San Lorenzo Want Coloccini – President To Meet With Newcastle Captain

We were hoping this thing would just go away, and Fabricio Coloccini would be happy to stay at Newcastle and see out the remaining three years of his contract, but it doesn’t look that way, with the San Lorenzo President Matias Lammens saying he will meet with Coloccini to try to get a deal done.

fabricio coloccini training

Fabricio Coloccini – the saga goes on …. and on …

It’s La Cicloneta in San Lorenzo who are reporting the news, and this is what Lammens is quoted as saying:

“I have the intention of meeting with Fabricio and talking about the conditions of his move to San Lorenzo.” We understand Newcastle don’t have too much interest in the summer other than keeping Coloccini in their squad.”

“They’ve managed to escape from the relegation zone, so they’ll now think about what is best for the player, that need to go back home.”

That’s a rather strange statement – but we suppose Mike Ashley will hold out for £5M or £6M for the center-back – and if San Lorenzo can’t afford that – well that’s hard lines.

And we don’t know where the meeting with Coloccini and Lammens will take place –  in England or in Argentina – but the President will need permission to talk to one of our players still on a contract at Newcastle.

San Lorenzo couldn’t afford Colo in January, and we’re not sure where they will get the money from now – but of course step two is they may seek divine intervention.

Pope Francis is a keen supporter of San Lorenzo, and he’ll be following this situation closely.

We had the Demba Ba saga that lasted all last summer, and now we can look forward to the Fabricio Coloccini saga potentially lasting all this summer.

Oh no! 🙁

Seriously, hasn’t this just come from a made up twitter link, and now Sky are reporting it? Complete rubbish, besides, he cannot officially speak to Colo until such a point that Newcastle give him permission, otherwise it’s tapping up. He can speak to Colo’s agent freely, but thats it.

I’ll be very sad to see him go, my favourite Newcastle player and I think our only player who could make it in any side in the world.
Yes he’s looked poor at times but we’re Newcastle and him in a top team would be formidable in my opinion.
I fear he’s irreplaceable for us tbh, don’t think we could get anyone who is as influential or as good as him.

@Santon why not just sell the whole team and promote the reserves?

Christain benteke has indicated he won’t be staying at villa. I know it doesn’t concern NUFC because there’s no chance of him coming here with borrusia Dortmund and spurs interested, but it’s interesting news.
Richard dunne has also been released. Rumours will be linking him to NUFC just to piss us off on top of Carlton cole but tbf I ain’t heard nothing yet. Shay Given looks look he’s going to be released as well as the selling of n’zogbia.

hmm what gives them the right to try poach our players let alone for free ?????
there just out to cause trouble as far as im concerned and i would take them to court for unsettling a player.

@Croftus how would that look? Taking them to court for unsettling a player then colo walks in and say its personal Pardew was with my wife.

San Lorenzo were always gonna come back for him especially if they think they can get him on the cheap and if he wants to go. He’s a class act and would be a fantastic signing for them.

    @Grifftoon It’s a theory.
It’s strange how he was loving life in the toon loved the club that much he had his kids in the academy them boom something happens with his wife and he wants to leave. And of course pardrew has been known for it so put 2 and 2 together.

Santon does need to improve this season, he’s a good player but gets caught out of position constantly. It’s just so obvious he’s not a Left Back, he really should be employed as a winger from now on and work on his delivery and passing. He’d be excellent.

I’ve got a feeling Santon will be gone this summer – at the end of the Arsenal game when the players were standing for their ovation he came over to the Gallowgate End to clap us in appreciation for the support we have given him.
I wonder if he was telling us something?

@kevymartins. Your hatred of Pardew does not give you the right to spread something you have absolutely no proof. I would be very careful what you write you could end up in court.

As for Colo he won’t be going anywhere unless San Lorenzo cough up money. He could always buy himself out of his contract if he is so unhappy.

Reading through the interview it basically sounded like, they had a meeting, all blamed each other, pardew has kept his job because dekka/ash ballsed up in the summer, dekka kept his job because parts ballsed up the season and Ashley can’t figure out which one to blame!
FFS ash man sack the pair of them!

Having said that we’ll see how much they have really “learnt” this summer because we’re still 5-6 players away from having a top team imo

Well there we are Dastardly has confirmed Percy as manager for next season.
I am truly disappointed, whilst I hope for good things next season, as do all Toon supporters I feel this may be a retrograde step. It will be interesting to see who we go after in the summer break or more pertinent -who is willing to come here and who may be “shoehorned” out to provide the funds. Will the transfer policy change to get older PL experienced players -(euphemism for players out of contract -ie hired for nowt).
Can we attract a budding star like Aubameyang. All will be revealed in the coming weeks, I suppose when we see who is hired.
Something clearly I am not looking forward to is the pro Percy brigade (aka the Blind Faith Brigade) who have been in hiding recently, suddenly re-appearing in great numbers back onto the blog, crowing like cockerels who have been denied access to the hen cree for six months. They’ll be strutting about and preening themselves just like Foghorn Leghorn. The cloud of doom looms.
