world of football and tactics? He cooperated the negative tactics into the squad. And also you are saying Benitez wont get us playing.

Seriously are you “JamieMackem” cause all I see here is you wanting Pardew to stay and relegate us you fool. Benitez has put another cup to his cabinet that being Europa league and Pardew? Saint Johnsons Paint Trophy.

Anita- Ajax prospect, coach saw him as a son. He played brilliantly which secured Ajax title with him playing. He had 3 MOTM awards in a row before Cabaye came back from injury and straight into the squad to replace him.

Tiote – Pardew changed him from being defensive and holding mid to attacking minded clueless chicken wondering around the pitch, giving away stupid freekicks and made a negative impact.

Cabaye – Do you know how good this lad performs for his team who don’t rely on hoof the ball tactics. Wake up you twat, he was our best player last season before all the negativity got to him. Linked with Bareclona, Manchester United, Tottenham, is that a coincidence? No.

Cisse – He is still Premier Leagues best strikers, 7 goals disallowed, always left on his own, no support what so ever from midfield. There is a big massive space between cisse and other team mates, others are all defending and Cisse is left on his own against 5-6 players on opposition. You really are clueless, you don’t watch the matches and you come on here to rant to keep Pardew? how about you shut it.

Debuchy – He was excellent in the Euro’s, you are guessing why he came here with the age over 27? Pardew got him cause he wanted to make sure Cabaye stayed otherwise, Cabaye was long gone.

Sissoko – Every player has a massive boost of morale when they want to prove themselves in the Premier League, Pardew played him out of position ever since in a attacking role just behind Cisse. I don’t understand this stupid twat, Sissoko is a holding mid where should be playing next to Tiote.

Mbiwa – Amaetuer? his first season in PL and his excellent, he has saved us from relegation. Go worship your bramble in sunderland you tool.

Santon – Santon is a work in progress, excellent talent but wont progress with Pardew in charge.

All those comments you made about the players are negative and you go on about other fans of how negative we are? We want the good for the team, the players. We work so hard, get paid and we come back home or a weekend to relax to see negativity like this which makes sure want to shout out so loud?

You are not a toon fan, you are a troll, a mackem. A toon fan would want best for his club, players cause we live to work and shouldn’t put up with this joke of a show.

Wasn’t giving you insight. I just think you’d be better off not telling people how to feel about him. If they want to twist his words against him then they will do so, and arguably even more so if you tell them not to do it.

Personally, I hate Pardew now. Every single word from his slimy bullsh*t mouth is an utterance of nonsense. You telling me, or others, how to perceive what he says will not go down well.

    There’s some insight 😉
