Alan Pardew went on nufcTV immediately after the third successive home defeat, in which we have conceded 10 goals and scored none.
Alan Pardew – I’ve learned a lot
So we’ve gone from 5th top to 5th bottom in a short twelve months, and that’s kind of par for the course for Newcastle fans.
Alan Pardew had this to say on nufcTV after the game:
“I think you see in the first half that we look a different team without the pressure on. The quality we showed in that half was terrific against a great Arsenal team who were bang in form.”
I wanted to highlight the fact that we get fifty two thousand and we’d probably get fifty two thousand in the Championship but that doesn’t mean to say that we should just expect that.”
“We have to deliver better and we have to deliver better performances and a better commitment to games.” “I’ve learned a lot and I’ll be better for it.”
It’s been a very poor season for Newcastle in the Premier League for multiple different reasons, although we did quite well in the Europa League.
But now we are not in the Europa League next season, we should do a lot better in the Premier League.
But what happens when we get back into the Europa League or the Champions League – sometime down the road – we have no idea.
But we’re looking forward to doing an awful lot better next season – we have to do an awful lot better next season.
This season is simply not good enough for Newcastle United.

Comment #41For a short while in the first half I actually enjoyed watching the game. We did play some neat football and wouldn’t allow Arsenal to settle. Then the hoofing started, and we once again looked like the unispired side we’ve been all season. I can’t quite understand it. We do have a decent team, we should have been able to at least create something in the second half. Instead the team detaches, and every player is all over the place. We attack with two or three players, and none of them knows where to play the ball or where to move. Instead it becomes obvious that we don’t practice offensive movement and set plays. Everything is up to luck. We even cross the ball towards the oppositions box when we don’t have a single body in there! Just no team effort at all, just every man for himself trying to figure out how to attack. For a team to create chances and score goals, simultaneous movement and patterns are needed.
We even do hoofballing bad.
While it would be nice having a stable club building a foundation with the same manager over a long period of time like Fergie did with Man Utd, I don’t see Pardew being that man. He won’t do anything with the tactics, he’ll just buy new players hopong they’ll perform miracles for him.
The main difference between Sir Alex and Pardew as football managers is quite simple – Sir Alex knows football, Pardew doesn’t have a clue.

Comment #46if pardew insists on doing the defensive coaching again next season, surly we need a good offensive coach in there to, because its just not working, and as for the dead ball kicks, we didn’t get one goal from a corner kick this season and never looked like getting one either.

Comment #47Terrible season although I feel the actual squad is better than last seasons squad, so why? Please don’t blame the Europa Cup as we generally made 8~9 changes to every team that played in Europe.
I’m not convinced with Pardue but know he’s going to be our manager for the next few years, so won’t say anymore on this topic.
Harper, Simpson, Colo, Gosling and maybe Obertan
will leave this summer and we need quality replacements, preferably British as we have too many French in the squad.
We still need a replacement for Demba Ba, so either PEA or Remy as I can’t think of any decent British strikers who would fit except for Big Andy…..
Maybe we’ll have an influx of players from Holland, such as Alderweild, Douglas, Siem de Jong, etc…. Sakho looks a great prospect and alongside Mibwa could be our central defense for many seasons to come, although more Brits with PL experience is needed.
This summer will be interesting as we need a solid backbone for the team. We were fortunate to stay in the PL this season even though we have very good players at this club.
Black and white is in the blood but we are playing terrible football and in Pardue, I do not see a good future…..

Comment #48Nice to see Campbell get a run out and nobody pass the ball to him.
Good riddance to that season. Bring on the next one – surely it can only get better and the manager can “prove” himself after getting the extra 5 players (MINIMUM) we need.
Carroll (inevitable)
Mertens
Sakho
Stam
Kouyate
please no more no.23 – we need to move on…..

Comment #49it doesn’t really matter if we brought in 5 to 10 players next season, they will end up sitting on the bech and wondering why Jonas, Tiote, Shola keep playing and they are not.
I have no problem with Jonas but it’s getting ridiculous, he has been overworked and his place is unchallenged in the team. Yesterday he thought he was going to be subbed, but he wasn’t and he didn’t seem to be happy.
MYM looks better as LB, much better than Haidara, It would be great if he plays with Santon or HBA on the left instead Jonas all the time. Santon scored his first goal when he was pushed up front against wigan. Santon with Debuchy will also make a great partnership on the right. There so many combinations which can be experimented, but pardew doesn’t seem to know how or doesn’t want to try.
I really really hate this manager, really being monotonous and perdictable, too lazy to try something new. I don’t think pardew could bring the best out of players within formation/tactic, tbh I don’t know what pardew trying to implement to this team, I don’t know what his game plan. Try to defend = fail, try to attack = fail, try long balls = fail, he has fail at everything. He tried to be like Mourinho, but Mourinho can see players quality and has good tactic, he can combine both and complement both.
for example Santon, he wasn’t LWB he was RW and Mourinho saw his quality and made him LWB, he needs SAnton quality as LWB for his tactic/formation and Santon became his first choice LWB.

Comment #59Look at villas Squad and compatre it to ours, Pardew will not even have westwood/Lowton in our 18, never mind first 11.

Comment #60To be honest we don’t always hoof it. It’s just the last bit.
It’s because we run of ideas on how attack further. We do pass it in midfield and around the build up. When we get to the last third, we hoof it for cisse.
Marveaux and Arfa are dribblers from deep. We need another player that can attack inside in the box. We usually have only cisse and thus just resort to hoofing.
Pardew either has to learn how to attack or just leave. 0 goals scored at home in 3 matches. If not for individual brilliance we don’t seem to have what it takes to score even 2 goals in a game.

Pards maybe slightly edges it.

I’d go for di cannio – seems to have no set plan and his style of management will annoy the players one by one so nobody will want to stick around and work with him long term.
After that there are a lot of average managers like hughton, pulis, pardew, jol, pochetino, and martinez, all ok but only have one way to play and if it isn’t working don’t make changes.
Then the basic people like laudrupp, allerdyce and moyes who do the basics but can make changes and, whether nice to watch or not, get some good results and usually build a solid top ten team.
Then you move up the the redknapps and avb who seem to do quite well, play a nice enough style and get results with it (QPR were full of unmotivated players, nobody could have saved them).
Then you have the higher levels where managers have won things around europe, mancini, benitez, wenger.
Topped off with Sir Alex who is just everything you want in a manager, desire, intelligence, knows when he needs help, control but mainly desire to improve, everything

I think that’s our problem, we never seem to have a plan to get goals. We don’t work them well from open play and our set pieces are rubbish.
Like you say, not sure on stats, but over this and last season I wonder how many goals are down to solo strikes/runs/direct free kicks…..i will hazard a guess its over 60%….we don’t attack well as a team.
Yesterday we did quite well in the first half, some nice movement, but in the second we kept the passing going but never managed to move it out of our own half/middle of pitch then ended up being too direct.
It’s something which needs addressing…we need more quality out wide (a couple lads who can cross a ball, cut it back nicely, chip in with a goal) as well as serious work on our movement.

di cannio hasn’t got the talent to manage a top team, much like roy keane….you can shout at lower league players on a few grand a week…shout at prem league players on 30k a week and they will just laugh at you, unless you are top manager who can back it up with trophies.
Di cannio will soon have the team against him if he keeps up all this shouting/slapping he talks about.

We do have a problem with collapsing, when things go wrong they go very wrong.
I put these huge defeats more down to the players though, ?We don’t have a leader (other than colo and he isn’t the best) to really rally the team and have some steel.
We miss the barton or nolan type of character, every team needs a player or two like that.

Comment #69Pards said only a couple of weeks ago Sissoko was to be bought this coming summer but due to Remy not signing he jumped up a place.
I think we may hget 2 possibly 3 players and that will be it.
Pards is useless and if he is not replaced i genuinely believe by Christmas he will have lost the players and we will be adrift at the bottom.
Not one player will be happy with this style of play.

I’ve accepted that Pardumb is a complete tool.
But,
Are our players intelligent enough? You can have all the skill and technique in the world but you can have also have a complete lack of awareness and of a footballing intelligence. Nobody sums this up more than Hatem Ben Arfa. This lad can run, he has flair he turns players inside out BUT he seems pretty poor at seeing what’s around him and he makes poor decisions. Of course he can only see what’s around him if there is anything around him but too many times he loses the ball because he gets his head down, runs and then has no idea what to do…
He turned two players inside out yesterday, got in the box…. and then smashed it over, didn’t even hit the target, rushed it, didn’t look up and wasted it.
Hatem is just 1 example, this is not an attack on him, I just genuinely believe we don’t have enough intelligence in the team. Cabaye and Collo seem to me to be the only 2 guys who have that intelligence.

Comment #73Time is up for PArdew!!
he full of excuses, has no tactics, is clueless, and so interested in his own self importance!! if he can not get the best out of the most talented group of players at NUFCs disposal since the keegan days then move on now.
If MA had sense he would make a simple business dicesion and get rid, and buy in the quality and experience we need to manage these players. Pardew is clearly not that man!!

Comment #74What a horrible season and boy it couldn’t end fast enough for me. I am aware that the team has had injuries and European football. But the performance has just been horrible no matter what players we’ve played. I think what actually saved us from relegation is the fact that Colocinni returned from injury. It certainly wasn’t Pardew. He simply doesn’t get anything out of this team and to me it’s a mystery how a man can get so little out of those players. I really hope he gets sacked, cause there is no excuse big enough for the way the team has performed this season. I hope Ashley uses big money to get us someone has top flight experience… Doubt it will happen, but the thought is nice.
So depressing watching us play at home and not land a single shot within the framework. Laughable… We generated next to nothing and there just isn’t any synergy in the team. Nobody has a clue as to what the game plan really is…
Sack him and get someone who has proven them selves.

Comment #75That headline – that’s just the point he doesn’t learn. He has always been the same wherever he has gone. Totally deluded arrogant p..t
He never learnt that Ba and Cisse don’t work in a 442 or in a 433 with Cisse as a winger. Only Ba leaving afte rhalf a system stopped him doing it.
Anita can’t get a game . Cabaye way always played too deep, Marveaux was mostly on the bench and as mentioned Cissse often played as a winger.
Pardw complaining we didn’t have Shola yesterday made me feel physically sick. All he knows is hoof and trying to shut up shop which still conceded 68 goals !!!
Carrol will come back and nod away a few corners and maybe score a few set pieces before getting injured but our flair technical players will leave in droves to be replaced by Jay Spearing types and we may finish 12th.
We will be known as the new Stoke.
Never felt so powerless in accepting the inevitable that Pardew really is here for another 7 years.

Comment #78On our corners – does anyone actually think that Pardew says to Cabaye “hit the corners in short so they don’t get past their first man at the near post” or “if that doesn’t work hit them sky high and ten yards past the back post”.
Cabaye’s corners are abysmal and the mistake Pardew is making is allowing him to keep taking them.
Some of our purples may not be as good as I or many other fans thought they were. Pardew has made mistakes, defo, but some of the performances from our so called top players have been consistently poor. Flashes of brilliance count for nothing without an end result.
It’s going to be an interesting transfer window and an interesting start to next season. The management at the club have got to get both right or the biggest kick off to to the new season will be on the terraces not the pitch.

Ben Arfa annoys me…sure sometimes he doesn’t have support around him so has to do it himself but too often he gets in a good position and just doesn’t assess his options well enough or quick enough.
It’s almost like his brain can’t keep up with his feet.
But in terms of what we need to put right, thats not top of the list.
