Newcastle Transfer Targets Decided Over The Next Week

10:01 am, Friday, May 31st, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 27 Comments

News today in the local press that Newcastle will be holding meetings over the next week to pin down who our top transfer targets will be this summer.

Derek Llambias - new shot o

Derek Llambias – will chair the transfer meetings

The meetings will include Derek Llambias, Lee Charnley the Secretary, Alan Pardew and Chief Scout and Newcastle may want to move for some of their targets early in the transfer window.

That was certainly the plan three months ago before we were enmeshed in a relegation battle to save out Premier League status.

Things to be decided include the amount of funds available, and the specific players Newcastle will move for.

Don’t be surprised if some of the players we go after have been on Newcastle’s list of targets for a year or more, and they could include Loic Remy, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Wilfried Bony as some of the striker targets.

But there was news yesterday that 23 year-old Aubameyang could be joining Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen, and he appears to be Newcastle’s number one striker target, who we tried to get in January, but our £8.5M offer was turned down by his club St. Etienne.

The Newcastle targets are said to be based in France, Belgium and Holland again, although news today that Newcastle are interested in England’s 18 year-old Will Hughes, who is a top talent at just 18 years old.

if cisse goes I think we need to sign three strikers because as we saw last season two just isn’t enough and ameobi looks like he’s going but to be honest i cant see fat ash forking out for three premier league strikers

‘want to move for some of their targets early in the transfer window’

Half our suggested transfer targets have already been signed, or been linked to other clubs

Definitely need to get targets aquired early and go after them! And have a back up plan in place in case we fail to get the bigger names (as we normally do these days!)

This meating should happend in the days after the victory against QPR… not to wait two weeks… They will never learn don’t they… They already should work on transfers not to “set the meeting” ffs.

Pretty sure that meeting would have happened in march time, possibly even in January! If we’re leaving it till June to even draft a list then we’re ridiculous! We need a top striker, a #10, a left winger and a centrehalf if Colo leaves! I’d actually settle for 1 signing if it was a 15-20m centre forward and no1 leaves! Well be better in august as our summer signings will have settled and will be upto premier league speed

Dreamboat – Not sure our targets have all been snapped up already, but linked with other clubs…quite possibly. However it IS silly season and everybody is linked with anybody.

If our targets WEREN’T linked with other clubs, then we would all be moaning they aren’t good enough. Relax my friend! :-)

morning all-surely nufc’s transfer plans should be well under way by now.liverpool -sunderland ect are already dipping there feet into the market.
torq-tell me it aint so regarding pea going to the bundesliga

  • 8 Markaccus // May 31, 2013 at 10:10 AM

Martoon. Yep, was at the game on weds. And unlike nufc, the falcons transfer targets are already sorted and there are 3 international players coming in for next year plus some good squad players already signed up.

  • 9 jayphoto // May 31, 2013 at 10:15 AM

Don’t think we’ll het PEA! Shame because hes an ambitious lad with a great attitude, he desperately wants to win things! If Milan come in for him he ‘ll go back there in a second as proving himself there is his dream! I think Man City might be favourites for him if he comes to england, id expect him to do better than leverkusen who will struggle without schurrle

  • 10 TorqToon // May 31, 2013 at 10:15 AM

Jazzy – He hasn’t agreed to go anywhere yet. He may well end up at Dortmund and if he did, nobody could blame him. We have put the time and the Work in for him, but IF he chooses to go elsewhere, then that’s his prerogative.

  • 11 martoon // May 31, 2013 at 10:16 AM

Markaccus – That Dean Richards always comes across well and seems to be competent and strikes me as somebody who takes no BS. I wonder if he fancies a change of sport but remain in Newcastle? 😉

  • 12 TorqToon // May 31, 2013 at 10:17 AM

Jay – I dont think he will go citeh. He wants guaranteed football over big money. If lewandowski leaves, pea will step in I reckon.

  • 13 jayphoto // May 31, 2013 at 10:22 AM

Dortmund is a much more likely destination! Think city will have a big clear out this summer tho, possibility that Tevez, Dzeko and Aguero will leave, City have watched him lots, reckon Pea will fancy hes good enough to start for them, don’t think hel go for the money tho, more for the chance if trophies! Wouldnt be surprised if liverpool become interested if suarez leaves

  • 14 Markaccus // May 31, 2013 at 10:22 AM

Martoon…. Thats not a bad idea, but we need him at falcons for one more season first just to make us compete. Deano is a popular man in rugby but not sure if he would be liked in football! He says what he thinks too often 😀

  • 15 TorqToon // May 31, 2013 at 10:24 AM

Jay – Word is that Suarez is off and Liverpool want David villa in to replace. Very different players though. So who knows?!

  • 16 Ibizatoon - Back By Popular Demand // May 31, 2013 at 10:26 AM

Torq…Not very ITK of you. Everybody knows that the bird is the word 😉

  • 17 Markaccus // May 31, 2013 at 10:27 AM

Is Lewandowski still at dortmund?? I thought he was off as soon as the champs league final was over. cant remember where i read that like 😀

  • 18 lewisnufc // May 31, 2013 at 10:28 AM

seen that tottenham might want rid of huddlestone. would anyone sign him up and get shot of tiote? He wouldn’t cost that much, probably about 4/5 mill and say if we managed to get 12-15 mill for tiote we still make a little bit profit

  • 19 TorqToon // May 31, 2013 at 10:29 AM

Ibiza – I’m simply an ITK wannabe my friend! Never claimed to know everything! :-)

He is still there at the moment, all the talk is of a move to Bayern but nothing set in stone yet. Agents started negotiations straight after the final.

  • 20 Markaccus // May 31, 2013 at 10:29 AM

Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba mm a maow maow ba ba mm maow ma maow

  • 21 jayphoto // May 31, 2013 at 10:30 AM

Villa?? Wow, don’t really watch Spanish football so no idea what level hes at these days but suarez for me is the best player in the premier league and in the top 5 in the world (behind messi, Ronaldo, Ibra and javi martinez) would be a huge task to replace him, think theyd need to gamble on a player with worldclass potential

  • 22 Indian Magpie // May 31, 2013 at 10:31 AM

Is LLoerente definitely off to Juve?

  • 23 Ibizatoon - Back By Popular Demand // May 31, 2013 at 10:31 AM

Torq…Don’t say that. I start my every day with “what would Torq do”. Don’t let me think this was a bad move on my part :)

So no progress to report yet? I imagine there is lots of back and forth going on at the minute. Deals relying on other deals etc.

  • 24 Ian Magpie // May 31, 2013 at 10:33 AM

I would seriously go for Belhanda or Boudebouz. probably more Belhada if I had to choose as the other could be a bit lightweight for the EPL. Imagine both. one on the left and one on the right with Benarfa as a no10 next to Cisse!!!!!!!!!!!! ooosh! Its Friday damn it!!!! and I can dream if i want to!!!!!!!!!!!lol

  • 25 lesh // May 31, 2013 at 11:14 AM

You’ve got the words wrong Markaccus.

    I goes:

Ba ba m ba ba, ba ba m ba ba, ba ba m ba ba….. Etc

  • 26 estechco // May 31, 2013 at 11:38 AM

You’d like to think the lazy f*ck in the picture was a little more prepared for the impending transfer window than simply having meetings to pin down targets !?!

  • 27 deje88 // Jun 2, 2013 at 7:41 PM

We need to get rid of Shola Ameobi (rubbish). Like to see Newcastle get some depth in the forward line though and we don’t need to spend a fortune, what about Kevin Doyle as a back up striker could be picked up for 2-3 million.

Man City also have some good youngsters we could raid like Guidetti, Boyata, Sinclair, they could probably pick up this lot for 10 million.

If we are looking for bargins we should look at Palermo who have just been relegated for Serie A, players like Hernández, Muñoz, Ili?i? and Ba?inovi? are up for grabs.

Also wouldnt be the worst if we lost Coloccini, Gutiérrez and Ben Arfa. As it would save us around 200k a week. We could fund all 8 of these guys above for the amount we pay these three.
