Newcastle To Play in South Africa This Summer?

Newcastle were due to play last July in the Vodacom Challenge tournament, but it was called off at the last moment by the organizer.

Derek LLambias – Newcastle planning to play Everton and Ajax Cape Town?

And we know a lot of the South African fans were really disappointed at that, but there is news that Newcastle and Everton could be playing there this July.

The news is that Newcastle are in talks for a tournament that will include Everton and Ajax Cape Town as the other two clubs.

The tournament would take place in Cape Town from July 19th through July 26th.

There were rumors earlier this summer that Newcastle may try to play in South Africa this summer, and it may just come off this year.

The rumor on April 22nd was that negotiations were at an advanced stage for Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle and Ajax Cape Town to play in Cape Town in July,  and at that time the dates were July 20th through July 27th.

So it seems the only difference now is that Liverpool may not be participating.

And what was holding things up then was the council had to sign off on the total costs and “various other rigorous processes” that would need to be improved to have the tournament take place.

Here’s hoping.

Right, here’s one: the club have said that they are looking for a new coach; David Moyes is letting the majority of his inherited backroom staff go meaning Rene Meulensteen, heraded as one of the best coaches in the world is free, perhaps a bold move in that fashion would help is progress, not asif he is going to follow a manager like coaches generally do. Also Eric Steele was their GK coach, he’s from Wallsend, why not get him on board too.

    Morning gents.

How are we all today? I see we are full of positivity yet again! :-/

Also see from last night, people started laying into proud yet again over the Remy deal from January. Think some people need to grow up and give the bloke a break.

Surely you would be happy if the club were seen to be progressing..

In all honesty I do not blame Remy for chosing QPR in January and hence would welcome him with open arms in the next window

He was given the choice between two crap teams ,one of them offering double the salary on offer from the other club . What would any other professional player do?

    Newcastle are tracking Auxerre’s attacking
midfielder Steeven Langil, 25, who is out of
    contract this summer.

Can’t see us getting any higher.

Twice we have lost the chance to progress when in good position.

    I) in the Hall Shepherd era when we did not build on our top four finishes.

    II) last season.

Lets hope we have learn’t and buy some class this summer

And of Pardew I would give him ten games to show his worth

Yup, double the wages. Plus joining a team who were as good as down, there was only a slim chance of them surviving, means 2 signing on fees for the lad in 6 months.

You should know better than to expect positivity on this blog.

On HBA, let the lad leave i someone is willing to pay £20mill or upwards he can go. Ed uses his injuries and stats as why he won’t leave, the same stats tell me we should let him go.

Personally, 8th-9th is an okay season. I would have settled for that this year had tactics and style been better. Next season, plus decent showings in the domestic cups is a good season. The most telling thing for wanting Pardew to stay and this talk of progress will be the manner in which we perform.

Free agents, those coming out of contract and kids, all from foreign leagues

Actually, doesn’t that sort of indicate that we will be perpetually replacing experienced EPL players with inexperienced ones.

All the more reason for the need of a gifted tactician at the helm.

If over the next few seasons we cement ourselves as a top 6-8 club i’d personally be over the moon.

    Sorry just replying now.
I don’t think we are going to lose anyone other than Simpson this season. IF we have the same result next season, we could lose more than 2 players by January, because they want to be in the world cup squad. Cabaye won’t leave, because he just asked his best friend Debuchy to join the club.

Different topic, rumours are Carroll has turned down West Ham, reportedly to fight for his Liverpool place. The boy must have some pretty strong info about other clubs wanting to sign him, I’d guess us, but unwilling to pay as much as West Ham. Otherwise, why would he jeopardise his chances of being in next summers World Cup squad.

I admire Carroll for wanting to stay on at such a fine club as Liverpool and fight to show his worth. Whether to get back into the first team picture or secure the contract at another big club he’s undoubtedly capable of securing.

I really think Carroll is too good to be plying his trade at the Hammers, as admirable though mid sized a club as they are.

Lilo – I thought the same mate. I’ve heard that we have put an offer on the table for Andy but it’s OUR valuation as opposed to Liverpool’s and west hams. Of course this news has been leaked to the player who I think is calling Liverpool’s bluff.

Keep me and play me, or sell me back home!

Do you think Colo will stay then?

I think Simpson, Obertan, Gosling will be moved on and Colo will go home.

I think decent bids will come in for Cabaye and Ben Arfa.

The Carroll rumours are interesting. Brendan Rodgers really wants that 15 million to re-invest back into his squad.

There is a chance Carroll maybe forcing Liverpool to sell him back to us. Clever on Carrolls behalf if true. Rodgers deffo dosn’t want him at Liverpool next season and he will have plans for the 15 million he is worth

Andy Carroll wouldhave to be circling the planet Coozbane if he thinks were gonna come riding in on a white charger to sweep him back to St James’ on thesort of money West Ham will pay him.

He won’t take the drop in wages and he won’t fancy leaving Liverpool without having had a fair go and he won’t fancy playing for a mid table, mid sized EPL team.

I think he could end up somewhere like Milan, ala John Charles.
