Top Young PSV Midfielder Could Do A Job At Newcastle

Newcastle were first linked with Georginio Wijnaldum two years ago when the attacking midfielder was only 20 and still at Feyenoord.

Georginio Wijnaldum

Georginio Wijnaldum – 22 year-old outstanding midfielder

But in 2011 he moved to PSV Eindhoven and has spent a good two seasons at the club, where he’s played 83 times with 34 goals and 14 assists.

The 5’5″ winger can also play on either wing, and on the blog we’ll be focusing now and again on some of Newcastle’s past targets, who have done well since the Magpies were interested in them.

In his younger years Georginio was at Sparta Rotterdam, his home town club, before joining the Feyenoord Youth Academy in 2007, when he was just 16.

Wijnaldum made his debut in April of 2007 in the home match against FC Groningen at the age of 16 and 148 days, and he became the youngest player ever to play in Feyenoord’s first team.

He had a decent record at Feyenoord of 134 appearances with 25 goals and 11 assists before joining PSV for €5M (£4.3M) and that’s the time Newcastle were supposed to be interested in the player.

It seems that Newcastle will only bring in good players this summer if they replace others, but it could be that Dan Gosling, Gabby Obertan and Romain Amalfitano could be on their way with all three being distant fringe players last season at Newcastle.

This lad seems like a very decent prospect and could be brought in for a respectable fee this summer.

In his career, Georginio has played 217 times with 59 goals and 22 assists, and he’s played for all the Dutch Youth sides, and twice for the full Dutch side – and he’s still only 22.

Colin is @Cwarr07 He claims to be in the know and have inside links to goings on at the club. He also likes his Akbar curries and a pint in a beer garden. He spouts more ITK nonsense then anyone I have come across. He also has memory loss issues as he never seems to remember that he got it wrong. Almost every time. According to him NUFC have signed hundreds of players, Ashley has sold the club twice, Ba left 4 times, HBA left in January, Tiote went last summer (Given his performances that could be true, sort of), Pardew was sacked, and Ashley has sold the club twice. I can’t remember a correct prediction. Someone has collated all his rumours in one place, but I can’t remember which fanzine/blog it was.

I like the look of this player, but an article title, tis player is what newcastle could need or could do a job, i won’t get excited as it basically means they are not a target, just a good player

Ha, just for emphasis, not by mistake, honest!

I also remember he offered to donate £1000 to Sir Bobby Robson Foundation if one of his ITK things turned out not to be correct. Safe to say he didn’t pay up when he lost and I think and True faith along with a number of fans made up the cash as a donation to make up for it.

It was Gervinho he said he had signed and would donate if he was proved wrong. Sunderland fans also contributed to the donation.

Benny must have done something right to win 5 titles with 2 different teams.

Yes he loses the ball sometimes but the movement ahead of him is appalling and at times totally non-existent. There are no one-twos, triangles, overlapping or anyone moving ahead of the ball. Pardew along with Pulis has to be the most anti-football coach ever.

There are so many rumours about transfers in the Premier League at the moment. So many great exciting players. New managers coming in etc.

Yet nowt for us to get excited about. Nothing at all. We cant be linked with a good manager or any decent players as we don’t have any money.
It really is awful now. And it’s going to be like this for years. Even Andy Carroll we simply can’t buy. Remy we can’t get. Benteke impossible. So many others. It’s just pointless even getting excited in the transfer window.

I think the overall plan is great when we are on a budget but this is as good as it’s gonna get. Long term we haven’t really got much to get excited about.

The only possible excitement we are going to get is if there’s a takeover and somebody comes in with big money.

If that doesn’t happen then sit back and enjoy 20years of fighting for 7th or 8th place.

In 3 of those title seasons he played 13 or less times though (13,12 and 9). He also only has 29 assists in 234 career games at club level. For a player of his undoubted talent, that isn’t good enough. 37 goals is also an average return for an attacking player with his ability.

While I don’t want to lose him, at 20-25million, I would do the deal.

Lads we wont sign anyone of note so no point stupid debates about players who the club have no intention of signing or the player of coming. We are a joke period.
Pardew will still be reeling that Ryan Taylor is not back next season as quote he would be like a new signing.
