Newcastle Unlikely To Sign Injured Portuguese Star

Newcastle striker target Eder tore his cruciate knee ligament during the cup win over Benfica in early March, and it’s likely that injury will keep him out of the action for at least six months, at least.

Eder – recovering from cruciate ligament injury

So the reports linking him with some Premier League clubs this summer, including Newcastle,  may be a little premature.

The 5 times capped Portuguese International only moved to Braga from Academica last summer, so this was his first season at Sporting Braga.

He scored 14 goals in 33 appearances last season, but it’s unlikely any club will sign him until he completely recovers from injury, although Newcastle did sign Everton midfielder Dan Gosling, when he had a similar type of injury three years ago.

Gosling has not been a success at Newcastle and could well be sold this summer.

And come to think of it,  Newcastle signed Ben Arfa in January of 2011, when he was still recovering from his broken leg.

Newcastle will need to have any strikers they sign this summer available for pre-season, and that’s one big reason why Newcastle will not be signing Eder this summer.

Why sign someone who can’t play?

Talking of tiny little guys, is Lukaku available for loan? He can change a season’s fortunes.

Why don’t you direct that question to the powers that bought Gosling ,Marveaux and HBA .

Is it worth looking at psg fringe players – Gamerio, Sakho and maybe look at menez too?

    Any decent rumours about?

    Morning gents.

How are we all today? French press have us linked with French u20’s captain Alexandre Coeff. Relative unknown to many premiership clubs at present.

Lens 21yr old centre back, centre midfielder. Would be cheap and very much full of potential. Plus versatile. Worth a shot I would say.

We apparently have GC at the Toulon tournament this year and a we know, thus tournament showcases the best young talent. In the past Thierry Henry, big al and mascherano have all won the player of the tournament award.

Scored against USA recently and it’s something spectacular.

If you have time check this lad out and watch his goal vs USA in Toulon tournament.

@2 agree balde a lot better and a hell of a lot cheaper anyways

@7 again agree some great players there inc the 3 you mentioned although menez could possibly be ruled out as we have so many midfielders allready with psg being super spenders though do we know what the avg wage is at the club ?

Just a thought. If he is currently injured how much will that reduce his price? I don’t know enough about him to comment on his value, but Llambias might just fancy a punt if the price is right to bring him into the squad in January.

    @13:

I like the idea of us scouting players in June with an idea to us actually signing them in January?

Unfortunately, the world does,nt work that way, this transfer is i think a Non-starter!
