93% Of Newcastle Fans Think Brazilian Would Be Good Signing

There was news yesterday that Newcastle were leading the race for 25 year-old Brazilian center-half Douglas, a player Newcastle were after last summer, but the center-back decided to stay at his Dutch club for one more year.

Douglas – 93% think he’d be a good signing

Of course he’ll cost nothing in transfer fees, but as Derek LLambias points out, nobody comes in for nothing, and the club will need to pay his agents some money, and his contract is likely to be a good one too.

The Italian press yesterday were reporting that Newcastle’s offer was the best one he’s received – so we hope that’s true.

His six years at Dutch club FC Twente ends on June 30th, and we wanted to gauge whether Newcastle fans think he would be a signing.

A massive 93% think he would be a good buy (at the time of writing this), and the poll is still open if you haven’t yet voted – only one vote per reader so we get an accurate assessment of what fans think.

I’m not sure the fans’ opinions count too much as far as our magnificent management are concerned.

You never know though, they may see something in collective opinion.

Having his face smeared in marmite and ants in an aardvark sanctuary is too good for Ashley .

Just seen that Man united will let Nani go for 8.5 mil, I’m not sure what his wages are etc… But I would have him for that like! I know it’s very unlikely. But he has experience in the league which is what apparently what we want. Imagine Ben arfa and Nani on each wing….

No ‘top’ players will sign for us this summer. all this talk of Sakho.. No chance. As for comments about Benteke, and on a few posts ago how NUFC should have gone in for jesus navas?? Jesus man get real. Two first team players TOPS, not above a combined fee of £10m.

    Are we signing Darren Bent?

    How odd.

Still, decent striker and would compliment Cisse perhaps.

    29 years old though…but free?

Got to be worth a shout.

Bent is just an older version of Cisse without the spectacular goals. They are both poachers.

5 years ago and even earlier back in the days when SBR wanted him Bent was great, but nowadays Bent can’t get a game at Villa and previously was benched at Sunderland towards the end.

I see Pardew’s hand in this potential signing having being together when Pardew relegated Charlton and that is very worrying as Bent is well past his sell by now.

They still might be available if things go wrong. Benitez was the biggest opportunity missed, oh well that’s Ashley for you!!

Are we not discarding Bent based on the season just gone? He was injured but in his first game back he scored did he not? Plus if you had benteke creating that much havoc for teams would you not play him instead of Bent.

Why not I say? Performance based contract only and has to do some tutoring of younger players.

danishmag….I don’t understand how people call ben arfa injury prone.. He played all of last the 12/13 season. Before that he had a double leg break..Which was due to complete bad luck, nothing to do with recurring injuries or anything like that.. and then he had the hamstring problem.. so if you take the leg break out, he has had one injury in three years. What do you mean?

Because I just can’t see Ashley investing much this summer in players. I think he will see his January investments as the main money spent, and perhaps stump up a small amount of cash this summer. I hope I am wrong. With regards to Nani – wages way too high, so whats the point in even mentioning it? And Benteke has interest from teams like Atletico, Liverpool etc, and lets face it, right now both teams are far more attractive to play for than us.

Let alone the fact that Villa have said £25m isn’t even enough to make them sell him..

Dont get me wrong.. Ben arfa is my favorite player at our Club by a mile, but he has been out alot with injuries.
When he came back after his double leg break, he got injuried again for a short period, before returning without being injured in that season. Last season he was out more than 50% of the time. So yes, he is injury prone. Just as Nani.

G – exactly! There are an awful lot of fans just wanting a signing no matter who. Unless Douglas is a proven step up from Williamson (not that hard unfortunately as he is a proper pro) then surely we shouldn’t rush into signing a player to placate impatient fans.

To be fair ballerfan2, Douglas, is technicaly, and skillwise, a very good player indeed. He just does not have 90 minutes of concentration in him. I think most prem forwards would make mincemeat out of him over the course of 1 game.
