Steven Taylor Back – Steve Harper Starts And Captains Side

arsenal-fc-crest

The Newcastle team against Arsenal today is almost as expected, with Steven Taylor coming back in to partner Fabricio Coloccini in central defense, after he missed the game at QPR through illness.

Mike Williamson doesn’t even make the bench today and as expected veteran goalkeeper Steve Harper will start his final game for Newcastle, after twenty years at Newcastle, with young Jak Alnwick on the bench.

Steve Harper is also captain for the day, in this his 199th and final game for the club.

Newcastle will line up in a 4-3-3 formation with the front three being Ben Arfa, Papiss Cisse and the in form Yoan Gouffran.

This is the final game of a very disappointing Premier League season, and we hope the lads can get a win – so we can at least finish fairly high up in the table – and get that non-playing staff that £1M bonus to share.

For Arsenal Mikel Arteta starts in midfield – after looking like he would miss the game, after coming off injured last Tuesday night in the 4-1 win at home to Wigan.

We need the win today.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Newcastle: Steve Harper (c); Mathieu Debuchy, Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa; Yohan Cabaye, Cheick Tiote, Jonas Gutierrez; Hatem Ben Arfa, Papiss Cisse, Yoan Gouffran
Substitutes: Jak Alnwick, Danny Simpson, James Perch, Vurnon Anita, Sylvain Marveaux, Gabriel Obertan, Adam Campbell

Arsenal Wojciech Szczesny; Bacary Sagna, Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny, Kieran Gibbs; Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey; Tomas Rosicky, Santi Cazorla, Theo Walcott; Lukas Podolski
Substitutes: Lukasz Fabianski, Nacho Monreal, Thomas Vermaelen, Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gervinho, Olivier Giroud

    Kevy

Just read your comment about people reporting others are “pussys”

I reported you because you threatened me with violence, are you really that thick?

I notice how you think you’re being subtle, when in reality, you’re as subtle as a bull in a china shop, perhaps your behaviour counts as subtle when you’ve an IQ of 48 and are what some people would call….no no I won’t go there.

FFS no Marveaux again. I think we may lose both Anita and Marv in summer.

What is the role of jonas in the team? why can’t marveaux get ahead of him.

    Bet jonas plays full 90

If we actually play 4-3-3 then that’s a good team, but against QPR we claimed to be playing 4-3-3, then it was just a 4-4-2 with Jonas on the wing again.

We’ll not only lose Marv and Anita but Cabaye and/or HBA will be away too.

If they go, there will only be 1 person to blame.

You all know who that is.

I just want a decent performance from the players today. The season is over, but I’m dreading the next one at the moment.

    2. Play attacking football

    3. Keep Benny on for 90 mins

ok. ill take that catchy AND indian.

however, on his day jonas plays extremely well with cabaye, ben arfa cisse. marv has occasionally brilliant but not hugely consistent. Guti is a work horse and is dedicated to the cause. ON HIS DAY.

We dont get to see them every day in training. we dont get advice from other members of the coaching staff to say who should or shouldnt play.

    chill

Tackling ham fisted subtlety on his part with actual subtlety, thought it was an apt insult 😉

I agree on the nervous anticipation, I hope they don’t make a hash of it, as Ferrell is hit and miss at times, and that film is my favourite comedy of all time.

    On topic:

It’s a good line up, I hope we don’t get embarrassed today, all I want is a better home performance as we are due it.

You’re forgetting that you completely lack the ability of being sly, I reported you for effectively breaking the law with threats of violence.

Does that make me a “pussy”?

    Catchy

Is this coming from someone who has been constantly reported? Instead of blaming others for reporting you, it may be time to entertain the notion that it might be you…

Jonas is a Pardew’s favorite and will always play if fit, form or contribution doesn’t come into it. I’m convinced that he must be leaving an apple on Pardew’s desk every day
