Some good words from the Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini on the Newcastle web-site today – and just reading what he says – you wouldn’t think he could be leaving the club this summer – but perhaps we are reading too much into it.
Coloccini – leading the training at Newcastle – please stay!
This is what Colo said today:
“It was disappointing to lose, of course, but they were fighting for the Champions League while we didn’t play for anything, just trying to get three points for the fans.”
“But I think Sunday was a very good game because maybe we showed that we can fight against the big teams. We have to prepare for next season and play like we did on Sunday: to be compact and aggressive.”
“I think next season, if the team play like that, we can be higher in the table.”
That doesn’t sound like a man who would be leaving the club this summer, but of course you never can tell.
But it would be a huge coup if Newcastle can persuade the captain to stay on Tyneside.
It’s obvious he is a leader on and off the field for Newcastle, and he’s been missed big time this year with that back injury he picked up against Southampton, and of course he’s been captain now for two years since Kevin Nolan left for West Ham.
Colo’s house party last week – forging team spirit at Newcastle
We really hope Colo will stay at Newcastle, and it would be a huge lift if Newcastle can announce early in the summer that Colo is staying.
That would give the fans a much-needed lift, and with Colo in the team, he could certainly lead us to another top six finish next season.
What do you think?

Comment #249Somebody mentioned earlier about Rafa being out the country -he certainly is -he is managing Chelsea for two friendlies in the US.Manchester City in St Louis on May 23 and in New York City on May 25.
Benitez’s contract with Chelsea expires at the end of May.
If he is the chosen one I would not expect to hear anything for a while yet.

No point in having strikers if you cant create anything. We need wingers more than we need strikers. Our team even at full strength is horribly unbalanced.
———————————————————
But again, there’s no point in having wingers when they are ask to defend deep, they will not be able to create.
Solution.
We need Giants. Those that can that can take the hit. Physical enough to play American Football.

Comment #252collo is our backbone and most consistant defender in a long long time i pray he stays.
imo tiote has lost what he once had and we can speculate on what he has lost but i personally think its head problems that i doubt he will get back or maybe he just had one good season who knows.
i personally think if anyone comes in for him we should let him go as long as its over the price we payed for him as we have plenty of cover and i would gladly trade his position for a winger.

Comment #254Obviously MA understands/ felt that partly was his fault for not investing earlier.
In this scenario, it will be best to give pardew 1 more season. There should be no more excuse for “failure” this time.

Comment #255Perhaps it was not really a party at Collos house but merely a tactics brief disguised as a party so Pardew wouldn’t say anything stupid.

some of the fines imposed by Di Canio for assorted transgressions, including forgetting to attend weekly charity shirt-signing sessions, arriving late for team meetings, shunning afternoon treatment from physiotherapists, calling in sick but avoiding the club doctor’s calls, and appearing hungover at training.
Bloody having a laugh, are they? guys earn 30k and call fake sickies and do not attend club events… hopefully PDC will teach them some respect and discipline… ah hang on because PDC is a foreigner his discipline isnt looked at in a nice way, a bit like Mancini discipline… or capello discipline… surely our lovely english players can go out drinking every night before training…

I think what he says in that 24 minute interview if you can understand it all is right though, there must be unfit players there and there must be a previous regime as I guess there is at Newcastle and QPR that was not good and playing to potential.
