New French Defender – We’ll Be Stronger Next Season

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has probably performed the best of any of our new arrivals, as the 23 year-old is quickly getting used to the English Premier League.

mapou yanga-mbiwa closeup

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa – played well for Newcastle

Mapou, as we’ve said before, is a leader both on and off the field, and he’s been one of our best players in the last couple of crunch games, when the defense tightened up on the return of Fabricio Coloccini, and only conceded one goal in the games at West Ham and QPR for a massive 4 points.

The defender was still speaking through an interpreter, when he had this to say in the Telegraph today:

“Each manager has his own way of doing things, and we’ve come in and bought into that philosophy here to ensure we come back stronger next season. We now know what to expect.”

Mapou needs to learn English over the summer months, but he has already proven his versatility at Newcastle, and he’s played in every position across the back four, and currently is starting at left back.

For the record Mapou has now played 19 times for Newcastle, and he’s looked a very good player.

Remember that all five players who arrived in January will be a lot better next season, and we remain positive that we can do very well in the Premier League next term.

What do you think?

Having Wasabi used as mud pack in his health spa getaway is too good for Ashley.

    Jail from previous thread,

There is still the possibility that Ashley is indeed learning lessons still. He is sometimes hamfisted in his approach, and makes way too many blunders for my liking, but I’m in the bracket of people who think that if Pardew is moved on we may see a top manager brought in…on my more positive days anyway haha

Does it make me naive? I don’t think so, perhaps I am optimistic when the evidence would certainly point to other conclusions, but we can dream can’t we?

Any way, seems the silver haired lothario is here to stay…

    on pards staying:

    what the hell?!

he better not be here for the long run. i cant stand his football.

if this was chris hughton, and he lost to reading, mackems and liverpool at home, he wouldnt even see two of those games, he’d be gone. this is beyond a joke.

a spade is a spade. he’s never gonna be a fork. he’ll sign carroll and carlton cole. he’s abysmal as a manager and i am fed up of his misplaced arrogance.

doesnt even have the decency to accept some blame sometimes.

also: you all see the post the other day about steve bruce? dunno who’d i’d prefer out of those two. god this is hopeless

i guess if we lose 4-0, he’ll keep his job. we’ve had enough poor results this season to merit his sacking and since it hasnt happened, he’s probs not gonna get fired

    Ruddy,
You know my stance on Ashley and I never criticized once after Cisse signed, but the only evidence of learning from his mistakes is by signing a manager who wont walk after being sh1t on, I suppose you could always credit him for not offering big money contracts anymore, but surely a relegation and an arguable three relegation battles with his wisdom should surely point to his footballing philosophy not working.

Great message to send out to the team against Arsenal – win and the people who keep the club going through the week have a very nice summer.

Quite an obvious message as well that he is a spurs fan. But if he loses a million, I’ll be very happy!

All the posts/reports about Percy keeping his job -come from Percy himself – not Ashley.
If stability was such a desired trait I’m sure Ashley or Dastardly would have killed the speculation as to whether Percy is retained or not. No such assurances have been publicly made.
My logic (logic -difficult when talking about the Toon) would lead me to the conclusion that the silver barnet jellied eel scoffer will be getting the bullet next week.
    PERCY…………………………………..out.

    Good evening/morning,
The only sober mutterings we have had since Dirks purple rant were the offerings after the new signings and the Chelsea win so I wouldn’t get to hopeful after this latest bout of silence regarding Pard u turns future, I wonder what it’s done for SD in tomorrows papers the 1M bonus farce.

jail/andy -morning -trouble is apart form this so called % year plan and getting the club on a sound financial footing -nobody in reality knows what El Gourdo’s long term plans are. The lack of knowledge provides the void for all manner of speculation. Anyway I suppose probably only a matter of days and we all should have an idea of what the plans are.
As for later on today – I suspect we will be in for a beating with our defenders terrified of the speed of that leprachaun Walcott -then playing too deep and inviting the rest of the Gooners to dominate us in our half. I hope not but suspect this will happen.

Im not saying I agree with roshan but maybe in his eyes its one loss now which means nothing, which ultimately benefits nufc in the long run as pardew would be gone.
However as much as I want him sacked, I always want us to win.

And like someone said earlier, with all the hammerings we have taken this season I dont think one more will matter.

For the long term future of the club we need to lose badly today, hope we continue to be terrible as this will speed up the process of Pardew getting the bullet, we can never move on as a club whilst he is in charge.

    Come on Arsenal.

I doubt there is another owner in the world who would get anything other than praise for sharing out £1 million amomg the backroom staff. Can you imagine how excited they must be and how much the players will want to do it for them. The players will know many of the staff and will know just how much this money will mean to them.

It’s a fantastic gesture by Ashley and shows how passionate the guy is about winning and finishing as high up the Prem as possible. Fans criticising him in any way are pathetic, spiteful, little farts.

No, because Ashley has categorically stated that he is NOT a Tottenham fan. His exact words were:
“It’s not true. I absolutely hate Spurs and always have done.”

Shame it has to be gambled on something out of the staffs hands.
Last time he did this was the WBA game we were 3-0 up at HT then Pardew defended the 3 goals … and the staff got nothing.

Check, you want to see us beat today?

    You aren’t a fan. Period.

In my 50 odd years supporting the Toon I’ve seen far far worse managers than Pardew but I’ve never ever gone to a game wanting my team to lose – for any reason.

I – and I’m sure the vast majority of true fans – are sick to the pit of the stomach every time we lose whatever the curcumstances.

You Check – and people like you – are a disgrace to the word fan.

bills – you are right, its a good gesture by Ashley, and personally think he is going great, obviously aart from the one main issue of employing a total incompetent to run the team. Until he shows some ambition regards employing a manager who is top notch then the club is going nowhere.

He employs Benitez in the summer and i must agree the club is in better health than its ever been. Dont think he deserves the shit he gets for sure.
