News That Papiss Cisse Wants New Newcastle Contract

There has been a buzz in the last couple of days about a report in the Russian daily Investia that Anzhi are preparing a £15M bid for Newcastle striker.

papiss cisse - I just scored fulham

Cisse was booked  – he was too happy at scoring – and that’s not allowed

And there were quotes in the report from his agent Nickolay Guido, that he wanted European football and that was unlikely in the near future at Newcastle.

Nickolay also said he didn’t want to reveal which clubs were after him and then talked about Anzhi being really interested – which seemed odd to us.

There are reports in the local papers today that while Nickolay Guido was his agent when he was signed form SC Freiburg, he has not represented the player since last May.

Newcastle are also said to be relaxed about the reports from Russia, and that Papiss Cisse has little desire to leave Newcastle, and in fact he would rather sing a new contract to stay at Newcastle.

Papiss has formed a good relationship with the supporters and he scored three goals in injury time against West Brom, Stoke and Fulham that got us a valuable extra 6 points as it turned a draw into a win in each case, even if the goals against West Brom was fortunate.

And of course Papiss scored that sensational last minute winner against Anzhi at St. James’ Park that propelled us forward into the last eight.

So we suppose we have to take all these reports with a pinch of salt – and it seems that Papiss wants to stay on Tyneside, and that’s good to hear.

And in any case Newcastle would only sell him for silly money this summer, which is true of Newcastle’s other top stars too.

I’d rather keep Cisse, but seeing as we are stuck with pardew, he has to be allowed to bring the players that suit him, not the chief scout. Also I get the impression that we would buy the wrong type of player for him, if we thought there was financial value in it in the medium term. I’d happily sell Tiote though. Last season he didnt look worth the 3.5 mill paid. Shocking player, terrible temperment, gets caught in possession, tackles recklessly, yellow card machine, not a good passer of the ball. Mind you Pardew calls him his warrior and I suppose Guti fits into that mould aswell.

Cisse’s form is because of Pardew’s ineptness

It would be a major step forward if Papiss did sign a new contract!

His goals saved us this season, and compared to the year before when he was on fire, this year he was,nt getting the service and just could,nt make the same impact he had had the season before?

If we give him a new contract, and tie him down till say 2018, it will stop a lot of Bullshit newspaper stories between now and the start of next season!

No stupid clauses in any future contracts for any of our players.
    Don,t want another BA saga

Looking like his ‘agent’ (or whoever) is spreading rumours just to get Cisse a better contract.

agree with @indian magpie. most if not all of cisse’s problems last season can be attributed to pardew’s tactics and formation, lack of service (due in large part to pardew’s tactics), and the lack of another striker to play alongside (also due to pardew’s tactics). if a team is going to play 1 up top, they need 2 attacking players who can both provide service from wide areas and threaten the goal themselves. if gouffran and a healthy ben arfa consistently were the 2 out wide, that’s fine as long as they also attack the box and someone else from midfield attacks when they are out wide (cabaye and sissoko). too often, cisse found himself totally isolated and playing against more than one defender. if this report about him re-signing were true, it could encourage other players to join the team and also counter the prevailing wisdom that good players don’t want to play for pardew.

I’m sure Cisse is the picture of kindness to little old ladies and orphans, but he was dreadful as a striker last year. He was regularly out of position to receive crosses or pounce on rebounds. To me, he looks like the kind of guy who will always be hot and cold, but mostly cold. I think last year was the Papiss Cisse we would see most of the time.

In one of our last games, Jonas got the ball down the side and crossed it perfectly into the center of the box, only Cisse wasn’t there. Cisse had allowed not one, not two, but three defenders to get between himself and the ball. He just stood there looking puzzled when they easily cleared it out. That kind of thing happened all the time.

How Pardew gets blamed for that is a mystery.
