Newcastle Fan To Trek Great Wall Of China For Cancer Charity

Newcastle fan and blog reader Peter Hale’s father was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer last year, but with surgery he has made a good recovery and he is doing well so far.

Great Wall of China

Peter says the Macmillan Cancer Support group have been great to him and his father, and he now wants to raise money for the charity.

He will be doing a 9 day trek across the Great Wall of China from April 5th-15th next year – and he is now busy preparing for the trek.

Peter will start in Huangyaguan and walk across the Yanshan Mountains, and finish along the Juyongguan line of the wall in Beijing.

This is approximately 114 miles over steep terrain and  a well-beaten track.

Peter is trying to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support and also do something different and go to places on the Great Wall that many people have never  seen.

We’ll be following Peter’s progress, and wanted to give him some support and publicity as he prepares for his exciting journey.

Peter will be wearing Newcastle’s new jersey on his trek, and his Virgin Money just giving page is here, and he has started to collect donations for the charity as he trains for his long trek.

Please help if you can.

I’m far more excited about the rumours of bringing in technical coaching staff than those of any players incoming!
Finally we can address the root cause of our playing problems!
