Newcastle Beat Leicester 2-0 To Finish Top Of Group In Hong Kong

Newcastle progressed to the play off rounds tomorrow and the quarter finals, as they won their third and final group game today, when they defeated Leicester 2-0 – so the lads scored nine goals in the group and conceded none in the three games today.

newcastle leicster

Newcastle and Leicester sevens before today’s game

Newcastle will now play local side Citizen on Sunday in the round of the last eight, and the only surprise in the third game was that Sammy Ameobi didn’t score (he scored two in each of the previous games), but goals from Brad Inman and skipper James Tavernier saw Newcastle comfortably win the game.

The lads scored after two minutes in their last game against Southern, and this time we scored in the very first minute as Paul Dummett raced down the left wing and centered for Australian Brad Inman to score his second goal of the competition.

Leicester were a strong and physical side, but this experienced Newcastle side, with almost all the starters playing first team football out on loan last season, were just too strong.

Let’s see if we can win this thing for the second year in a row tomorrow.

Team:

Newcastle United U-21s sevens: Jak Alnwick, James Tavernier (Steven Logan), Paul Dummett, Michael Richardson, Conor Newton, Bradden Inman (Rolando Aarons), Sammy Ameobi (Remie Streete)

    Pardew is 52.

If he was ever going to be anything and be a consistently successful manager and indeed as he says learn, surely wouldn’t he have done it by now?

At West Ham Tevez & Mascherano dropped for Mullins and Harewood. Here it’s Perch for Anita, Guti for Marveaux and Raylor for Ben Arfa.

Pardew has learnt nothing but we can all see he can’t work with technical players.

    Some very good points below

just watching some goals from the championship season and a few things stuck out to me

    1) we now have nobody who can deliver a decent ball whereas before it was our prime source of goals
    2) guttierez has really declined in the last 3 seasons
    3) we should have kept danny guthrie

also kevin nolan was incredibly influential for us, but i think we made the right decision not giving into his contract demands

Ibiza- good to see you. I guess it boils down to the owners ambition.
Llambias has done countless U turns on transfer policy. I don’t know what is likely to happen in all honesty. Push came to shove in January so the bad time to buy mantra went out of the window. Thinking of the collapse of the Maiga deal and the January signing of Cisse. Not easy to call. If Ashley was going on a road to Damascus type conversion towards being an ambitious owner you would think it would have happened last summer. We had finished fifth , in the Europa and were a far more attractive proposition to prospective signings, certainly than we are now. But it would be just like Ashley to do what were not expecting. Hopefully a few transactions are in the pipeline. Currently getting some sun for a change at the cricket and watching Joe Root- catchy later!

also have heard that the news of pardew staying was not taken well by colo cabaye or arfa. colo was leaving anyway but it would be disastrous if we lost the latter two due to the boards obsession with ‘stability’

CBT as all the players you mention have been out of the country when the news broke he was staying, I doubt it. But don`t let the facts get in the way of your story.

Hi Ian, Don’t know about you, but I’m exhausted. This club, aye? 🙂

Should be an interesting summer ahead, I hope for once it can be fairly straight forward. Now, more than ever, the fans need to see some intent being made to try and calm things.

For everyone else…Did you see Martin Tylers stats article this week? Looks like we can thank the woodwork for saving us as well as Jose Boswinga!

cisse’s big toe…you are absolutely correct…I can personally guarantee all three will be gone due to pardew staying and even Pardew said this morning it will be difficult to keep the squad together because he knows damn well what their intentions are

But the owners only ambition is to keep getting free advertising.

Just staying in the league works fine.

They’re not quite as bad as Arsenal because they at least have the decency to be so poor and inadequate that they make it plainly obvious- Arsenal STILL pretend they’re going to spend money!

I thought he said it was all okay? I’m sure he’ll do fine, as long as his chairman buys him one purple midfielder 😉

Sparky. Thats life mate, players come and go but until proved otherwise I will believe what HBA has to say on the matter rather than speculation on a blog. There have been no press reports any of the players are unhappy with the exception of Colo. Newcastle stories are gold dust for the press. If there was any substance to the story it would be all over the place. But if you want to name your source please do.

24 people voted for Jonas for player of the season.

They must be eating magic mushrooms.

Or they took acid during the first game & haven’t came down yet.

Cant work out if Pardews the reason he’s been awful, or he’s just finished at this level.

Sparky anything you read in the press without sources or direct quotes is usually pure speculation. I take the same line with what I read on this blog. Remember all the people saying Pardew was definitely on his way out. Indykaila was quoted constantly despite saying the same thing in Jan just before Pardew was given 5 new players.

@sparky – rather than revel in your own brilliance, you could just tell us where you heard it so we can decide whether it has any credibility or now.

And before you start, I’m not necessarily disbelieving you!

Colo is gone already so not really breaking news!

HBA, well, so what tbh, as long as its for a decent fee he doesn’t feature more than enough and for all his skill and ability he just doesn’t get enough goals or assists to justify the hype

Cabaye, apparently PSG and Monaco are after him so I can see a bidding war escalating and the price being driven up to the £25 mil mark, if Ashley received a bid that was going to make him a profit of just over £20 mil in 2 seasons I don’t think he’d turn it down, as long as its re invested I don’t think we can be surprised as they have stated the business model

For very obvious reasons can’t say owt so won’t…but it’s out there and you’re all entitle to your opinions and all entitle to voice them on here and I’m sure you’re all looking forward to takin’ the p!ss should Pardew work a miracle to change their minds…but 99.9% sure the way it’s been left he won’t.

I’ve already prepared myself for the departures of Colo, Krul, Cabaye and Hatem. All going because of 2 things, Alan & Pardew in my opinion.

Ashley will bank a nice little earner from the sales, but what will he do:-

    1. Pop the cash in his back pocket to offset the money he has ploughed into NUFC.

    2. Put all or a decent part of it toward new players in the summer with no extra cash from him.

    3. As above, but adding some of his own money to give a sizeable budget to work with.

His actions will obviously show the level of ambition he has. If he chooses option 3 it might just persuade other players to stay until the end of next season. If not, I fully anticipate Anita, Sissoko and Marv and others to be looking to move out in January.

As always we are in the hands of Llambias. How quickly will he act to get players “over the line”. Will he try to play hardball and let them slip through his fingers or do what decent MD’s are supposed to do and develop the company.

Ah, the joys of being a NUFC supporter.

How do you guys know HBA, Cabaye and Colo upset about AP news? Just a guess?

    Colo is probably leaving anyway.

Regarding the latter two, I wouldn’t mind it too much if Cabaye left. Unfortunately, he’s disappeared too many times this season. Was it fatigue? Depression? The coach? Don’t know.

Now HBA, ok, I’ll weep if he leaves!

HBA to injury prone cant see anyone coughing up our evaluation of the player wich we all think is quite high

and cabaye i just cant see teams stumpin up 25mill plus for him and if they do its a good deal anyway
