Alan Pardew will meet with Newcastle owner Mike Ashley today – and they will discuss why things went so wrong this season in the Premier League.

Mike Ashley – wants to understand – why did things go so wrong?

Also attending the meeting will be Alan Pardew’s coaching staff, Managing Director Derek LLambias and Chief Scout Graham Carr.

Mike Ashley is not happy at what happened in the Premier League this past season, and finishing 5th bottom was hardly what was expected, after being 5th top a short twelve months ago.

We expect Pardew will keep his job as manager – although rumors have been generated today saying he’s going to be sacked – but that’s even to be expected we suppose.

Graham Carr is at the meeting because one outcome of the meeting will be who are the Newcastle targets for this summer, and it seems that Andy Carroll is stalling on a £15M move from Liverpool to West Ham, hoping that Newcastle come in for him.

Other options are Loic Remy of relegated Queens Park Rangers, and St Etienne’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and two from those three would be great as far as we are concerned.

And a central midfielder may also be a priority, and Ajax attacking midfielder and captain Siem de Jong, who Newcastle were interested in last January, may also be a target.

Scottish central midfielder James McCarthy of relegated Wigan has also been rumored to be interesting Newcastle.

Alan Pardew wants more experience in the squad, and he may also push for more British based players, and that would make Andy Carroll and James McCarthy top targets.

Another area of investigation and discussion will be how come we had over 70 injuries last season – and apparently Pardew has some statistics showing just how his players energy levels dipped following European games on Thursdays

And there will be discussion on captain Fabricio Coloccini, who has that personal problem and wants to return to Argentina, although some of his comments lately suggest he is thinking about next season at Newcastle.

It’s probably going to be a long meeting, because not only will they want to discuss these various topics, but want to come out with what to do on each one of them – including who our top transfer targets are this summer will be.
