We had reported a few days ago that Newcastle were interested in 22 year-old Spanish midfielder Bojan Krkic.
Bojan Krkic – on loan at AC Milan – could return to Barcelona
Bojan was bought by Roma from Barcelona for an initial fee of €12M (£10.3M) in July two years ago, but Barcelona had a buyback option they could execute in 2012 or 2013.
The player was at AC Milan last season on loan, and Milan had an option to buy him, but it looks like they will not be taking up that option.
We have learned that if Roma wants to keep the player at the Italian club past this season, they will need to pay an additional €28M (£24M) to Barcelona, otherwise he will presumably return to the Spanish powerhouse.
When the fee was €12M we thought that was reasonable, but it seems his total fee is €40M (£34M) and there’s just no way Newcastle could afford that amount of money – we could get ten players for that amount these days.
And since Liverpool are said to be interested in the Spanish International, maybe it’s their move now – after all they’ve been known to pay out £35M for some players. 😀
There’s no way Newcastle can be interested in the player at that price, even though that’s what’s being reported, and we suppose he could come to Newcastle for a season long loan deal, but then we couldn’t afford his transfer fee after that – so even that is very unlikely.
Krkic scored only three goals in 19 appearances for Milan last season, and Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal may also be interested in the player.
Krkic is too expensive for Newcastle.
