Alan Pardew will meet with Mike Ashley and Derek LLambias this week to sort out what needs to be done this summer, but a 5th bottom finish in the Premier League will make it that much harder to attract top players to Tyneside.
Andy Carroll – coming home?
Newcastle don’t need too many players, since we already have some good players in the squad, if only they could keep fit – and Alan is saying today we need two or three top players brought in
This is what the manager said in the local press today:
“We still need to make sure we get two or three recruits in there which take us forward.” “If we can do that, they’ll grow as well, and we’ll be much, much better next year.”
“You hear managers taking about needing three players to make the perfect side, but we genuinely need a couple in the first team that complement the others.”
“We’re very lucky to have the fans – we mentioned that in the dressing room after the game.” “There were 52,000 again. I said to them – even if we’d gone down, there’d still be 52,000.”
“We’ve got to serve up better than what we’ve served up this year.”
You can say that again.
And the Newcastle fans were again as patient as ever yesterday, and did not boo the players or anything like that – because it was clear the lads were giving everything they had.
it’s just a pity we couldn’t get a win to end the season on a more positive note.
It’s understood that a certain Andy Carroll is high on the list of potential recruits this summer, and that’s because Andy would give us back something we haven’t had this season – a threat from set plays into the box.
We hope we can get him back, but we also need another striker to help out Papiss Cisse with the job of putting that ball into the back of the net.
What do you think?

Comment #1I’d take ONE quality manager instead of Pardew’s 2-3 players

Comment #2No point in having strikers if you cant create anything. We need wingers more than we need strikers. Our team even at full strength is horribly unbalanced.

Do you mean with no shots on goal !!!! same old, same old.
You must have an incredibly high tolerance and pain threshold.

We need 3 new players (P.E.A, Sakho and a.n.other) and ONE NEW MANAGER

Comment #5IF our play needs to have 2 wingers with great dribbling skills, we actually already have them : Santon and HBA.
Hopefully SAnton play as wingers and let MYM play as LB, I believe Santon will give more contribution than Jonas or Gouffran as LW.

Comment #7We need 3 players? more like 3 strikers since he always plays cisse up by himself and gouff on the wing.

Comment #8Would suit pardew down to the ground, when he gets us knocked out of FA cup in january and he has a match every 2 weeks.
No tiredness excuses only boredom excuses.
Remember during Kharkiv games we had no PL games. still we had the priviledge of watching NUFC

Comment #9Santon…. Well i agree santon would make a great winger. However i dont see pardew ever having the gonads to play him further up. I’d love to see it but i dont think it’ll happen.
HBA to me drifts to much into the centre to be a true winger. You can tell he wants to be in the middle in that no 10 role.

Comment #10And what is he gona do about cm next year?
Anita played amazing when he came on yesterday and I love the way he plays…so there is cabaye tiote anita perch sissoko. Just hope he stops playing sissoko on the wing..gona be hard to pick 2 from that though.

Comment #11We should try to sign Gameiro, Menez and Sakho. All 3 are not having much game time at PSG.

Comment #12I genuinely cannot Understand what Jonas Does in the team.
Gouffran gets taken off, Yanga Mbiwa gets taken off?
Jonas can’t create from left wing/MF how will he create from LB which Mbiwa was doing.
I guess we have our stewart downing

We saw Santon as a winger once against wigan and he scored, but that’s about it. pardew consistantly play him as LB and put Jonas up front which baffles me. It’s probably why we didn’t score goals, because pardew put creative players to do more defensive duties and non creative players as attackers.
Someone must hit pardew in the head really hard, because there is something wrong in his head.

For the record, although there was no booing at the game which I didn’t think there would be unless we got hammered,my thanking Pardew for our second worst PL position was heavy with sarcasm as was the wish for him to be here next year to repeat the process.

Comment #18Even if pardew is backed heavily with new players he will still pick the same starting 11 every week. Thats why the players look so tired there is no tinkering. Unless he is forced through injury. SAF benitez wenger ect.. All tinker and it works for them. Some of our players could have had a lot more experiance this year but no pardew has his 11 knights. Glad anita came on he showed what great feet he has. Anita must be the most frustrated player in that squad, how he is so far down the pecking order ill never know, or wait a minute its pardew, he doesnt like good players. Pards out, hopefully mikes got a trick up his sleeve but i doubt it!

Comment #19Santon…. Yup wigan was one of his best games he looked lethal. I reckon he’d be able to do some really good link up play with debuchy haidara or MYM depending on whos there. Plus it eliminates the possibility of those moments of madness santons prone to. Again theres a stumbling block in the form of alan pardew.

Comment #20we started off playing decent football yesterday, ok no really atacking threat , but we played some nice flowing football for 30 mins, ,so,, what has pardew been telling them all season that has made them play so poor untill the last game of the season. he has obviously put the fear of god into them every week as everyone thought he had done . they must have hated every minute of this season.
do they want that again? idoubt it . some big names will be gone , unless he goes,

Comment #22Two very good opportunities from Hatem and Cisse both clear shots but wide of goal, why the comments of no shots in 90 minutes. Yanga was taken off because he was knackered stifling Walcott and covering at corners, Goufron was our most effective striker so his substitution was a surprise. All in all a positive effort all round yesterday against a top top side who were not allowed to play their flowing game.

what in pardews style of play says we need Andy? lump it long? maybe, but the fact is, to play that way you need the MF to start flooding the box,
pardew commits no extra bodies , always thinking defence

Didn’t really expect yesterdays game to alter any general feeling tbh, for the fans or owner.

Comment #31Morning All – Woke up from the rage of having to watch that muck yesterday… how many times did we stop in midfield and just look around… there was no runs, no diversions, no calling for the ball… I mean when Anita came on at least we went forward…. I took down the petition as it would have had another negative stain against us fans… Mike Ashley needs to fire him not the fans…. Our job is to support…

Comment #34@Catchy – Dude, if we had Carroll ahead of Cisse getting the flick ons to him down the middle and out wide with his hold up play… we then have a route to creating something in the final third… at the moment – we are a “Give-it-to-Benny” team… and he looked tired after 60 mins…
